The Real Life Faces of IRON
Alright, time to give a face to the name. Took me a while to find a site that I could figure out. Here's my buddy. This is my favourite picture of him. Its one of those once in a lifetime pictures. He was chasing his tail when I snapped it. I t was taken in 2005, when he was just a puppy. http://imgur.com/KefEMOB Just a quiet night in with some ladies. I treated them with the respect they were due, all 12 of them http://imgur.com/LoE1hG8 At work in the Ration Room http://imgur.com/TKLG3kV Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to display the pictures like the rest of you have done. I'm a caveman when it comes to computers. Magic glowing box angers HackSlash. Me smash, me smash good. Christ, ask me about the time I had to figure out how to get the Net Flicks up on my buddy's TV.

Excuse me, I'm having a moment
LOL Lysistrata. I can relate. Still remember when I was downtown on George St, when some young punk yelled out "Hey man, this is bullshit. Queen is ripping off Vanilla Ice!"

Excuse me, I'm having a moment
Oh man, oh man. I'm feeling my years tonight. I was talking with one of my coworkers this morning about X Box One games. More specifically, the ones we liked and really enjoyed. I recommended this one to her. https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/toy-soldiers-war-chest/ It's freaking amazing. I've liked all of the Toy Soldiers games, but this one is cool. Especially if you get the Heroic Edition. I think it's going for $14.00 CDN on Amazon. Anyway, she didn't really understand the concept of a tower defense game, and I had trouble explaining it as I don't speak a lot of conversational French. So, I went to the google and showed her so pictures of the game. Here's how it went: Me: This game is awesome, it's easy to play. Her: Okay. <<Looks at website>>, but that's the old Assassins Creed. Me: Yeah, I know. But you get to play as GI Joe, COBRA, and He-Man!" Her: I never saw those series. But my parents used to watch them. Me: <<Silence and funny look>> Damn, I can't believe it. Have I really gotten this old.

I'm a Conservative, so you can imagine what I think of him. I'm looking forward to the 2019 election when we get to give that arrogant, entitled fool a nice wake up call.

PM Selfie is endorsed by Teen Vouge
Holy Jesus H Murphy! http://www.cbc.ca/news/opinion/trudeau-foreign-fanfare-1.4209255 It's official. A "journalist" (the chutzpah on this guy), for Teen Vogue (a well known publication for its insightful views on current events), has nominated Justin Trudeau to assume to the throne as "Self Proclaimed Leader of the Free World." Based on his colourful socks, magazine covers and meetings with world leaders past and present. I'm left speechless.

Well, fuck you Bethesda
I still bear the scars. Some things never truly heal. I don't know how many hours I wasted playing those games. I do know that they (Command and Conquer), are all available on Origin and will run (for the most part), on a Windows 10 machine.

Well, fuck you Bethesda
What do you mean you need a sneaky character to be in Brotherhood of Darkness and Thieves Guild? My characters aren't sneaky in the least, more like bricks through plate glass windows. I managed to complete both quest lines successfully. Just started playing Morrowwind. Not bad, I used up my my total data for the month downloading it. I haven't really shagged around with it yet. Is it any good? I liked Skyrim, so I figured I'd like this one too.

Transformers: Last Night
Went to see it last night with some friends. Now I realize it's a Michael Bay movie, so I'm not expecting an intricate or even well developed plot. Nor am I expecting great dialogue. What I am expecting is explosions (and plenty of them), and giant robots punching each other in the face. A Popcorn Movie in other words. This thing was disappointing, I ran out of patience with it about an hour in. It was way too long for a Bay movie. It started at 7:40 and was over at 10:30, I found it really dragged at times. They could have cut about an hour out, and not affected the story in the least. There were a number of scenes that I found too cheesy. For example, when Hopkins is telling the story of Merlin his Robot butler starts playing dramatic music on a organ. Which is basically the joke. I can't remember a lot about the film, because I stopped paying attention to it. It wasn't as good as the first two.

American Student Who Was Imprisoned By North Korea Dies After Being Returned To The U.S.
Read this the other day on BBC: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40308028 In the article, they interviewed one of the other students who was on the tour with him. Interesting reading.

