Your weather?
It's a misspelled Nissan Qashqai. In America, it's called the Nissan Rogue. Damn, misspelled again! I think I'm just going to start calling it "White Horse with Broad Shoulders" (That's how it translates I think). Sorry Lys, a Qashqai is not a Rogue. It's a completely different make. The Qashqai has just entered the North American market. They've been on the road in Europe and Japan for a while.

Going to the Chappel of Love
Hey IRON, If I don't tell someone, anyone, I'm going to explode. I'm not allowed to announce this on my FaceBook. I've been asked not to do so. I am the happiest person on the planet right now. I'm over the bloody moon. I've been laughing like a fool and crying for most of the night. Nothing can compare to what has happened to me. I want to tell you a story, my story. I spent a long time wandering alone. I haven't had anyone special in my life since 2000, 19 years ago. I was convinced that I was happy. That I was a rock, that I was an island. I was deluding myself. I was hiding from my pain. I didn't want to love, because I didn't want to be hurt. I hid, I denied. I hated it. Three years ago, I had blown up to 240 lbs. I couldn't walk up a set of stairs with out getting winded. I went home on leave, and a friend's kid look at me and said "You're really fat. Are you really in the Army?" Out of the mouth's of babes. I sought help, and in the course of six months I dropped 55 lbs. I've maintained that weight ever since. I run 20k a week. I'm feeling great. Losing that weight gave me the courage to try again, to see if I could find someone who was meant for me. I found him. Or rather he found me. 10 months ago I met the man of my dreams. He has a big heart. He's so special to me. He has helped me so much. He helped me to stop drinking, he helped me to admit that I have a problem with alcohol. He has stood by me as I've quit smoking. He means the world to me. He is the most special, most wonderful man in the world. Tonight, he has made me the most happiest man in the whole world. Tonight he asked me to marry him. I love him with all my heart. I will no longer journey through life alone.

World of Warcraft
Yeah, isn't that the "littreal" truth. Hordie eh? I remember a few years ago, I found out my Mcpl played a hordie, a blood elf to be precise. We started making fun of each other's choice of side and toon. I said to him "I can't take orders from you any more. Jesus, I mean, a Blood Elf of all things." At which point our Sgt turned and said "What the f##k are you two on about?"

Did some of the other include a furry warrior and a holly priest? >_> Also WoD was just fine. It had some of the best questing, a bunch of amazing dungeons, and both HFC and Blackrock were are some of the best raids blizz has done. The problem with WoD was, including SoO, 4 raids in 3 years. As crazy as HFC was, it wasn't "I want to run this for *14 months*" fun. Well, to each his own. I can't exactly remember what annoyed me about WoD. Sure, the quests were nice, I had fun playing them. It was something about the that expansion I didn't like. I guess, I was starting to lose interest in the game about that time. I never really bothered with raids, I just didn't have the time for them. I did a few, and found it was like herding cats. Just absolutely frustrating. Problems with worgens or problems with rouges eh? I never played a warrior. I tried a few times, but didn't like them. Same goes for priests, couldn't get into the class. Druids as well. I had (have), aside from my main: -Worgen War Lock -Draenei Death Knight (tank) -Blood Elf Mage -Blood Elf Paladin Nah just poking fun at you for spelling rogue, rouge HAHA funny guy! I guess I should be wearing my reading glasses.

I remember that too....Night Elf Mohawk. "Maybe Mr.T hacked the game. Maybe Mr.T has some mad computer skills. You ever think of that Mr. Condescending Director?" I still remember the Chinese Gold Farmers, and the random whispers from random people pretending to be GMs and wanting you to a website because your account had been reported. I played pretty regular up until about three years ago. I loved WotLK and Cata. MoP was alright. It was the steaming load called WoD that did me in. I played Legion for a while, but I just lost interest. I had a bunch of toons, but my main was a Worgen Rouge. I sometimes miss it, and in my weaker moments I think about going back. Then I remember just how bored I got with it.

