The Dead Zone Mafia, Mafia Wins

The guests sit down to dinner. They had each won an essay writing contest sponsored by Horror writer Stephen King. They had to explain which character from the television show The Dead Zone was there favorite and why. There had been tens of thousands of entries and only one entry was picked for each character.

Here you are now one of the chosen few, sitting down to dinner with Stephen King himself at the welcoming party he is throwing at his Maine estate for the winners before the start of the grand prize, a Dead Zone themed weekend that will be attended by the actors who played your favorite characters.

Dinner is over and you all go off to bed, after all tomorrow is going to be a big day. There was a major storm during the night and you hardly slept at all between the thunder and anticipation. You head on down to the dining room for breakfast.

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good night’s sleep. I regret to inform you that the bridge is out; it seems it was swept away in
the storm. Sadly this means that the cast will not be able to get here. The lights suddenly go out and there is a loud roar of thunder and a bolt of lightning illuminates the room. The lights quickly come back on but you decide it’s better to be safe and hand out flashlights to all the guests only something is wrong. As you give the last of the guests a flashlight you realize there isn’t one left for you. “This is strange, there were only supposed to be the x of you and I had enough flashlights for myself and each of you. It appears someone has crashed the party.” Before Mr. King can elaborate the lights go out again, only this time they stay out for several minutes. When the lights come back on you see Mr. King covered in blood, dead from multiple stab wounds. There is a note written in almost illegible writing.

“Welcome to The Dead Zone. By now you have probably begun to notice that things are not quite right. No matter for worry, I simply drugged last night’s meal. I’m sorry I had to kill Mr. King but he said I was not important enough for the contest, so nobody wrote letters for me. It’s time to play a little game, were going to see just how well you know your favorite characters. You have to figure out who I am before I kill all of you. The lights are set to go out again in 1 hours’ time, at which point I will kill again. We will keep playing this little game until you are all dead, good luck.”

Panic starts to spread until Reverend Purdy stands up and calls for calm. Wait Reverend Purdy, but he’s a fictional character. He seems to be making sense so you decide to go with it. The group all agrees with his plan, you will work together to find the killer before time runs out. People start making wild accusations about each other before Greg Stillson calls for quite; at this point fictional characters are the least of your concern. He suggests that we vote on whom to kill, surprisingly Johnny agrees with him.

Did anyone see anything last night?

I staked out iSocialism's room last night and I saw Kaz and killgore came and went, I was too busy watching iSocialism's room and I don't know what happened to killgore.

hhmm....this sounds like a terrible revelation. We already have one of our docs nk'ed, now it seems like you outted the other? Are you sure Kaz was trying to protect iSocialism?

Not entirely sure on the mechanics, but I think if a person is going to iSoc's room, they're either protecting, investigating, or attempting to kill iSoc.  Seems like investigating iSoc would be kind of pointless, so I wouldn't attach a very high probability to that possibility.  Kaz, of course, could enlighten us as to what he was doing, since it's already in the open that he has some sort of night action.

I was going to wait until Kaz or Dahl  posted, I think Dahl would have said but seen as someone already brought it up and Dahl does not have iSoc down as leaving his room yet and iSoc says he tried use his power, he can not confirm if it was successful or not.

Kaz probably prevented him from using it.

Also Shepard if I did not leave my room, how could I kill someone. You guys are failing to make that connection.

I never said you killed someone or tried to kill someone.

I'm just saying if you used your power and Dahl posts later in response that you did not leave your room then that leaves two possibilities.

I will wait for Dahl to respond anyway, just to clarify if you left your room or not.

Sorry, was not accusing you it was more of a point. Just happen to have included you.

oh hello. My apologies all.

It appears the shock from the first night caused me to faint for quite sometime. :v

I shall attempt to catch up on what I missed and help out from now on.

I don't understand the reasoning about keeping the jailer target secret.

The scum knows if iSocialism is truly townie, but the rest of us can have some doubts.

If someone comes forth before iSocialism gives the target and says they were blocked, then iSocialism can say that he did it and nothing is proven.

