  1. My actions certainly appear scummy to some of you. Indeed, there's nothing I can say to rebut them - I did what I felt like at the time that would help the town. - I stated my confidence in there being no third parties based on the battlefield being 2-way, and my knowledge of setups. - I opposed the midday plan because I thought it wouldn't work. You should know this one by now. - ONE of the reasons I switched to No Lynch because the maths honestly made sense about when we'd be losing. I thought I'd give it a go. I voted on principle that Day 1 no-lynching is always anti-town. Maybe I was wrong, but I hope to god I'll live to find out. And to be quite honest, I hope I'm proved wrong so I can go back to voting for KevinH without remorse for it. Now, I'd like to ask you something - if I were scum, or in any way hostile to the town, would I really be so stupid to do such things? To blatantly state my confidence in there being no 3rd parties? To oppose a plan which the majority of the town were for? To switch my vote to a KevinH-style no-lynch? I have done very little apart from attract attention today, and I've drawn the flak for it. If I die, I hope you realise that different does not necessarily mean scummy - and I know you'll really regret it. Not just a little bit. But quite a lot.
  2. Let's say I've reconsidered. I'm willing to try this out a few reasons, none of which I'm going to share for... a few reasons which are different to the first few.
  3. OK. I agree that I'll get more information than normal through a NL, and since we're not going to achieve a lynch before deadline, let's give this a shot. Unvote Vote: No-lynch
  4. No, it wouldn't. However, we're never going to agree with each other. Shall we move on?
  5. Track me down a shovel, will ya? It's really a pain doing it with my hands. But, really, why's that? Because I think Narsis is a competent mod?
  6. I suppose it is. However: - If it's something to do with the Role PM, it's invalid - scum will probably have been given a copy of the Townie Role PM. - I don't see what other 'Townie Knowledge' there could be. Feel free to fill me in. 1. If the world were perfect, it could have worked out like that. It isn't. Other posts could and would have effected the battlefield and skewed the results. 2. Why do you persist in discussing it anyway when it's impossible?
  7. This. Someone spotting a hint doesn't confirm their alignment, why on earth would you think it does? If anything, bringing the hint to everyone's attention by these repeated games of "What-page-is-it-on" means the scum are much more likely to look and find it. Which sort of defeats the point of a breadcrumb and gives them much more information - and then by knowing where it is they can get themselves confirmed as town by you to boot. (For the record, I haven't seen it.)
  8. Hang on. Are you saying you're confirming people as town by whether they saw a 'hint' or not?
  9. How on earth is that a scumtell? Because I didn't go along with a majority idea that, in your eyes, would help the town? I have explained my position on this enough, I think it would have harmed more than it would have helped - me not supporting it was me trying to be pro-town.
  10. I did it quite a lot, anyway. *shrug* - Exactly. Those things could have severely affected it, and one of them probably would have. - I disagree. There are so many different ways that scum can affect the balance (I'll give examples if you wish), it was essentially WIFOM and completely and utterly useless - unless the result tipped MAJORLY torwards scum or MAJORTLY towards town - which, again, is very unlikely. I still stand by my stance that it wouldn't have worked. - Which would mean that people other than the Top 3 could've played quite a major part in tipping the balance - meaning we would quite happily lynch one of the top 3 when it might not have been them at all which tipped the balance.
  11. No. No. Just, no. Whilst the strategy meant well, and it was (probably) submitted with the town in mind, it would not have worked! Which I'm sure I've explained several times over. Please go back and read what I'm saying and counteract my points before mindlessly voting me claiming my experience would be enough to make me want to use it.
  12. - Never said I suspected you! - Could you share those reasons with us for KevinH being town? Got to say I disagree with your logic though. Without the midday battlefield update, you have no way of knowing whether the battlefield's swinging heavily towards town or otherwise. For all you know, scum are lurking and we're really pushing forward. It's easy for scum to WIFOM us into lynching townies (such as myself) by doing this. I understand where you're coming from. However. It's an anti-town strategy, it's scummy, so I'm voting for it. Why do you need to demonstrate that you're not fixated? Finding someone you think is scummy and persuing them is a good thing, as long as it's not overdone. Have you considered anyone else? Why only us 2?
  13. "Other than the no-lynch"? Sure, you could always say "Apart from the case on KevinH, why KevinH?". Doesn't work like that. Are you suggesting we don't lynch people with large post counts? Seriously?
  14. Why is my KevinH vote scummy? Mafia isn't a game of numbers.
  15. I don't understand the reasoning for your vote, CD.
  16. Right, then! Back to scumhunting! Unvote Vote: KevinH Vote for someone, dammit. WHY WE SHOULD LYNCH TODAY: 1. We have a chance of hitting scum. 2. Every post we make which is scumhunting and getting towards a lynch is contribution to the battlefield, which we can then win. No-lynching is anti-town since there's no discussion. 3. Using the No-Lynch strategy means scum can easily conceal themselves by agreeing to it to seem pro-town, and whittling down our numbers overnight. 4. Voting analysis can be used on Day 2, and scumhunting becomes so much easier. 5. The more discussion we have, the more likely scum are to slip up. Do something pro-town today! Lynch someone! :speak_cool:
  17. It could very well harm me, doesn't mean I'm scum, does it? Fine, fine, I'll support the update. But I hope everyone will realise how futile this is when the results are wide open to interpretation and don't show us anything about who's scum with any level of confidence. Maybe then we can actually scumhunt, hmm?
  18. I meant about voting the lurker, actually. my bad, I should've trimmed more of the quote. Lots. And every single one of those times we've got valuable information from that Day 1 where we lynched. I'm quite happy to do it again.
  19. What? Why? And what you can see in the last few pages is completely why this strategy can't and won't work. 1) People post when they want to. They can have periods of more activity. They won't be constrained by people saying "Hey dude post less so we can find scum". A "nominated" person to post might drop down and be overtaken because of RL or whatever. The aim of this game is not to discourage activity by people, it's to encourage it for everyone to help their faction. 2) I imagine with such a large amount of posting everyone will be at an even-ish keel in terms of posts. Thus, using them to try and track scum is next to impossible. 3) 'Content' posts are completely subjective. What person considers to have content the mod might not. Hell, he might even discount posts which talk about using this method to find scum for all we know. Thus, using this method, we may get it completely wrong. WHY WE SHOULD SCUMHUNT INSTEAD: The more dead scum, the less they can influence the battlefield in their favour. And even if we don't, for instance on Day 1, the posts we make don't have to be correct to be counted as contentful and to influence the battlefield in our favour.
  20. Excellent. I'd unvote, but I've no-one else to go for and a pressure vote is better than no vote at all. @Martino - You talked about people posting meaningfully and not double posting so you can get a vote count up. Now, I may be wrong, but I thought the whole point of this content judging system was to see us meaninfully hunt scum, and not try to outguess the mod at how well we're doing. We're still playing Mafia - our goal is still to lynch scum.
  21. Why not? At the time I posted, he hadn't made a post yet. Counts as lurking to me. His was just the first name I saw. How so? I didn't read it.
  22. "Sir? What's that?" "A lurker!" Unvote Vote: Alasdair