Congrats, Democrats
I stated several times that my position on social issues are personal. I'm not debating the science, nor do I care about the clinical findings, or that a peer review panel took a poll, and by a unanimous show of hands determined that... no, just forget all of that, because I don't care. I can only speak for myself, and I know for a fact that I choose not to be. I have known a few, and I've even been hit on before, but I sincerely don't care enough to even desire to understand it all. People have the right to be gay, but I still have the right to not be. I grew up in military schools in a very different time. I know the next generation is much kinder than mine was. I don't know how being gay is tied into this current trend of men having their dicks chopped off, but having it chopped off doesn't make you a woman... it makes you a man who had his dick chopped off. That is just lunacy to me, so maybe it's all just different degrees of mental illness... but like I said, it's not a part of my life so I really don't care. Thank you for answering my question Lys. I respect the fact that you don't want to discuss it, and I'll be honest I don't want to derail this topic. Lys, the reason I asked that question was personal. I am gay. Like you I grew up in an era as well as a very parochial society, where being gay was not tolerated and was met with extreme hostility. I struggled for a very long time before I accepted what I am. I am heartened to see that you believe I have a right to exist, unlike a number of your fellow Republicans. I won't say anything further.
-
Congrats, Democrats
Sorry to get back to this, I know the discussion seems to have moved on. I've been a bit busy, but I wanted to address it. Lys, I'd like something cleared up, are you saying being gay is a choice? I'd like you to be honest. I know you don't give a damn what anyone else thinks, that's something I can respect. I've lived my life the same way. I'll be honest, that statement has been bothering me. I'd like an honest response. If you wish to answer my question privately, we can. To everyone else, please let Lys respond honestly. When he does, please, as a favour to me, wait until I respond.

I shot the sheriff, several deputies...
With apologies to Mr. Clapton. Not only did I shoot the sheriff, and all of his deputies, and about half the town of Strawberry. Hey, they drew first. No, I haven't finally snapped. I'm talking about Red Dead Redemption II. If you loved the first one, you'll love the second installment of Grand Theft Horse. I picked this up last week, on release day. I've been monkeying around with it ever since. Lovely game. The graphics are amazing, and there's one heck of a lot to do. I've managed to get to Chapter 3, as soon as I manage to shoot that damned white cougar with out ruining its pelt, I'll move on. The story is really engaging, and the dialogue is hilarious. They've made a number of changes. You can rob trains, people, stores, and banks. You can steal horses and wagons to sell and make money. I'll be honest, that's just fun. Riding up next to a horse or wagon and jumping on. They even added in fist fights. Some yellow bellied turd, done has the gumption to brush up against you...hell show that lily liver at thing or two. Some of the changes are annoying, You have to sleep and eat on a regular basis. You have to care for you horse, which means feeding and grooming. You also have to bathe the horse or it's health will decline. Hell, if you don't bathe yourself, you'll have trouble hunting. The stench will give you away. The controls were a little clunky at first, then I figured it out. All in all good game. If you liked the first one, you'll love the second.

Nut job mails bombs to Democrats
RandomHero, I just want to to have a little chat. We had a little disagreement a while back. That's okay. You called me a prick and asked where my wheaties were. I gave up, because frankly, I had better things to do. Like spend time with my boyfriend. That aside. Before I continue, I should advise everyone I'm high as a kite right now. I put my back out the other day at work, and I'm on some pretty heavy duty pain killers. So if I stop making sense and start rambling, you know the reason. Damn butterflies, get the hell off my screen! First off, stop with the literal, literally every other statement. It doesn't make you sound smart, it makes you sound like a dumbass. Secondly, just stop arguing with these Trump suckers. They aren't going to see reason, no matter how rational your argument is. You are arguing with belief. Nothing you say will change their opinion. You could reasonably draw a conclusion that I am sitting behind a computer typing this. I could say no, I believe that I'm standing on my head, spitting nickels and shooing butterflies off my screen. That's what I believe, then that is what I believe. Nothing you could say will convince me either wise. Personally, I gave up arguing with Lys over the Orange Baboon's decision that transgender persons shouldn't be able to serve in the military. Thirdly, stop painting your targets with so broad a brush. Stop with the name calling. You aren't contributing anything by referring to Republicans as "The Loser Party", or calling them "neo-nazis". Not all Republicans are that way. You're just contributing to the problem. If you follow American politics in the creditable and established media, then you know that there is outright civil war in the Republican Party. There has been some discussion of the moderate Republics, disgusted with what their party has become, splitting away and forming their own. All that being said, I wanted to get back to the very valid question you asked, "Why does the GOP support someone like Steve King?, and in your words "literal neo-nazis " The answer to that is easy, very easy. You must remember what Joey Smallwood said about the two jobs that politicians have; "to get elected, and stay elected." You must also remember what Rex Murphey (I know you know who that is), said around the time that Trump was elected as President. "How can democracy in America survive, when you require that amount of money to gain public office?" Lets be frank here, we elected 308 Members of Parliament for less money than Hillary Clinton spent on her failed bid for the Presidency. It all comes down to money to protect their (Member's of Congress), very privileged and powerful positions. The Republican members of Congress who are moderates are very well aware that if they don't tow the party line, they will face a very well funded opponent in their primaries. Don't get me wrong, the Democrats are no better. They are all just looking out for their own best interests. Which is to get in office and to stay in office.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 - Battle Royale (Blackout)
wait there is no campaign? Brewer, that surprises you? Let's be honest, in just about every shooter game that has come out recently the campaign (such as it is), has been nothing more than an extended tutorial for online play. Personally, I'm looking forward to Red Dead Redemption II.

