Plane Crash II - Game Thread - GAME OVER!

Another day, another plane. Captain "Anger-Management" Tilden (As he was known secretly by the crew) had always been proud of how he handled the flights on his plane. Always smooth, orderly, and comfortable for the passengers. And he intended to keep it that way, he reflected, carrying his bags through the airport terminal. Today's flight was to be a tedious one over the atlantic. But never mind.

Got to keep alert, he mused as his bags went through a scanner. Terrorists were everywhere these days. The takeoff was, as always, impeccable. The passengers seemed fairly happy, apart from that hungover one complaining about the lack of painkillers, and Tilden settled himself down for a smooth flight.

A few hours into the flight, the door to the cockpit was nudged open, breaking the silence. Tilden stiffened. It was probably that flight attendant. It was no secret amongst the crew that Tilden had a thing for her. But he didn't care. He wasn't about to ruin his chances by shouting again.

"Ah, Marie, could you-"

That was as far as he got. Looking at the reflection in the window, he saw a man in plain clothes. A passenger? He was striding up to Tilden with purpose. Tilden's eyes widened as he saw the flash of a blade. He opened his mouth to speak, but couldn't. A knife was swiftly drawn across his throat. He choked, swiftly passing into unconsciousness.

And yet no-one noticed the 2 dead pilots in the cockpit. Marie, the flight attendant, was about halfway through serving drinks. She glanced to the left, flashed a fake smile to the passenger before seeing he was unconscious.

She sighed, and rolled her eyes, recognising the passenger as the one with the hangover. She was about to turn away, when something caught her eye. Had he spilt coffee on himself? She sighed again, reaching for some napkins.

Wait. That wasn't coffee.

She screamed, noticing the blood spread out over the man's torso. The passenger's heads turned round to look at her. The man's pocket identified him as a Police officer.

It was happening again...

At this point, we don't know who the mafia are and the mafia don't know who has power roles. There's not going to be any real strategy in getting into rooms based on roles. However, if the mafia need to get into the cockpit we can potentially stop them. (or maybe they need the W.C. ...)

I'd like to get into a room with 2 other townies, please!

from past experience: the mafia do not need to enter the cockpit. the plane crashes regardless.

There has been good debate on both sides of the issues.

It seems that most townies believe that a lynch is the best decision for the town because it will put 3 people in each room, ensuring that we will have a 50/50 chance of lynching mafia the next day. Plus it will give us an extra day of voting patterns to go off. I am fine with this strategy.

The other debate on list/no list still rages.

I believe forced lists still give us the best option, others agree, still others do not. I propose that we all vote either for PRO LIST or ANTI LIST and once a majority (7) is reached, that will be the decision we follow.

I'll vote first......

PRO LIST

just a thought but what exactly do you mean by hybrid? do you mean choosing only the first one or maybe two people to go into a room and then having free choice beyond that? or do you mean something else?

The Hybrid Plan:

The plan is that we would follow the sign up list in order and in that order choose our room order. The first four people would be forced to pick the four separate rooms. Then the fifth person would pick a room to double up in and the next three would follow suit and not until the ninth person would pick to be the third person in the room. I think this would be the best strategy because it would allow us the rigid scum control of the list and the ability to extrapolate from peoples room selection.

At this point we have 3 PRO LIST and 1 ANTI LIST votes. I'll cast my vote with the ANTI LIST team for now. The anti list choice is a risk, that I grant you but, I don't see how we can expect to gain nearly as much information from assignments off a list. That said, I think we can dramatically reduce that risk by using the Hybrid Plan. I'm going to vote ANTI LIST because we need to chose but, I am stating right now that I think a random choice strategy does not help the town. We need to have an order to the votes to prevent a scum take over. The best way to do that I can see is to use the sign up sheet. I think the lesser of two evils is choosing because although the scum will get an edge in being fast acting if its random, we need the information that only assignments without a list can provide.

Concurring opinion for ANTI LIST. I'd still like some more feedback on using the aforementioned plan.

I voted pro list, but even with a list or room assignment chart anyone can deviate (albeit at the expense of being labeled scum for the next day) and with only one move for your night position I'd rather have that first night set firmly as possible so any changes will help in the next day's scum hunt.

but no one is going to be stupid enough to change!

I like this.

PRO HYBRID

EBWOP

Of course, I like this too.

What do other people think?

If we are okay counting it an option (and I don't see why not since I'm not the only loon that thinks this is a good idea :P)

No longer ANTI LIST

PRO HYBRID

Thanks for the support Falzis.

So it's 2,3,6,9 and 1,4,7,8 right on two nights? Which could be interchangeable.

Alright I believe we're coming into a consensus? Any dissenting opinions or healthy debates? There might be things Aquinas or people who support his idea haven't seen?

VOTE COUNT

i'm good for a list though first i'd like some conversation first before we make it. so let's start making it friday. then we can sit back and have enough time to discuss it too.

PRO-LIST

I feel like we have a great opportunity to reduce the amount of variables in play during this game. We should methodically root out the mafia, it won't be hard if we keep the game settings (list) rigidified.