On the other hand, whoever was blocked has a higher probability of being townie since the night kill went through without being blocked. There's some logic that the scum will want to kill off known townies and thus the jailer target has a higher probability of being killed, but if nobody knows the jailer target then we're no better or worse off than when we started.

Sooo if iSoc and Dahl is saying the truth then Kaz is probably a role blocker

I'm just more focus on the possibility of them being scum and saying that they were jailed and then being seen as a townie. I know that if they denied that they were not jailed that would guarantee them being killed within a few days.

I don't want the person I jailed to come forward and be a scum and say that they were jailed and fly under the radar.

Nah don't worry most of us are ruthless rational, though there isn't much benefits from knowing whom did you target, for now. It might be useful later on though, especially in case the scums targeted you tonight.

I don't understand the reasoning about keeping the jailer target secret.

I'd think the scum would want to know who iSoc is targeting at night more than town needs absolute confirmation that iSoc is a town jailer.  I say that because scum want to know in order to make decisions on who to target/not target or possibly manipulate at night.

I'd take the risk that iSoc is town. I think Ogaden (Dahl) is the reporter, Dana Bright, so he'd be town as well.  Kaz is probably Bruce and did a bodyguard perform on iSoc.  If so, then he's town, too.  You three, as likely town (to me, at any rate) should be unanimous when choosing someone to lynch.  I, of course, am town :D , so will go along with whatever you three do.  Kevinh is suspicious to me (I think d3mon is too), so I'll go with a vote for him.

Yes,

however If it's a group of scum, then having one of them blocked would most likely stops him from talking to the other scum, assuming there is more then one. There is still a chance that he might be scum. I cleared him or prove he's scum. The only thing it will do is clear me, which I don't care about, because I believe, no strong evidence just going from past games that there is more then one scum and they are working as a group. The other kill could have been a x-number-shot cop.

If I'm lying I dare the person who is actually my role to come out and have the person they jailed confirmed it. If they do that then lynch me, and when I'm lynch use your powers to stop those two and lynch them the next two days when you find out that I was not lying.

If you guys must know then get your band wagon up to 6 votes and I will tell. But as Shepard pointed out, Kaz could have block my action as well, and therefore that person might have not even been jailed.

I'm inclined to believe iSocialism is truly the jailer, but it could be a clever ruse by the scum.

Every time I see this kind of post, it makes me suspect the poster.

Vote: KevinH for now for the lack of a better suspect

iSocialism will not be obviously night killed because there is

a strong chance that he will be protected or watched.

This is for im317 to show that Kaz voted for Kevinh.  It looks like you missed this vote.

i didn't miss it, i didn't count it because he did not use ##. i noted in the opening of day 2 that there was a rule change. i honestly just forgot to mention it day 1. the point is you need to use ## when you vote. its because if a ctrl+f ## i find the votes fast. i will count it this time thought since i noticed i counted another vote that did not have ##. its mostly for games with a lot of posts

It's pretty much assumed that there are multiple players in the mafia group.

We don't know that there is a jailer at all. (There could even be 2 jailers)

This is so suspicious to me. If iSocialism is a jailer:

1. Unless he was role blocked, he has someone out there who he jailed, hence knows he's the jailer.

2. Can do the same thing tonight (maybe on one of the people who are suspicious of him - see if they then agree that he's the jailer the next day)

3. All you have to do if you're suspicious of iSocialism is wait a few days.  He'll either die and be confirmed that way, or will have jailed enough people to confirm him.

This seems kind of obvious to me.

Or he will be scum and you will have left an obvious scum lynch open drawing nothing but suspicion to yourself for defending him. Gathering information is the town's number 1 objective. The fact that you are literally saying we don't need that information just because it tells the scum that he is the jailer (which they already know if he is or not based on whether he is one of them or not). So you are literally saying that the town doesn't need free information.....

Keeping my vote where it is. also....

I'm not asking us to lynch iSoc yet, I want to know who he claims to have targeted and then have them confirm or deny. Obviously if they deny his claim it is still not 100% on which one is telling the truth, but it gets us a step closer because one of them is scum, so even if we mis-lynch we will guaranteed lynch a scum the next day. Please understand the strategy that I'm spelling out for you and understand that it is the best option for the town at this point in time.