Sing: Oh Canada! “ Canada becomes second nation in the world to legalize marijuana”
I had a chuckle when I saw this: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/girl-guide-cookies-cannabis-lineup-1.4868520 No...not pot users with the munchies. In the words of one Dr. Dennis Leary "What was wrong with pot? You smoke a joint, eat a twinkie and go to bed." That's one smart little girl.

Sing: Oh Canada! “ Canada becomes second nation in the world to legalize marijuana”
I was wondering when this was going to pop up. Sister Midnight, I wanted to get back to your original post. CNN is not a bad source, but you might want to check out CBC for more in depth information. It's all they've been talking about for the last week. I'm currently listening to CBC Newsworld, and they are covering it now. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada I'm not going to disagree with you, I personally believe that this is a step in the right direction. The production, sale and consumption is now regulated and controlled. However, you seem to be operating under a number of misconceptions. Hugh drop in organized crime...maybe. In order to purchase pot legally you must be 19 except in Quebec and Alberta where the age is 18. The National Assembly in Quebec is considering raising the age to 21. Minors, unless they can get it from someone who is of age, will still be reliant on black market sources. Which brings me to my next point, providing cannabis to a minor is an Indictable Offence (Felony for you) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act , which upon a successful conviction carries a sentence of up to 14 years in prison. As well, we are only legally allowed to possess up to 30 grams for personal use. Anything over that is still illegal, unless you are an authorized distributor. Increase in tax revenue: No. The taxation on the sale of cannabis is designed to be revenue neutral, the Federal Tax is a $1.00 a gram, with 75% of that being kicked back to the provinces, to cover the costs of various education programs, and policing. If they had taxed the hell out of, like they do with alcohol and tobacco, the people who use recreational marijuana would have continued to go to their usual sources, read the black market. For example tobacco is heavily taxes (the average is $118.13 per 200 (June 2018)). https://www.statista.com/statistics/449041/price-of-200-cigarettes-by-region-canada/ There is a very robust black market for cigarettes. To "tax the hell" out of it would have defeated the purpose of legalization. Smaller Government!? No, absolutely not. All of the provinces have either set up new agencies or are using their current Liquor Corporations to regulate the industry. I'm a resident of Quebec, and the provincial government set up a new agency: https://infocannabis.saq.com/en/ Yes, it's in English. In some provinces private dispensaries are still illegal, if you want to buy your pot, you'll have to go to an Agency Store. If you want a license to sell or grow the stuff, you'll have to apply to a provincial government controlled agency. As well, regulations regarding cannabis is a provincial responsibility, the Federal Government just changed the appropriate sections of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. This has resulted in a hodgepodge of laws and regulations across the country. Not only that, there is a hodgepodge of differing employment policies across the civil service and private industry. For example, the Calgary City Police are continuing their Zero Tolerance policy, they RCMP is allowing it. I'm a member of the CF, and we only got our policy a few weeks ago: DAOD 9004-1 http://forces.gc.ca/en/about-policies-standards-defence-admin-orders-directives-9000/9004-1.page The CBC interviewed a lawyer last week, and she said that lawyers, especially Employment Lawyers will be busy for years. I'm not disagreeing with you. I don't really care that cannabis is legal, in fact I'm to the point that I wish the news would stop talking about it. I just wanted to correct, what appears to be, a few misconceptions. Now, I've only repeated what I've heard and read on CBC. Which is a better source for information regarding the legalization of cannabis, than CNN could ever be.

