Make the UK Great Again

Featured Replies

If you're looking for indicators of the direction moving forward... it's right in front of your face. Once again my British cousins prove that it's more effective to light a candle than to curse the darkness. Globalists created a propaganda machine to influence our decisions... and it didn't work. We have your back, and the bust of Winston Churchill will take back it's rightful place in the White House.

Just curious, at which points do you think the U.K. was great, and when did it stop being great?

Farage can lick my balls through a spider gag.

The UK is great because of it's diversity, absorbing the best bits of other cultures into our own, it's highly connected global trade network, a system where we used to learn about other cultures so as to best do business with them, and not complaining about problems when we can fix them. That is what made the UK 'Great Britain', and it it why it shall always be 'great' while we continue to do that and tell the likes of Farage to take his disciples and go preach to the north sea cod he believes exist in vast enough numbers to support a 1950's size fishing fleet with 2016 technology.

Currently the UK, in my very American opinion, creates great TV shows, makes the best hats, and crafts a really good beer. The "Great" in Great Britain has not really hit the highest heights since The Beatles, but Brexit tells me there is much more to come. I have a Beatles poster in my man cave... right next to my new sign I got in Sedona that says... "Alcohol... because no great story ever started with someone eating a salad".

From this I am confused what you are using to define a great country?

From this I am confused what you are using to define a great country?

My wife and I make a pretty comfortable life. We spend the least amount of time possible doing that. We spend most of our time doing exactly what we want to do, at any given time.

Example: She's on a 7 day cruise right now with her Mother, while I'm here talking with you. Reason I'm not there: I would rather chew glass than be trapped on a floating buffet, for 7 days, with my Mother-in-law.

We avoid drama, keep a small circle of close friends, never interfere with anyone's lives, and make absolute sure that no one interferes with ours. We smile constantly. We love our lives, and spend no time on worry, indecision, or being "confused".

We see Progressives as the biggest threat to our happiness. We do everything possible to prevent them from changing our lives... and we do it while smiling. That to me, is a great America, and that would make any country great.

OMG... The more I read that sentence, the more I can't understand it. It's like every Democrat I know... they just don't want to be happy with anything. They are miserable people that live miserable lives, and will fight to their dying breath to force everyone around them to be just as miserable as they are. It doesn't matter if you like, or hate, Trump and Farage... I just wanted you to know that things are gonna happen... and we're gonna catch you cracking a smile when you think no one can see... whether you like it or not.

Sounds simple. Talk crap on lefties being miserable all you want, but for the most part, I think it might be because we don't live such simple lives. You strike me as someone who lives in a rural area and doesn't exactly go out of his way to meet people. Which wouldn't be bad. Just probably not the way many liberals live.

IMO Hillary and Trump are both equally terrible in their own ways. The one thing I can give to Trump that I seriously like is his opinion toward Russia, which is in a way, personal to me.

But in actual response to your comment, what exactly do you not like about progressivism? IMO, progressivism is our only hope as a species.

Can I answer that too? I love everything that Wikipedia article lists... Unfortunately too many who call themselves "progressives" are happy to curtail free speech, brand opinions they don't like as "-ist" or "-phobe" and are generally very intolerant of opinions not closely mirroring their own. This has become somewhat mainstream behavior with the American left, Europe only being slightly better.

True. I think you might be thinking more along the lines of SJW's though. Whom IMO are just intolerant leftists. Funny enough, they seem to often express themselves as privileged college students, complaining about the privileges they don't even even realize they have.

Other than that, many other progressives might seem intolerant because we press for constant change rather than statisticism. But I don't think most of us are intolerant. I think it's more fair to say we just cant stand the staticism of conservatism and by definition, will always oppose it.

Good Morning Sweetheart! So sorry this took so long, but I turned everything off to watch Negan push Rick around again and grab some sleep. I live in Las Vegas, so I am far from living in a rural area, but yes I do go out of my way to drastically limit how many people I have to deal with. I created my own business many years ago. I work at home. It takes me about 3 hours to finish my work for the week because I have been doing it so long I could probably do it blindfolded. I only have to leave for about an hour, once every week or two, I only have to say hello to about 3 people. It takes about 10 minutes total, to get my money that goes directly to my wife, I deliver my work, and pick up new supplies. I like it this way, and I created it to maximize my freedom.

My problem with Progressives all boils down to the Constitution, our Republic, and the role of the Federal Government. Our Constitution was crafted to intentionally limit the power of the Federal Government. It is a contract between the American people and their elected Government that details exactly what power the Government is allowed to have. If you read it, you will find the words "Congress shall not" many times throughout the document. Through the years, many groups going by several different names, Progressives being one, have been chipping away at this contract for one purpose... to eliminate it. To people like me, it's treason.

It doesn't matter if you believe that "Progressivism is our only hope as a species". It's not the job of the Federal Government to get involved in the beliefs of anyone. We have 50 State Governments quite capable of dealing with all your beliefs, if they want to do so.

Curtail free speech part... What specifically do you understand by that. I'm assuming you would agree that free speech is curtailed by definition, as it is always and without exception limited by inalienable rights of everyone else.