Republican Congressman shot
As someone who is deeply concerned about what is happening down south and has been following the disturbing trends in US politics for years, and has a political science background, I'd like to chip in my two cents. Some of you have blamed "Extremist Liberals". No. It is Political Extremism period. Extremism in any form, whether to be right, left, conservative, or liberal is destructive. The public discourse in the US has become so divisive and so toxic in the last decade or so, that the future of your country is jeopardy. To lift a line from BBC, "In recent years, due to the over reliance on social media to stay informed and bloviating cable news, the US has divided into two alien camps. That neither understand each other, nor have any desire to do so." If you are unfamiliar with "The Index of Failed States", have a look. You'll notice that the US has been moving up on that list. One of the main reasons for it, is growing political dysfunction. The viability of a liberal democratic nation, and yes the USA is a liberal democratic nation (Stop booing and hissing, I'll get to it in a minute!), relies on political moderates. People who can talk to one another, debate the issues using factually correct information, an come to a compromise. This ability is sadly lacking in the US. Unfortunately, it not just happening in the US. To some degree its happening in just about all of the Western Nations. Now, about that whole Liberal Democratic Nation statement I just made. Calm down and read! I like the way some of you use the word Liberal like its an insult. It isn't. In a very brief summation, Liberalism is best described as the belief that you should be able to lead your life with minimal government interference. That government is formed by the people and governs with the consent of the people. That it should always govern in their best interests. That when a government fails in this responsibility, you as a citizen has the inherent right to duly reconstitute that government. Sounding familiar? It should. No, I'm not summarizing the Declaration of Independence or the US constitution. I'm summarizing the first chapter of "The Second Treaties on Government" by John Locke. John Locke is considered the founding father of Liberalism. The founders of the US were huge fans of Locke and his writing. These principles that Locke wrote about drove your revolution. Don't believe me? Pick up a copy of "Second Treatise" and read it. You'll notice the language is exactly the same. Better yet. I'm more than willing to assume that some of you are huge supports of the 2nd Amendment. That as law abiding and responsible citizens you should be able to own a gun, or as many guns as you choose. That my friend, is a very liberal belief. Your Founding Fathers were liberals. They used that ideology to found a nation steeped in the belief that "government for the people, by the people and of the people" was a natural wonderful thing. That it is the people that rule, not some priest claiming to speak for a god, not some absolutist monarch. That idea was revolutionary. The Liberal Democracy that was founded in the USA has had a profound impact on the way we governed ourselves. The French Revolution in 1786 and the Liberal Democratic revolution that swept Europe in the 1800's can all trace their origins back to the US Revolution, a revolution that gave birth to the first country based on the principals of Liberalism as described by Locke. I don't understand how you can use the word Liberal as an insult.

Rogue One
Yes, Lysistrara I think we would. The only Tarantino film I really didn't like was "Inglorious Bastards". It was alright, but not great. I believe Jackie Brown is one of my all time favourites.
-
Rogue One
Yes Lysistrara, you could be right. I can squeeze a nickle until the beaver poops. Last movie I saw in theaters was "Deadpool". Awesome film, not as good as "Reservoir Dogs", "Pulp Fiction", or "Empire Records" (Hey they were my 90's dude!). Still get a laugh out of the guy who brought his kid to see the movie, and walked out five minutes into it.

Rogue One
It was a good movie. Some of the CGI characters threw me off, like Grand Moff Tarkin. He really didn't look like Peter Crushing...or maybe its just my eyesight. I enjoyed it, bit disappointed with the lack of a crawl. On a personal note, I never understand this mania people have with watching a movie in the theater. I've always found home viewing better. Now maybe that's because: a: I'm a cheapskate. b: some misanthropic tendencies. I genuinely hate being in large crowds of people. Nothing worst than trying to watch a movie with some idiot behind you munching popcorn or nachos. Or some GD kid kicking the back of your seat. c: or maybe its my PTSD. I can't relax and enjoy the movie.

Canada - vacation
Sorry, sort of forgot about this. Sounds like a good plan. Lots to do in Montreal. I live about 45 minutes outside of the city. Here's the official website: https://www.quebecoriginal.com/en-ca I would STRONGLY suggest learning a little French before you arrive. Montreal is a fairly bilingual, other areas not so much. If you try to speak French first, the Quebecois appreciate it and will generally switch to English or get someone who speaks it. Sometimes, they can be down right rude if you speak to them in English first. Gas is expensive as hell. Try not to fill up on the weekends, every Friday the gas prices increase by $0.05 to $0.10 a liter. Yesterday it was $1.08 a liter. If you were coming in August the International Balloon Festival is here in Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu. https://www.ballooncanada.com/ That's pretty sweet. I watch it from my back deck.

Cool. I've been all over Eastern Canada. I'm from Newfoundland and live in Quebec. What specific province(s) are you looking at?
-
Canada - vacation
I spoke with my Aunt and a couple of buddies in Esquimalt. Pretty much the same thing iSocialism said. If you go to the website I gave you. There are 90 different businesses offering whale watching tours. You can trust that site, its the provincial government's Tourism Department.

Canada - vacation
Sorry man, I don't know where a good place would be. I live in Quebec, so my local knowledge of BC is limited. I can ask my Aunt, she live there. You can check Tourism BC https://www.hellobc.com/default.aspx?CC=CA The best would be to talk with a travel agent.

Canada - vacation
If that is what you want. Of course all the western provinces have their charm. If you want natural beauty, BC is my personal choice. I've been to BC several times, and it is without a doubt a wonderful place. To be honest, I'm thinking about BC for my next posting. (That is if I can convince my GD Career Mangler). Lots to see and do, with a certain charm. Book in advance, BC is a popular tourist destination. Why wouldn't you want to see whales in a small boat? I've done it. Nothing to fear. It is an experience that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. To be next to a creature that is so powerful it could end your very existence, but is so gentle that it chooses not to. Its magical.

