  2. Microsoft's culture and treatment of its workers is vastly better than Activision Blizzard so just from that standpoint alone this seems like a big win for employees at Activision Blizzard. It makes me hopeful that they will push games the same direction as some of their other games where you can play on console and then move to pc and start up the same save, as well as allowing cross platform play on some of their games. It should also be noted that this isn't the first time Microsoft has bought a studio/publisher, they have purchased many before this just not as large of one obviously. Meaning this isn't a new thing for them and are thus less likely to fuck up the games/brand of Activision Blizzard in the process and id argue would likely make the brand better/stronger eventually. Maybe i'll be proven wrong but those are my thoughts on it.
  3. New MMO that I am hopeful about. Ashes of Creation. There is a good amount of information available including chats with lead. (Who also self funded the development) I am definitely giving it a chance when it releases.
  4. I started playing classic wow on Ashkandi with some relatives. Fun and nostalgic. Unfortunately they all started playing alliance so I'm currently stuck on the loser side... Not that it matters considering its not even a PVP server so meh, no holding the Stormwind bank hostage anyways
  5. Every SSD I ever used has bottlenecked when writing to it. I don't have that issue with raided HDD. For my uses, I get the best performance from my setup and that is proven through actual application. That being said it isn't a one size fits all so what works best for me is simply what's best for me.
  6. I recommend running a smaller SSD just for booting and not really anything else, then get a couple cheaper HDDs and run a simple software raid for storage/games. Cheaper and will get faster read-write than an SSD. If you are going to be doing heavy re-writing to your drives then I wouldn't recommend an SSD. SSDs are great for holding storage to be read fast but if you want to be writing to drives frequently with consistent long term performance then use an HDD. Heavy constant re-writing to an SSD will exhaust the memory cells. If you are set on getting a SSD then get a newer model with large storage space. Their writing algorithms help prevent uneven wear on the memory cells and larger drives with more cells help distribute the wear over more cells allowing for greater lifespan.
  7. As someone who doesn't use marijuana but has been in the industry in Washington State since it became recreationally legal almost 4 years ago, I can state with some authority on the subject that it has had an overwhelmingly positive impact. Not only did crime rates drop after legalization but the economic impact has been huge. Washington state alone sales over 1 bilion dollars worth of marijuana a year (close to 1.5billion now I believe). 37% is taken as marijuana taxes, 6.5% is state sales tax, and another 4% or so goes to local municipalities tax. It has also had the added benefit of increasing education of the plant and its various cannabinoids.

  9. I remember the 2013 NFC championship game when he was relevant and still seemed to care. He seemed to have lost heart and gave up trying somewhere along the way and until he cares about football and striving to be the best again he will never be relevant. As far as the kneeling thing goes just like it's an individual's right to do what they want, it's the individuals who own the teams he wants to play on to decided to employ him or not. If he actually was willing to sacrifice for something he believed in he wouldn't be whining to a court about how people are expressing their desire to not employ him. It's a rather contradictory approach. Not to mention his statement of how the "country" is oppressing people of color Is offensive. I'm part of that country he is calling out and I don't know where the fuck he gets off telling me I'm oppressing people... If he wanted to actually make a difference he would attack the perceived issue and not attack a nation of people of which most would probably take his side and support him in his cause. His execution leaves much to be desired and while he could have potentially done a lot of good, he will instead go down as a footnote in history without having accomplished anything of substance.
  10. I feels for Croatia, overall they played better than France and showed just how hungry they were for the win. Unfortunately despite not giving up the whole game they just couldn't recoup from the 2 unlucky goals against them in that first half. That's sports for you though, without the ups and downs it just wouldn't be any fun to watch
  11. They had the momentum but couldn't hold on.
  12. I would say the majority of my shooting with ARs stay within the 50-100 meters range but I'll engage out to 300 meters if I'm somewhere that can facilitate those distances. I don't just shoot ARs though so really it just depends where and with what I'm shooting.
  13. I have a red dot with a flip up magnifier on my ar pistol that is a lot of fun to use.
  14. Honestly, if all you are doing with it is range shooting at a stationary single target you don't really need anything else. At most a foregrip and sight of your preference. Foregrips can make extended use more comfortable and improve control to some extent but remember that any attachments add weight increasing fatigue decreasing performance during extended shooting sessions. I would personally try to change out parts for lighter pieces but I'm a fan of trying to lighten my load wherever possible while trying not to sacrifice performance where it's needed. That being said I'm in the military so I usually consider things from what I would want out of my service rifle so it is important to identify what role(s) you want this rifle to take and build it with that task(s) in mind. Alternatively, the only registered party is the lower receiver so you could build multiple uppers and just swap them out based on what you want to do that day.
