You wake up in the morning, and, yawning, all head to the canteen to get something to eat and begin the day's discussion. After a minute, you realise you're missing someone.
A quick search of the corridors finds Junkahoolik, stabbed in the back with a broken shard of glass. You shortly realise he was wearing a Guard's uniform. You look for his keys, to try and search his office - but they've all been taken from his belt.

Junkahoolik, COP, has been killed N1.

It is now DAY 2.
Deadline is MONDAY 29TH JUNE, as late in the evening (GMT) as I can end the day.

This sucks obviously. It's not the nail in the coffin since we have lots of time left but it still quite a shock to see our cop killed. The good news is that only person was killed and I doubt that we have any serial killers. Now we have to rely on good analysis more than ever. Time to read some posts.

We are going to need to rely on very good scumhunting to catch the bad guys now. Also, no more "no-lynch" stuff. Only one person was killed during the night, so that means that there is (probably) no vigilante/SK. Basically, we need to vote and kill these guys before our numbers become to small to do so.

I'm going to read through the dialect that junka had with other folks and see if I can pull any clues out of the thread.

So Falzis, you've never been afraid to speak your mind before, why so secretive now? I'd love to hear your theories unless you have a good reason for keeping them hidden for now.

I went back and read all of junkaholic's posts. He never appeared to make any enemies or make hard accusations against anyone. He argued against KevinH's no lynch strategy but stated he didn't think it was fair to lynch Kevin over it. He also FOS'd Sojourner but said there wasn't any hard evidence against him but later voted for him anyway. Other than that he didn't make too many waves. As for why he was targeted first, I believe it was more luck than anything. I didn't pick up any hints that he was the cop by his posts and don't think anyone else could either. Perhaps he was targeted because he was so active as I believe Narsis said.

Well, so much for playing follow the cop.

anyway, he couldn't have an investigation since we started on the day. so basically, we are back at square one(like yesterday) more or less.

Well I think the scum is more likely to be a veteran of playing Mafia games. Reading off junk's death, it would appear a very lucky NK. But junk could have very well been targeted because he was the most active.

Now why would that have been a smart NK instead of a lucky one? Simple. There were WIFOM posts here stating that usually the most active ones are those with power roles and I don't know if it's a breadcrumb but I'm pretty sure the scum knew this that's why they tried their luck to the person that was most active.

I have more suspicions but I'm going to cohere my thoughts first before I post it. I wouldn't want to lay all my cards and have the tables turned on me by the mafia once I put pressure. I'm going to have to fight experts... and I'm presuming they would try to counter me. But for now I suggest you look at the meta-game and WIFOM posts. Look for internal player consistency and posts in relation to junk's death.

That's very reductionist. And it's not even logical. Why would sojo kill junkaholic just because he voted for him assuming sojo is scum? Why not EM or I? We were more persistent in pushing the vote, junk just hopped on the wagon.

And considering you were pushing for a No Lynch, it's preposterous for you to look at voting patterns to decipher who might be scum since, guess what, only a few people voted so your insight is limited.

Plus I don't think if sojo were scum he'd kill a person who voted for him and who wasn't the one calling for his head persistently (junk was very flippant). It would be too obvious. Now I would expect scum to kill a person who has voted to point suspicion to the one who was voted.

It was in the scum's interest to lynch on the first day. Only 2 of the remaining players actually tried to lynch. Hmmm ....

No. That's your point of view. A No Lynch is in the scum's best interest even if you have a cop because it hides voting patterns and information from the town which is the only source of power we have! Plus I'd rather trust an unbiased mafiascum wiki than you in regards to analysis of the No Lynch strategy, and the wiki states mafia has higher chances of winning every day a No Lynch happens.

And what 2 remaining players?

Anyways you're not your usual self. The Kevin I know would lay out scenarios yes and analyze them yes and look for townie win conclusions yes. But the Kevin I know does not post WIFOMs about role fishing persistently and so cravenly all through out Day 1. Like mafiascum wiki says, those who smealt it dealt it. Meaning those who usually role fish are those who either have that role or mafia. You're not the cop. So what are you?
