The even-count benefit was brought up last game as the "free mis lynch" I believe - it makes sense, but I still lament the lack of a more substantial day 1. Someone may know something tomorrow, but absent a role claim most of us won't - we will still largely be the same as today, just with one fewer alive to consider.

On a more amusing note, tw just finished the start narrative, now he can write the day end narrative!

Think it was just a near unanimous agreement that a lynch on D1 wouldn't benefit. Doubt scum could manage to pull a 9-vote decision that fast if it was completely in their favor.

lol @ KingH. In all seriousness Robert, signing like that is just a style I picked up somewhere and it's now a habit that's hard to break. Especially after I write small novels... which is really hard for me to do right now

 

It's not uncommon for scum to bandwagon anything they see as 'safe'. Even if it makes sense numberswise, I don't think no-lynch earns anyone townie points on Day 1 - my personal opinion is that it denies town any posts to later make judgements about people. The more you can make people talk, the better - and the more someone tries to stay quiet or otherwise not make waves, the more it can catch notice. 

 

Anyway, CoD's right for now - see you in Day 2! If it starts before the weekend ends I might be a bit more active, but next week expect me to be busy - still out of town

I see your point Preston as we cant view any sort of voting pattern or anything since the day is set in stone at this point. Granted D1 votes don't really equate to much, it might've proven useful in later days depending how this game plays out. That slipped my mind when I brought the no-lynch/lynch debate up so early.

Still interested to see how the Night Actions go since it ended so fast, I think we have a few people who didn't even have time to respond at all. Anyway, onward to D2!

Wow that's pretty pathetic.  Less in 3 days into D1 and an already 9+ votes for NL to end the day.  I find it absolute garbage of a statement to make that there's nothing to gain on D1, as history has proven this to be a complete false statement.  There are things to look at, comments to read into, and voting patterns to be seen that may not lead to a lynch D1, but could help for tomorrow or a be a starting spot.  You'll have now taken that away with your quick NL vote.

It doesn't matter about even count benefit...you still shouldn't want the day to end without more to look at and comments to analyze.  I can guarantee there is scum hiding in the NL, likely many with how quick it got to 9 votes.   I'm surprised about some individuals on the NL vote that normally would not be so quick to do so, and would be against ending the day so quickly.  Fact is, you ended before a weekend that likely more people would be active.  

 

Speeding through days is not at all beneficial to town.

Harry decided that he had to tell Ron and Hermione about Sirius Black. Since they weren't alone in the carriage he spoke as quietly as he could even though Professor Lupin was asleep. Ron and Hermione were worried about Harry even though he didn't appear to be worried himself. Harry was more disappointed by the fact that Uncle Vernon did not sign his permission slip before he left the Dursley's house. With Black on the loose it was highly unlikely that Harry would be able to visit Hogsmeade this year. Ron and Hermione tried to downplay the prospect of the Hogsmeade visits even though it was difficult to disguise their excitement.

 

Hermione opened Crookshanks cage and started petting the cat. Crookshanks' gaze was fixated on Scabbers sitting on Ron's lap. The Hogwarts Express rumbled on through the countryside. As they moved further north the sky became extremely overcast and dark. A steady rain began to whip against the train's windows. Ron set Scabbers on the seat and reached into his trunk. Crookshanks took advantage of the opportunity and leapt off of Hermione and dove at Scabbers. Ron quickly turned around and grabbed the cat and threw it back at Hermione. "Keep that thing away from Scabbers," he said firmly. Hermione was getting ready to respond angrily when the train started to slow down.

 

"What's happening? We can't be there already," Hermione said. The train slowed to a crawl and then lurched into a halt. The lights flickered and went out. The storm was so violent outside now that it was as dark as midnight. Ron pressed his face against the window and strained his eyes to try and see outside. "I.. I think someone is coming aboard." The compartment door opened and Neville and Ginny stumbled inside asking if anyone knew what was happening.

 

The commotion had awoken Professor Lupin. He sat up and instructed everyone to be quiet as he listened carefully to hear what was happening. The temperature in the train was dropping rapidly. The rain drops on the outside of the window began to freeze into a sheet of ice. Lupin conjured a small flame that burned in the palm of his hand giving off a faint light. They could now hear something moving in the train's corridor. Through the frosted glass of the compartment door they could see a large shadow creep into view. The compartment door slid open as a towering cloaked figure moved into view. It's face was completely hidden under its hood. There was a hand protruding from the cloak. It was glistening, grayish, slimy looking, and scabbed. The temperature in the compartment dropped again and a roaring sound began to fill the room. Harry felt as though the cold was going to suffocate him.

Harry woke up to see Hermione, Ron, and Lupin standing over him as he lay on the floor of the compartment. The lights were back on and the train was moving again. Harry, remembering what had happened before he passed out, looked over at the door. The cloaked figure was gone.

 

"What was that thing?" Harry asked.

 

"That was a dementor," Lupin responded. "One of the guards of Azkaban prison." Lupin handed Harry a piece of chocolate and instructed him to eat it because it would help him recover. "I'm going to go have a word with the conductor," he said as he left the compartment.

 

Harry sat up slowly and leaned against the seat. "Did you guys hear that screaming?" he asked. Ron and Hermione looked puzzled. "What screaming?"

 

"I heard a woman screaming when the dementor entered the compartment." 

 

"It got really cold and it felt like all happiness was gone but I didn't hear screaming," Ron said.

 

"And did either of you faint?" Harry asked. Ron and Hermione both shook their heads. A feeling of embarrassment crept over Harry.

 

Finally the Hogwarts Express arrived at the station in Hogsmeade and the students all climbed into the carriages and made their way up to the castle. News of Harry's fainting spell had already circulated it seemed as Malfoy made his way over to Harry to tease him. Professor McGonagall met them all in the entrance hall and asked Harry and Hermione to follow her to her office. When they arrived, Madam Pomfrey was there waiting to examine Harry. He was already embarrassed enough as it was and now he had to get checked out by the school nurse. As soon as Madam Pomfrey completed her examination, Harry exited the office and stood outside the door waiting for Hermione who was still inside speaking with Professor McGonagall. When they emerged from the office a couple minutes later, the three of them made their way to the Great Hall to join the welcome feast. They had already missed the sorting ceremony.

 

Harry and Hermione made their way over to the Gryffindor table and sat down next to Ron. Professor Dumbledore stood up and delivered his welcome back speech. It had a different tone this year, however. It seemed to be more serious than usual as Dumbledore commented on the presence of the dementors at Hogwarts. He warned everyone to be careful: "It is not in the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you." Dumbledore finished making a couple start-of-term announcements and then announced two new Hogwarts professors -- Professor Lupin who would be taking over Defense Against the Dark Arts and Professor Hagrid who would be teaching Care of Magical Creatures. When Dumbledore was finished speaking, Filch hobbled over to him and whispered something into his ear. Dumbledore's generally calm expression turned to one of frustration as he stood up and quickly excused himself from the feast.

 

After the feast had ended Harry, Ron, and Hermione congratulated Hagrid on his new position and then made their way to Gryffindor Tower for the evening.

 

 

Professor Dumbledore (Lyner), a Hogwarts 3-Shot Role Cop, has left the feast to deal with the dementors on night 1.

 

 

It is now day 2. With 15 alive it takes 8 to lynch or 4 at deadline.

ok, day two has started, so only one death. Meaning probally one scum team. At least this should be simpler. 

 

We lost a role cop, before he could use his ablitys, so why choose Lyner? He's an experenced player, but I wonder why choose him?