  15. This would be impossible to scale up to any meaningful size without governments backing it to help fund infrastructure improvements on a global scale. Just to stay viable the company is going to use what it captures to make fuel to sell otherwise they would only be burning money and investments would eventually dry up. This is at best a band-aid and not a long-term solution. It is definitely a step in a good direction but claiming it will "deal with climate change" would be grossly overstating its ability and can, in fact, be detrimental to the long-term effort towards the end goal of an ultimately net-negative global CO2 emission.
  16. The problem with an online game is it becomes far less immersive than a single player game. Take ESO for example, the game is fine however when you enter a cave that supposedly hasn't been entered in thousands of years only to see some asshat jumping and running out of it like a retard all sense of immersion is instantly shattered... Online multiplayer usually comes at the cost of destroying the role-play elements of a heavy story driven RPG game. Much of Fallout's appeal over the years has been the immersion into the story and feeling of being able to effect change based on the player's individual choices. It is extremely unlikely that they can keep such elements in an online game. Honestly, I expect an entirely different type of game whose only tie to fallout is that it will be set in the Fallout universe. If you go into this expecting a traditional Fallout game you will probably be disappointed. This doesn't mean the game will be bad, just that it won't be "Fallout".
  17. 9/11 and airport retrofits did nothing to stop anything. The TSA and all those additional visible "security measures" are nothing but security theater done to make people feel better through the illusion of increased security. All that happened post 9/11 was the government used the fear of the people to pass through measures that are needlessly intrusive and violate the constitutional rights of Americans. So I'm unsure how treating this like post 9/11 airports will help anything? Statistically, the chances of anyone getting shot in a school is almost nothing. To devote millions to retrofit schools, whatever that even means, would frankly be an enormous waste of resources. People become emotionally charged when something can pose a risk that they haven't already assimilated and accepted in their life and that becomes doubly true when kids are involved. Fear is a poor driver of policy...
  18. At one point he is crawling while one-handedly firing a fully automatic machine gun with very little recoil... Don't get me wrong I'll play this game but I'm not going to be holding my breath in anticipation... I'll save that for http://postscriptumgame.com/
  19. Not sure how this has become a discussion on education but my 2 cents... The world is too interconnected so no matter how much you wish to educate your children in a bubble they will inevitably be exposed to the greater world in time. Humans are social by nature and only through external stimulus can we expand our knowledge and understanding, especially culturally. While it's agreed by everyone that public schools are not the best means of formal education they do teach social skills and provide opportunities that alone most households would be incapable of providing. While I would agree it isn't the government's job to ensure that each child gets an education it is in the best interest of society as a whole to work together to educate children as they are the necessary workforce and foundation of our future. Pooling resources, in our case that is through public schools, are the means by which we do that. The parent's job is to instill in their children the ethics and morals by which to guide their life, no single individual knows all subjects nor is everyone skilled at passing along knowledge to others. Educating and growing in isolation will eventually reach a point of stagnation, history has proven that. Only through the sharing of ideas and working as part of a larger group can we, society and humanity as a whole, continue to advance, improve, and overcome the ever increasingly difficult challenges we face as we move into the future.
  20. I like how people use generational terms as if they are something that actually exists... RH when you mentioned semicolons I could only think of the lonely island song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M94ii6MVilw
  21. i have it but haven't played much
  22. As a gun owning American in the army reserves I can tell you that there are fuckers in the military (some soft MOS's mind you) that I don't even trust with weapons :/ I'm all for responsible gun ownership but there are multiple laws I would vote to change. Namely requiring some base level safety course and a digitally maintained and searchable database of firearm sales... on a side note I'm really looking forward to my suppressor for my mcx virtus in .300 blackout
  23. Arguments tend to lose effectiveness when you start to make personal attacks as people then focus on the attack and not on any of the logical points you may have made. If your goal is to vent then that's fine but if you hope to persuade or make change happen that's probably not the best way to go about it. Plus using stereotypes tends to lead people to discredit your argument as it shows a clear lack of understanding of the very target audience you hope to influence.