But a constitution is not an effigy left in time. It is a document that 'lives' and adapts to the society that it governs. It needs to adapt to better reflect its morals, its expectations, its dynamics, etc etc

What a constitution should not do, and never means to do, is 'freeze' a certain view/interpretation in time. That would defeat the purpose of bothering to actually write it down. Clearly, a lot of discussion should be put towards how and to what extent individual provisions of the constitution may be interpreted to allow for the evolution of a given society, but that is a different topic altogether.

My own maximum personal utility does not equate to a high national utility, nor does it necessarily imply I will have a high utility in a year from now. If I find happiness in rape or murder then in your "good" country I am free to do those at will with no recourse, for I am simply indulging in those things which make me happy?

I don't agree in any way with the liberal trend of "-phobe", "-ist", "safe space", "triggers", or other such bullshit. Safe spaces destroy intellectual debate as much as people who pontificate without engaging with what the person on the other side is telling them.

I don't see why you perceive liberals to be miserable? I have friends from across the spectrum, and those who hold either end are similarly unhappy, the far right is angry at everything and the far left is anxious about everything while people in the middle just raise a finger to things and get on with what they enjoy doing.

I drive where I want, do whatever sport I want, go to any country I want, spend my money how I want, listen to the music I love, watch films I like, laugh with my friends, make love to beautiful women, can walk past someone of any colour in the street without fear of being mugged / attacked / shot / whatever your word of choice, can treat anyone who is sick without asking them how much they earn, name my child what I want, vote or not vote how I please...

I love my life, I have a great time. I consider myself to be free (bar the requirements of debts, not breaking the law - ie not shooting random peeps because they annoy me), no one is master of my life but me, and to be quite frank that has doesn't mean I live in a great country or a shit one... Just that I live somewhere that suits me and my needs.

That's what Constitutional Amendments are for. We have too many attempts to devise devious ways to get around, or all out avoid, the Constitution... because it's just too hard, or impossible, for Progressives to get what they want. They pass legislation, and take their chances with the courts that they keep stacking with Progressive Judges. I would love to hear, just once, our Congress say one time, all in unison... "Well, that's not our job"... that would be epic, and one for the history books.

Just in case you missed it on the page turn.

Oh, I get it now... you want me to answer these questions. Okay, I'll play...

Is a good/great country one where you can walk through any neighbourhood pissed off your tits without fear of assault?

I'm so sorry but I'm an American. I have no idea what "pissed off your tits" means. If you mean walking down the street provoking people to beat your ass... I believe you should get your ass beat.

Is a good/great country one where justice treats all equally?

Yes... you will have to ask Hillary Clinton the same question.

Is a good/great country one where no one slept on the street or went to sleep hungry?

No... I hope I have not given the impression that I am a Socialist.

Is a good/great country one where the population love the leadership?

No... that would be a wonderful thought, but not everyone will love the leadership.

Is a good/great country one where everyone can retire at 50 and live out their lives horse riding / cruising on rivers / fishing / filming orgies?

If you're smart enough to manage that, sure... but no one is entitled to it. I will work until I can't anymore, but I will never be filming orgies.

Is a good/great country one with the strongest military?

Yes... the primary job of the Federal Government is to protect the citizens.

Is a good/great country one with the strongest economy?

Yes.

Is a good/great country one with the greatest biodiversity?

No.

Is a good/great country one with the best universities?

It's a good thing... but do they have to be the best?

Is a good/great country one with the most Nobel prizes?

No. Useless. Ask Bob Dylan how important they are.

Is a good/great country one with the lowest murder rate?

No.

Is a good/great country one with the greatest individual freedoms?

Yes.

Is a good/great country one with the lowest tax rate?

This has everything to do with the previous economy question.

Is a good/great country one with the most decisive government?

As in acting quickly? Yes. Small, local issues are elevated to a Federal level too often and blown up into national arguments that keep the country fighting over stupid, unimportant things... it's what Progressives do to undermine and create chaos in our lives. Their goal is to get everyone depending on them.

But a constitution is not an effigy left in time. It is a document that 'lives' and adapts to the society that it governs. It needs to adapt to better reflect its morals, its expectations, its dynamics, etc etc   What a constitution should not do, and never means to do, is 'freeze' a certain view/interpretation in time. No, that's not what the amendments are for... God forbid. A constitution is the highest law of the land, the very fabric of (order) of a nation. It should be handled with trembling hands especially in circumstances when wishes to amend it.

Amendments should be few and far between, and even then outmost care should be taken that there throughly is a need for interference with the meaning behind the wording of a constitution. Remedy by way of amendments tends to be equally bad (if not worse) than inventions of activist ('progressive') judges.

I have to note that you seem to have a very one sided view of the judicial branch... practice though, usually shows that the higher (in hierarchy) the court the more conservative its views...

I don't understand. It appears you're disagreeing with me at first, and then backing up your disagreement, with agreement. Amending the Constitution is extremely difficult to do, and it's intended to be. I agree with you about me... I do have a one sided view of the judiciary... follow the Constitution. It's not their job to like it, hate it, or try to get around it because they feel it's just not up to the times. If it's not included in the Constitution, it is left to the States to decide. If "We The People" decide it's not up to the times... we can amend it. It's really a very simple concept.