All depends on what you like: Alberta: https://www.travelalberta.com/ca/ BC: https://www.hellobc.com/default.aspx?CC=CA Manitoba: https://www.travelmanitoba.com/ Saskatchewan: http://www.tourismsaskatchewan.com/ One thing I've always recommend is if you go outside the cities, into the smaller towns. Ask around, you might find out about local festivals or attractions that are no advertised. Don't forget we are also celebrating our 150th. http://canada.pch.gc.ca/eng/1468854891549

Canada - vacation
Well, it all depends on where you want to go. Each region has their own attractions. Without knowing specifics, I can only give you some general tips. There are plenty of parks that you can stay in with full service camp grounds. http://www.pc.gc.ca/en/index If you prefer to rough it, you can. You can ask local tourist bureaus for more specific information. The general rule of thumb is stay off private property and you'll be fine. Will it be cold? I'll put it to you this way, I live in Quebec and I turned the heat off last month. All depends on where you are going. Banff..yes. Some out of the way place, probably not Renting a car? Book in advance, and you must be 25 years of age or older. In most provinces your foreign license is good for about 30 days. Stay the hell out of New Brunswick. Seriously, don't even think about it. I spent some time there, its awful. You'll be stepping back in time and the place is hideously expensive. If your planning on coming to Quebec. Try to speak a little French, the Quebecois appreciate it if you try. They'll laugh and switch to English, a lot of them speak it or at least understand it. Driving in Quebec is an adventure. BC is beautiful, but really expensive. Newfoundland, the same.

The Last Jedi
Looks awesome. Can't wait to see. Still, I'm curious how Disney is going to mess this one up. I was disappointed by "Rogue One". I got all excited when I saw " A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." Then no crawl. I mean seriously, who does that? Ruined the whole movie for me. The crawl is Star Wars. I was around when the original trilogy came out in theaters for the first time. I have them here on VHS. A buddy of mine had the Kenner toys. Still, it looks pretty good.

TWD Season 7 Finale (SPOILERS)
Love that show. It's the only reason I'm paying $2.00 extra to get AMC on my Videotron package. Yeah, I still have cable. Can't quite figure out that goddamn steaming shit. NetFlix is still a mystery, and I only have a 60 GB limit on my internet. There's still one episode from the first season which still gives me nightmares. The one where they are at the CDC and the Doctor gives them a choice. To die or continue to survive. I like the fact that the Walkers have become a non-symmetrical threat to a manageable risk. In this type of situation, survivors would become your greatest threat. Tigers (which was awesome), aside. I can't wait to see what the next season will bring.

Tabernac mauvais calisse.
Real good advice. I'm regretting the amount of booze I did drink. It ended badly. I needed to vent. Thanks for the concern buddy.

Tabernac mauvais calisse.
Yeah, that should tell you how pissed off I am. I'm swearing in French. Yes, I'm a citizen of Quebec. A second class citizen mind you, because I'm an Anglophone. That's apparent isn't it? Listen, if your under 18 (21 in some districts), you might want to walk away. I'm going to swear a lot. I'm Army, and I work in profanity like a fucking artist. I'll teach you words that will turn your Mom's hair even greyer. I'm drunk as a trailer park supervisor. I've pounded back a half case of beer and the better part of a 26 oz bottle of scotch. This question goes out to the women of IRON. Yeah, I know rule 35. Can you please explain to me how in the name of do you think. For fuck's sake I'm sitting her all fucked up, trying to figure out what the hell went wrong. Sacrement Osti. I'm a modern man. I have no problems expressing my feelings. Holy fucking shit snacks, I can cry with you. Jesus, I've sat through those Goddamn awful fucking movies you like. I suffered through the entire "Hunger Games" series. Those things suck ass. They are so bad I wanted to slit my wrists. "She's the girl on fire", "Lets get the girl on fire." Holy doggy style Mary, I goddamn don't want to watch some girl sit in a bloody tree. I want to see people get shot in the face. I want action. GAHHHHH! Yeah, in case you can't tell a relationship went south. So far south, the population still calls it "The War of Northern Aggression." Seriously, I have a good job. I make nearly 5 grand a month (before taxes)....fucking thieves. I listen to your needs, I respond to those needs. Hell, I've even stepped up for a kid that is not my own. I comforted you. I've been there for you. Then some asshat with better fucking car comes along. Then suddenly "you're not growing as a person" You reptile woman. Sorry, I'm really angry right now, and the truly heroic amount of booze I've consumed is not helping (like four Moosehead). I'm channeling that much Dark Force energy right now, I'd make Emperor Palpatine look like a pussy. "I can feel the anger dwelling within you. Strike me down with your hate, only then will you journey towards the Dark Side be complete." Beeotch, I am the Dark Side. Now get the hell off my throne, before I electrocute your ass! Seriously, can one of you ladies (or someone who understands them), please explain what the hell I did wrong. Jesus fuck, she didn't like me talking with other women. I have to, its part of my job. I have other female soldiers under my command. I have to work with other women. What the hell?

Star Wars Rebels
Is there anyone here watching this show? Liking it so far. They are just getting around to explaining how the Alliance got started. Kind of cool. Especially Sabine. She's bloody awesome.