Politiscales
There's a lot or problems with this thing and I highly doubt the results are indicative of anything. For what it's worth, here's mine: Work. Fatherland. Order http://www.politiscales.net/en_US/results/?e1=36&e0=19&j0=24&j1=40&m0=48&b0=17&b1=48&c1=38&c0=21&t1=71&t0=7&p0=19&p1=55&femi=29&s0=43&s1=33&prag=67 You to eh? There were a lot of questions that barely made any sense. I have a degree in Political Science and was left scratching my head trying to figure out what the questions were asking. One that I can remember was "A monarchy needs to be established to federate the people..." WHAT? Most of them were meaningless babble, I clicked neutral for a lot of them. I doubt there is any validity to the results, given the survey was designed by groups identified as "8vaules" and (translated from French), "Radicals on the Internet." As well, when designing surveys, needlessly wordy and complex questions should be avoided. As when your respondent is confused about what you are asking, you won't get an accurate result. I'd mark this one down to pure entertainment.

F is for Family
Okay, I've recently discovered the NetFlix "Welcome to the 21st century, Caveman" says you. I say, "Eat my hairy white ass." 've watched a few shows and movies on it. Such as "Look Who's Back". Funny as heck. It features a time traveling Hitler, who comes forward to 2014. He's treated as a comedian as opposed to a serious politician. I laughed my ass off at it. The movie is in German with English subtitles. "Disenchanted" One season. Done by the people who brought us "Futurama" and "The Simpsons". Again really fumy. However the show I fell in love with (it has nothing to do with the fact I watched it with my boyfriend), was "F is for Family" It follows the misadventures of a family from the early 1970's. The first episode is all about Frank dropping $700.00 on a colour TV to show up his neighbor. It just goes on from there. Worth your while checking out!

So now you're dead. What next?
Sorry, if this seems a little macabre. As of late I've been giving some thought as to my own funeral. Let me get this out. Very out loud and clear, "NO I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT DOING ANY RASH. I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT TAKING MY OWN LIFE." Jesus. I had to say that, because you know this day and age. Fuck a few years ago I said something on Facebook, and the MPs along with the Saint Jean Police showed up at the door, and I nearly spent Christmas locked up in the Psych Ward at the HHR (local hospital). Shit, it was only a fast talking friend who kept me from being arrested and taken into protective custody. Do you blame me for being cautious? I've been giving some thought lately to my own funeral. What I want to have happen. Let me be honest, I'm an atheist. I've gone so far as to renounce my baptism. I still remember when I contacted the United Church of Canada and told them to stick that magical shit straight up their asshole. They even went so far as to send a minster to my house to counsel me about my "pain and anger at the Lord", and my "irrational beliefs". Really? You want to talk about my irrational beliefs? You believe in an invisible, magical, cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own Father and lives in the sky. And if you tell this zombie through telepathic communication, that you accept him as your master, and beg for his forgiveness, he will remove from your person an evil presence, that is present in all of humanity, because some rib woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magic tree. And you want to talk about irrational belief? I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. I have no problem with Christians. Who am I to deny you your beliefs? If your faith brings you comfort in your times of distress, and your belief in an almighty judge makes you be a good person, I respect that. I do. Back to the point in hand. I've been thinking about my own funeral. I've been thinking about it a lot. Here's how I see it. I've decided to give my body to medical science. Specifically, I'm going to be a cadaver. I'd like to think that some future surgeon will have the opportunity to practice on my corpse. Here's a Doctor who can save multiple lives, by learning his/her skills on me. That will be my legacy. My wake. No clergy chanting magical incantations over my body (Really? No shit you hell bound baby eating atheist). No tears. I want my friends and family not mourning my death, but celebrating my life. The fact that I was here. I want a slide show of all the events in my life, all the people I met, all the things I've done displayed as Frank Sinatra's "My Way" plays over the speakers. My estate will provide all the booze and (legal), narcotics. I want those who attend to have a fucking party...literally. That's how I want to go. How about you?

