The Dead Zone Mafia, Mafia Wins

The guests sit down to dinner. They had each won an essay writing contest sponsored by Horror writer Stephen King. They had to explain which character from the television show The Dead Zone was there favorite and why. There had been tens of thousands of entries and only one entry was picked for each character.

Here you are now one of the chosen few, sitting down to dinner with Stephen King himself at the welcoming party he is throwing at his Maine estate for the winners before the start of the grand prize, a Dead Zone themed weekend that will be attended by the actors who played your favorite characters.

Dinner is over and you all go off to bed, after all tomorrow is going to be a big day. There was a major storm during the night and you hardly slept at all between the thunder and anticipation. You head on down to the dining room for breakfast.

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good night’s sleep. I regret to inform you that the bridge is out; it seems it was swept away in
the storm. Sadly this means that the cast will not be able to get here. The lights suddenly go out and there is a loud roar of thunder and a bolt of lightning illuminates the room. The lights quickly come back on but you decide it’s better to be safe and hand out flashlights to all the guests only something is wrong. As you give the last of the guests a flashlight you realize there isn’t one left for you. “This is strange, there were only supposed to be the x of you and I had enough flashlights for myself and each of you. It appears someone has crashed the party.” Before Mr. King can elaborate the lights go out again, only this time they stay out for several minutes. When the lights come back on you see Mr. King covered in blood, dead from multiple stab wounds. There is a note written in almost illegible writing.

“Welcome to The Dead Zone. By now you have probably begun to notice that things are not quite right. No matter for worry, I simply drugged last night’s meal. I’m sorry I had to kill Mr. King but he said I was not important enough for the contest, so nobody wrote letters for me. It’s time to play a little game, were going to see just how well you know your favorite characters. You have to figure out who I am before I kill all of you. The lights are set to go out again in 1 hours’ time, at which point I will kill again. We will keep playing this little game until you are all dead, good luck.”

Panic starts to spread until Reverend Purdy stands up and calls for calm. Wait Reverend Purdy, but he’s a fictional character. He seems to be making sense so you decide to go with it. The group all agrees with his plan, you will work together to find the killer before time runs out. People start making wild accusations about each other before Greg Stillson calls for quite; at this point fictional characters are the least of your concern. He suggests that we vote on whom to kill, surprisingly Johnny agrees with him.

iSocialism is being unfairly voted, ever since he got the third vote from the bandwagoner.

I think iSocialism is good, so I suggest we lynch the 3rd person to vote iSocialism who started the bandwagon.

Yup, that is most humorous thing I could think about to say after he voted himself.

I was ready to look back and see who the third vote was!

My activity will be a little less than my usual for the next 5 days because I'll be in Greensboro at a chess tournament.

"Less than my usual" is probably average for most the players...

votes:

iSocialism: 4 (Alternate_Tree, Commander Shepard, iSocialism, Kilgor)

Electric Mango: 0 (Killgor)

Commander Shepard: 1 (iSocialism, Ogaden)

No Lynch: 2 (KevinH, KevinH, D3mon)

Imran: 1 (Iron Helix)

KevinH: 2 (Kaziocore, Zacch)

also how did people like the opening flavor? i put a lot of thought into it. also don't expect such long flavor again.

The opening was ba ba ba ba ba ba ba bad to the bone. Can't wait to see the even more improved scenes that are sure to follow. Also Kevin is doing math and going to chess tournaments so I'm pretty sure he is scum. Why would a normal want to do those things like learning to read good. Yes I see the what I did there; that's the point.

Anywho, voting records > civilian casualties.

Vote: KevinH because America

Unvote: No-Lynch

That was a vote to avoid the accusation that there's "something different" about my style.

Now for some real analysis.

We have 16 players. I'm going to guess 4 scum.

First a scum lynch candidate needs to be proposed (4/16ths probability).

Scum will not get on a bandwagon against one of their own.

So we need 9 of 12 townies to agree on the 1 scum lynch candidate to be successful.

This is very unlikely.

Alternatively, a townie lynch candidate gets proposed (12/16ths probability).

A few scum will join the bandwagon and we might be successful in getting up to the 9 votes required to lynch.

But then we have a dead townie and not much knowledge about which of the lynchers were well-intentioned townies and which were scum.

So considering the situation, the best course of action for a townie is ...

Vote: No-Lynch

For 10102012044th time, No-Lynching on D1 is a bad idea

Lynching against the odds is an even worse idea.

yes i am. and the reason is that he had 3 votes on him already, why not another one? besides, there's a long way to go until the 9 votes required for a lynch quota is met.

Vote Kilgor

Why not make it a race to see who gets 9 first?

it's certainly better than sitting around idle and waiting for stuff to happen :)

Kaziocore is afraid of both my chess-playing and mafia-playing skillz.

Superior intellect will prevail!

^ a feeble attempt at trash-talking

Khan... I'm laughing at the superior intellect.