Way to misrepresent what I wrote.  I said the scum want to know who he protected, not to confirm he's a jailer, but because that let's them know how to target people/use their power roles better.  Show me where I "literally" said "because it tells the scum he is the jailer".

Or he will be scum and you will have left an obvious scum lynch open drawing nothing but suspicion to yourself for defending him.

I'm willing to defend him.  If he dies and is scum, I'll take the risk of suspicion coming my way.

Again, iSoc had a good point that you can't force iSoc's jailed target to either confirm or deny.  More to the point, we don't know what kind of manipulation roles are out there.  There's also the possibility that iSoc's target doesn't want to be called out.  And let's say you were right and iSoc is scum... him calling someone out would just mean he'd call out another scum player and we'd be unsure if they're both town or scum.  If any one of these things turn out to be the case, going through all this trouble to get 100% certainty today that he's the jailer is going to make all this pointless.  I'm fairly certain and am willing to take the risk that Ogaden (Dahl), Kaz and iSoc are town.  The roles and the night events fit together to me to the extent that I believe this to be so.

I'm asking that other townies help lynch who I see to be most scummy at this time, Kevinh (and d3mon).

And IF my night action was blocked and no one was jailed? I understanding where you are coming from and your strategy. I have look over it and thought about it myself. However with no one coming forward saying that they are Anna Turner and with a confirm jailed person. I think there's no need for me to tell anyone who I tried to jail.

The way I see with other people's input is that I run the risk of having my night action block and if that is so no one would have been jailed, leaving me to be lynch if people agree on it. After that you will see that I'm Anna Turner as I claimed to be and then you would turn your attention to the person that I tried to jail and was unsuccessful at. This wasting two day and allowing my innocents to be killed during the day and night.

I'm still waiting for confirmation of these events that could be explained with their roles.

I would have prefer if they posted earlier regarding it instead of having a bunch of semi speculation posts.

I'm asking that other townies help lynch who I see to be most scummy at this time, Kevinh (and d3mon).

That is a first, I don't think I seen a person so early asking others to help them lynch someone based on almost nothing other than a scum detector.

I could be mistaken though, If I was going to help you lynch one of them it would be d3mon because he posts less than Kevinh.

2 Jailers sounds again like overkill.

Kaz, Ogaden and iSoc, I believe you three are town & I hope you'll back me up.  Kaz and Ogaden, if I pegged your roles right, I hope that will lend me some credibility.

I'm willing to put my life and my honor on the line to get this done.  I'll see you in the arena, Kevinh.

Iron Helix:

Why should we trust your word on D3mon/KevinH being scum (and the other three you emntioned being town)? It's nothing but a theory. I'm sure a lot of other theories fit the same pattern we saw.

also, let's give shadow a chance to get his activity up again: ##Unlynch

Just a theory, eh? Kind of like evolution and gravity are just theories. :P I assume you mean hypothesis, which to a certain extent it is.

Killgor thought iSocialism was worthy enough for night protection as evidenced by Ogaden.  Ogaden, who has the role of Dana Bright, the reporter, also saw Bruce, the sidekick played by Kaz come and go as well.  We know Kaz wasn't the SK or making a mafia kill because we got two kills on night 1, and I seriously doubt any vig, if there is one, spent their ability on night 1 on killgor or EM.  I say he's Bruce because 1. Bruce is a major character in the show, 2. is likely to be in the setup, and 3.  it's likely he was doing a protection action on iSoc, which is consistent with my thoughts of Bruce being a sidekick (and if that's the case, that's another person making night actions on the belief that iSoc is town).  The only hitch to this is if iSoc is actually scum and is faking jailing people.  I don't think that's the case for reasons already explained.

As for trusting my word... I'm sticking my neck out on this.  Lynch me or lynch Kevinh.  Lynch me today and you'll lynch a townie that is open enough to do a callout like this.  If Kevinh is town, then obviously I'm next on the chopping block for a lynch, so unless you expect town to lose at night on day 2, I'd think there shouldn't be a problem with this.