Ready Player One
I saw it about a month ago. I saw it with a couple of younger people and they loved it. I lost interest about half way through. Most movies are now geared towards young people. A few years ago I watched a CBC documentary called "How the Kids Took Over." If you ever get a chance to see it, I'd recommend you do so. It is really interesting. The tween and teen market is a highly describable market, according to documentary that in 2005, in North America tweens and teens had out spent the next three age groups combined. The dollar figure was in the billions. What they spend their money on was entertainment. I don't blame business for going where the money is. I take it you haven't been to the mall lately? LOL. What do you mean future where everyone is addicted to VR? Were living it now. According to some studies I've read, over 20% of teens and twenty-somethings are addicted to their smart phones.

Ready Player One
Worst thing I've ever seen, and I suffered through that steaming pile called "Titanic". I thought the the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies were bad (I've only watched the first 15 minutes of that abomination), but this thing was worst. Up until I saw this, I thought Sucker Punch, (a 13 year old boy's masturbatory fantasy gone wrong), was awful. But Ready Player One takes the cake. Awful, just plain awful. No story, no plot, no charter development, no thanks.

30 year old son refuses to move out, parents sue.
I love those comebacks, "read the article". I did, twice. Plus the one that was on BBC, which is how I found the original. Yes, at the end of the article it does say that: "In April, the couple went to Camillus town court to try to evict their son. But they were told that it required a Supreme Court justice to remove a family member." Did you miss the point where I said: I still maintain, it was not necessary. I worked with a father who tossed his 25 year old son out the house under similar circumstances. No court or court officials involved. I know of other people who were threatened with it, an uncle being one of them. The rest of it, I will not dignify with a response.

30 year old son refuses to move out, parents sue.
Rand0m Her0, no he does not qualify as a tenant as he lacks the two things that would: 1: Rental Agreement/Lease 2: paying rent As such, he would be legally considered a house guest (or legally an Invitee). Since his parents have demanded he leave, he would now legally be considered a trespasser or squatter. Hence no obligation to go to court, as they are well within their legal rights as property owners to push an unwanted guest out the front door. In retrospect, I imagine they want to get the Office of the High Sheriff (or whatever its called in New York State), to be involved in the eviction process to ensure it goes smoothly. Either way, this situation is ludicrous as a 30 year old should have their act together so that they can pay rent and help out with household expenses. As to your second point: No shit Sherlock. Thanks for pointing it out, I was completely oblivious to it. Any other observations you'd care to make? Like night is dark? Ice cream is cold? If you jump in a pond, you'll get wet? My household expenses at the time, if I recall correctly were as follows: 1: Rent: $275.00 2: Telephone: $40.00 3: Groceries: average of $110.00 Leaving me with a grand total of $75.00 for extraneous expenses. Plug that into an inflation calculator and see what you get. https://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/related/inflation-calculator/ Also, that $500.00, yeah that was less than minimum wage, which was $4.75 an hour at the time. MsShawdi: My cousin is pretty much the same way. Wanted to be a guitar technician, get hired by a major musician right out of school, and was going to be a millionaire before he was 25. Surprise, surprise, that didn't work out. Quit that, got a job in a warehouse and lasted less than a day. Now he sits at home, playing video games, stuffing his face and refuses to work.

