The Dead Zone Mafia, Mafia Wins

The guests sit down to dinner. They had each won an essay writing contest sponsored by Horror writer Stephen King. They had to explain which character from the television show The Dead Zone was there favorite and why. There had been tens of thousands of entries and only one entry was picked for each character.

Here you are now one of the chosen few, sitting down to dinner with Stephen King himself at the welcoming party he is throwing at his Maine estate for the winners before the start of the grand prize, a Dead Zone themed weekend that will be attended by the actors who played your favorite characters.

Dinner is over and you all go off to bed, after all tomorrow is going to be a big day. There was a major storm during the night and you hardly slept at all between the thunder and anticipation. You head on down to the dining room for breakfast.

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good night’s sleep. I regret to inform you that the bridge is out; it seems it was swept away in
the storm. Sadly this means that the cast will not be able to get here. The lights suddenly go out and there is a loud roar of thunder and a bolt of lightning illuminates the room. The lights quickly come back on but you decide it’s better to be safe and hand out flashlights to all the guests only something is wrong. As you give the last of the guests a flashlight you realize there isn’t one left for you. “This is strange, there were only supposed to be the x of you and I had enough flashlights for myself and each of you. It appears someone has crashed the party.” Before Mr. King can elaborate the lights go out again, only this time they stay out for several minutes. When the lights come back on you see Mr. King covered in blood, dead from multiple stab wounds. There is a note written in almost illegible writing.

“Welcome to The Dead Zone. By now you have probably begun to notice that things are not quite right. No matter for worry, I simply drugged last night’s meal. I’m sorry I had to kill Mr. King but he said I was not important enough for the contest, so nobody wrote letters for me. It’s time to play a little game, were going to see just how well you know your favorite characters. You have to figure out who I am before I kill all of you. The lights are set to go out again in 1 hours’ time, at which point I will kill again. We will keep playing this little game until you are all dead, good luck.”

Panic starts to spread until Reverend Purdy stands up and calls for calm. Wait Reverend Purdy, but he’s a fictional character. He seems to be making sense so you decide to go with it. The group all agrees with his plan, you will work together to find the killer before time runs out. People start making wild accusations about each other before Greg Stillson calls for quite; at this point fictional characters are the least of your concern. He suggests that we vote on whom to kill, surprisingly Johnny agrees with him.

I was going with the random vote to start things off, I don't know why people are trying to bandwagon, but I guess we just have 2 days left in the actual day.  Since we don't know what kind of power roles are out there and such I really don't know if I should take my vote off iSoc at this point.  Hopefully we can get some discussion going over labor day weekend

FOS: d3mon

Why is everyone voting for ISoc? I didn't see anything that might point to him being scum?

Duh.  More important question is: why would you be protecting him?  He should be just as suspicious(likely to be scum) to you as anyone else at this point.

For now though: Vote: iSocialism

iSocialism anticipated this possibility and due to his being away we agreed upon a prerecorded message i would post for him when he got to a specific vote count, since he probably wont be able to post himself during this time period.

My role is Sheriff Anna Turner – Jailor – Town

Imho, a townie should always be concerned by bandwagons. We were quickly heading towards lynching a guy just because we need to lynch someone.. and I am not comfortable letting that happen.

If there was going to be a lynch, there was going to be a bandwagon.  You can't have 9 votes for someone (to get a lynch) and have it not be a bandwagon or at least called it by someone.  Now that it's likely that iSocialsm is town, is it possible that some of the people who voted for him are scum? Sure.  Is it possible that scum knows iSocialism is town and see the "bandwagon" happening but remain on the sidelines? Sure.  How about both? Also possible.

Obviously the people voting for iSocialism didn't have any real good reason to suspect he was scum.  So when you are asking for a reason as to why he is scum, when you should know there isn't one, is suspicious because it puts you in the position of looking like someone who would profit by advocating for an innocent man (if it was found out he was innocent).  If iSocialism was scum and you were as well, then you may have been motivated to defend your ally (that seems like it's not the case at this point).  If iSocialism turned out to be scum upon a lynch, but you were innocent, then you trying to protect him (seemingly specifically) would put you in an awkward position of being the innocent who spoke up for scum (an amateurish mistake).

I would think that most people would view everyone with suspicion at least to some degree (except the scum who know who's town and who's not).

So I think either you're playing is amateurish or you're trying to camouflage yourself.  That's my rationale at least.

ok. isoc gets the benefit of the doubt.

unvote

Lynching is always better than not, therefore....

Vote Isocialism

iSoc has a bigger probabilty of being a townie now, so nah, I'd rather have a no lynch than lynching him

Reverend Purdy was on his knees praying when someone snuck up behind him and slit his
throat. Dr. Gibson has just finished treating a patient. She returned to her
room only to find someone already there. Before she could react she was shot
dead.

Electric Mango - Reverend Eugene ‘Gene’ Purdy: – Reverend – Town (miller) - You are a
respected leader in the community, as such you have enough sway to stop 1 lynch,
except against yourself.  As a man of God you cannot cast the final lynch vote. You are a strong motivational speaker,
once during the game you may select a player during the night phase. That player will be given a second night action the following night.

Killgor - Dr. Janet Gibson – Doctor – Town – Each night you may select a player, that player will be protected from death that night. You may not select the same player consecutive nights.

1: Electric Mango - Reverend Eugene ‘Gene’ Purdy – killed night 1

4: Killgor Dr. Janet Gibson – killed night 1

It is now day 2. With 14 alive it takes 8 to lynch. Day 2 ends Saturday September 14th at 10 PM EST. Also a minor rule change. Please vote in the following format ##lynch name. any votes not using the ## will not be counted. oh and i cant figure out how to edit the topic title so if someone can tell me or edit it to say day 2 that would be great

I'm inclined to believe iSocialism is truly the jailer, but it could be a clever ruse by the scum.

We should ask, "Why were Electric Mango and Killgor selected as targets?"

They both had a vote on iSocialism and then either withdrew it (Killgor) or spoke in favor of iSocialism without actually withdrawing the vote (EM). If iSocialism were scum, I don't think he'd have incentive to kill either of them.

Another question for discussion: "Why is iSocialism still alive?"

The scum would want to eliminate known townies, so I would think iSocialism would be a prime target. Maybe they thought it was early enough in the game to let him live and wanted to use their night kill to catch a cop or other stronger role.

Still another question: "Where did the second night-kill come from?"

Is there a vigilante, serial killer, or something else at large in the game? Stephen King would be proud ...

Since there was a miller role in the game, that means that there is most likely a cop role too (probably Walt Bannerman?).  I know there's the seer (John Smith), but the miller position wouldn't affect the seer I don't think.

Also, I'm not saying we should do this, but if everyone has a name accompanied with their role, why couldn't everyone just role/name claim?  Wouldn't the scum be unable to hide?  They'd have to pretend to be someone else (one of the 'good' characters from the show), right?  That would kind of ruin the game though.

Also there's probably a serial killer as well as the normal 'mafia' scum.

I'm inclined to believe iSocialism is truly the jailer, but it could be a clever ruse by the scum.

Every time I see this kind of post, it makes me suspect the poster.

Vote: KevinH for now for the lack of a better suspect

iSocialism will not be obviously night killed because there is

a strong chance that he will be protected or watched.
