OOC: Really hating these overnight shifts this week. Only two more to go and hopefully I can get out of this constant mental fog I'm feeling right now.

 

Seems the thread exploded a bit between being at work and taking a nap these past few hours. I'll have to try and go back through it at some point tomorrow and try to make sense of it all.

So iSoc has already been touched on a bit. Been mentioned already that his posts up to this point are fluff. More interestingly his posts #154 and #156 (which were after the quote). No relevant content in either post, but it seems iSoc is either screwing with us or went off the deep end quoting game theory and wonder his post #156 was supposed to be.

 

That said, I'd like to touch on something I've always believed. So often I see people saying, "oh, it's day 1, there's nothing to go on". Yes, there's nothing concrete to ever go on, but if you wait for the concrete to pour, you may be waiting forever. However, you have to look at interactions and see where your gut lies. With the whole Kitkat love pyramid going on, it's who do you believe more. Do you think Kitkat is the scummiest of all people ever or do you think maybe Brewers is the one to target? Or do you think a no lynch is the way to go? (which you'd be wrong).

 

Also, one last tidbit in the Frigid files that happened to catch my eye before attempting to dissect everything later:

 

Post #145 - Legit question, but how does one screw up day / night phases that badly? I understand you're new to forum mafia, but does it not follow the same day / night phases as Town of Salem? However, doing a quick skim back, it does match with his post #43 in terms of day / night cycle screw ups, so there is that.

Most of my day one is trolling, but requires me to be poke first. Fluff? .... yeah, it's fluff I never have denied it. Day one is not when I'm alive. The best I can do is stay alive till later.

Canik started off the game with a lulz vote but hasnt really posted anything of significance. Canik then placed a vote on GoldIron for not posting anything of significance in the game when in fact thats exactly what Canik has also done.

I actually like the theoretical article excerpt.

Mafia might vote for each other day one, but they'll most likely switch out before the lynch occurs. So voting patterns can be analyzed later in the game after some roles are revealed.

My point about not knowing nothin' is that it seems that some players are reading way too much into the actions of other uninformed players.

Day one has value. We can learn who's active and who's not. We can get a few voting patterns for later use.

​For the most part I agree with him. Because odds are you'll lynch town not scum. That's why I don't want to risk it on an active player who could be helpful later. But with an inactive we're not risking as much. Plus people for real get overwhelmed/intimidated when they're scum and often times at least one of the scum go inactive. Then they, sometimes, get replaced later and everyone is like "He just joined the game, give him a chance. It'd be rude to lynch someone who just kindly filled in so we'd have a fully active game, etc".

Yeah but with a no lynch D1, you dont have the chance to analyze the lynch wagon on D2.  If scum gets lynched d1, you have the chance to look at who was on the wagon and who was avoiding it, and if it ends up being town, you can at least analyze who was selling the wagon the most.  If we end up doing a no lunch D1, the scum will still kill someone at night and then come D2 we dont have a wagon to dissect and go over.   so I feel the advantages of a lynch out weighs no lynch.

D1 is never day one without the pro and cons of no-lynch. I would add that wagons also help PR to figure out who they're going to target. One wagon won't do too much, the more the better. You can even theorize multiple wagons will give you a better chance of hitting scum. If we lynch town though, people will think scum were on the wagon, and it's rarely a case anymore. Leading distraction for the next day. I would just advised people to keep an open mind once the next day begins.

I haven't touched that aspect of it, wagon analysation, but that's basically what I've been saying since early today, that a no lynch is a bad idea.

I have some useful info, and some suspects but not enough to vote yet definitely. So, I still maintain my FoS, but for the reason of "don't know nothin' jus yet" I'm willing to lynch an inactive on day 1, also for reasons stated by Canik.

Who do you think has been the least contributing member today, Canik? Apart from GoldIron some people may have 5-6 posts, but all joke / fluff and at under a week to deadline they are a bit late for that, right?

​Even if it's fluff that is better than nothing. Some people just don't take D1 that seriously. It's all speculation. We can grill those people more tomorrow if they still have nothing to add.

​So I'd say GoldIron.. maybe Lachiton. Has he been posting? And Rafay has posted some, he made a post recently, but he's definitely pushing it.

True and for that reason when there are no power roles lynching D1 can make a lot of sense. When town has investigation roles tho and the mafia have extra kills it's supposed to be the safer play to no lynch. In this game tho we can't be sure what roles we or mafia have. Surely we have some investigation but rolecop, tracker, etc, may not tell us much. Cops the real relevant one and if I were Mafia I'd have bidded for Cop first to deprive town of it.

Really because at of the I've played mafia when I started in around 2006, I've only seen 1 successful Day 1 lynch. Even when the person seemed scummy as hell. So I'm all for keeping the day going since we get so much time on these boards, but I don't see a point in voting no lynch just yet. And yes, even though I think Lego could be scum, I'd remove my vote before he would be lynched. 

 

But if I hade to put my top 3, I only have two. Isoc and Lego. it be a streach to put on GoldIron or Canik as I don't have a read on them.

Lots of reading today lol. I was prepared for more allegations against me .

 

On the whole day/night cycle things i blame lack of sleep(i mean, the threat of the mafia breathing down my neck, eugh). I need some heavy knockout stuff to even sleep at all anymore, so its certainly felt like longer. But yeah not thinking straight. I slept pretty well the night before last, and realized my mistake lmao.

 

Going off of Roberts post i feel like lego is a good guy, although some of the things he's said puts me off, such as "I've already drawn so much attention to myself." basically he's saying "How could i be mafia?" idk its a gut feeling.

 

I'm staying on canik cause he needs to do something about this, he is the founder after all. Not to mention he needs to lay off the drink *Bleaches eyes after seeing him run naked sown the street*

Second, that means nothing of the sort --> my meaning was more that I'm admitting that I could be mafia, that I could be shown as looking like mafia, that I'm not able to prove that I am definite town, because a) no mafia would claim to be mafia except kitkat, and I can't utterly prove my townness just yet. I know my role and flavor, but I can't prove it yet, so I'm not going to publish it abroad.

See this is my problem with the "no lynch" voters on day 1. If you are going to openly state days in advance that you will ultimately vote no lynch on day 1, then what the heck is the point of voting or trying to pressure anyone at all? What sort of meaningful reaction to do you expect from anyone if you are only applying faux pressure to just simply unvote them and vote no lynch before the day ends? What is the point?