30 year old son refuses to move out, parents sue.
https://www.syracuse.com/expo/erry-2018/05/ec96feccdd8142/camillus_parents_go_to_ny_supr.html I found this pretty amusing. Long story short, two parents in New York state have gone to court to have their 30 year old son evicted from their home. The letters they sent him are pretty funny. To be honest, I don't know why the parents are even bothering with the courts. At 18, your parents are no longer legally or financially responsible for their child(ren). Jesus, when I turned 18 my parents gave me a choice. If I went to university/trades college, they would support me. If not, I had to get a job and pay rent. I went to university. If I were a parent (thanks be to Christ I'm not), my child would be given the same choice. If that child chose not to get a job or further their education, I'd have no problems with tossing that kid's dead beat ass out the front door. I don't know how "grown" children can do it, living with their parents into their thirties. I've got cousins who are doing the same thing. I mean, when I was 18 I couldn't wait to get out on my own. I had fuck all money ($500.00 a month), for all of my expenses. I lived in a creepy, smelly basement bedsitter...but it was mine. I had the freedom to do what I wanted.

Teens unable to read analog clocks, schools switch to digital
Yeah, that's old news. Before I joined the military, I was a High School Teacher. I'll never forget the day one of my Grade 8 students asked me what time it was, so I held out my watch. He looked up at me and said "Sir, I can't read that." "It's Quarter to Ten." I replied. "What time is that?" "9:45." "Why didn't you say that Sir?" "I did." Brewer, I know exactly what your mom is going through. You can't use a red pen, because it's too confrontational. You can't fail them, because it might damage their sense of self worth. You can't make them repeat a grade, because it is psychologically damaging to hold them back while their peer group advances. You have to give them multiple chances to hand in assignments. Letter Grades shouldn't be used because it might hurt their "feels", use a holistic system instead. Even then you have to be "politically correct", it's not lazy, they are "out put challenged." Every excuse is made for their behaviour is made, and as a teacher your expected to accept it. "It's your fault that little Johnny Scumbag told you to Fuck Off, he has Confrontational Personality Disorder. There's more Disorders, Syndromes, and Spectrums it's a full time job keeping track of it and the Individual Student Service Plans, and what Pathway they are on. The absolute worst is the "concerned parent". The ones who are wondering why their "Special Little Genius", isn't performing in school. It has nothing to do with the fact the kid eats nothing but fat, salt and sugar. It has nothing to do with the fact that the kid is up all night playing games or tapping a fucking screen. Oh no. "It's your fault, your not teaching my child right. He's a super genius." Or even better, when the parent consults with good old Dr. Google, and self diagnoses their kid with some kind of learning disability, usually autism. Happiest day of my life was when I gave teaching the middle finger and walked away. Oh boy did I have fun that day. Can you ever go back to teaching (not that I would)? Not the way I quit. Sorry, got off on a rant there. The point is, we are not preparing students for reality. They've been sheltered, protected and coddled their entire lives. When they run into the real world, they can't handle it. Look at the nonsense that's happening on university campuses. "Safe Spaces", "Trigger Warnings", "Free Speech Zones". They want the University administration to protect them, to make them feel safe. Never mind the fact that some of them are offended by everything. If someone says anything they don't like, and offends them. They shout and scream and "protest" (I call it a temper tantrum). They'll do everything to shut that person down, and they'll demand that person be destroyed. Like Professor Peterson. They want everything policed, including Halloween Costumes. You all remember the melt down that Yale Student had, "Who the fuck are you? Who the fuck do you think you are? This is not about creating an intellectual space, it's about creating a home!" Or the Harvard student who wrote a piece in the Harvard Crimson, who thought that because they were Harvard students, their work should automatically get no less than a B+. Being ranked and graded hurt her pwecious widdle feels. If you remember the student unrest there a few years back, you know their "Days of Rage", here: http://www.thedemands.org/ There are things listed that is beyond the ability of their Universities to control. I know, I know....a simple article about students not being able to read an analog clock was causing them stress. Its a symptom of a larger problem. That problem being we are not preparing our young people for the realities of life. We are too concerned about how they feel about themselves. We too concerned with their self-esteem, we are protecting them too much. They're being sold a bullshit message of "if you can dream it, you can do it." That's not reality. That's not life, you either sink or swim. There are parents out there who are teaching their kids what lies ahead. "Life is tough, and you best be prepared to fight for what you want, and to grab hold with both hands and not let go." They are teaching their kids to be resilient, that you are going to fall, and you need to pick yourself up and carry on. That's a message more and more kids are not getting. I pity them. It's not their fault for the way they are, it's ours. More specifically, their parents and their school's administration.
