[TW-01] Cybernations Mafia - Town Win!

http://www.conradaskland.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/cybernations.png

Cybernations Mafia

Only the following roles may exist in this game:

Vanilla Townie, Bodyguard, Commuter, Sane Cop, Role Cop, Vanilla Cop, Flavor Cop, Doctor, Friendly Neighbor, Follower, Gunsmith, Innocent Child, Jack of All Trades, Jailkeeper, Mafia Goon, Mafia Encryptor, Mafia Godfather, Mafia Ninja, Mafia Strongman, Mafia Traitor, Mason, Miller, Motion Detector, Neapolitan, Neighbor, Neighborizer, Nurse, Roleblocker, Rolestopper, Serial Killer, Tracker, Universal Backup, Vigilante, Voyeur, Watcher

The following modifiers may also exist in this game:

Ascetic, Backup (with or without primary role present), Bulletproof, Enabler (with or without primary role present), Even/Odd Night, Macho, Neighbor, Non-Consecutive Night, Weak, X-Shot

Assigned character names are various alliances from Cybernations. Ignore all current Cybernations foreign relations. The current treaty web has no bearing on the assigned characters. Alliances were randomly assigned as "good" or "bad" roles so one's personal opinion of an alliance will not necessarily translate to this game.

Sample Role PM said:

I remember trying to setup trade circles when you couldn't change resources

my very first nation had furs as a resource. Nobody wanted to trade with me.

The days of looking for random new nations on my color, asking them to trade.  Those were NOT the days

Oddly, that was never a problem for me. I wrote up a form letter, which I personalized as needed and almost always got what I wanted and recruited a new member to IRON.

All these votes. :P But are we lynching someone today or not?

If we do, who will be the target? The most inactive one?

I don't like either of these post. Why are we so pushy for a vote?

Mafia is a game of voting bruh

okay, something a tiny bit interesting i've seen.

take it as you will

From Imran's previous game.

Samus seems like a good target. Possible problem with him though is as he is popular with the noobs he may draw some of their actions which is not a problem if its a watcher but he may get protected by a doc.

Bandwagon on me so early into the game? Why?

Imran #1 on suspect list as of now. Won't vote for him yet though.

I'll quote myself again because strangely some of you covered it with noise (I'm looking at you: Lyner aka "Always a scum", Rafay, KevinH and Finster  <_< )

To get things into serious direction: we could do no rolling on the first day (because it seems random) and do organized sweep (person no1 checks person no2, while it checks person no3, while it checks person no4, etc...) to see if we can find something about the scums that want to overthrow our hegemony.

Yeah, but you shouldn't be pushing just to vote. You want to target scum, not get a vote in by the end of the day.

They are getting hasty for a vote. They will jump around. The main thing is Imran likes to get on the bandwagon early/start it, so he can use his defense of "I was the first/second person, I'm not bandwagoning excuse."

I'm a noob with boobs (see what I did? Seventh grade humor) and think Samus is a hottie, so there you go.

How are you supposed to figure anything at all out on day one? It seems like you just have to take a wildass guess and hope for the best. I'm not prepared to finger anyone just yet unless someone can give me good reason to. I suppose inactivity is a reason, but is it a good one? On the other hand won't a mobster WANT to lynch someone right away? So does that make the enthusiastic lynch movers suspicious?

That was supposed to say lynch mobbers, but I can't go back and edit.

To get things into serious direction: we could do no rolling on the first day (because it seems random) and do organized sweep (person no1 checks person no2, while it checks person no3, while it checks person no4, etc...) to see if we can find something about the scums that want to overthrow our hegemony.

I think I understand what you want to do, but there are a few problems with this tactic:

1) not everyone has a role (probably)

2) everyone who has a role has to come forward and confirm that they will check person X

3) scum will know who'll be checked out and can just use someone else to make the kill (of course cops will still get a positive result, but there probably are only 1-3 cops in the game and if they come forward they're dead the next night)

Of course it's not the "gg, scums may give up now" tactic. But it's an action that may help us, and thus it's much better than no action at all.

Ad 1. They wouldn't take action anyway so what I propose does not hurt.

Ad 2. Yes they'll have to confirm...but we are town and we are working together to weed out scums aren't we?

Ad 3. Chances 2 scums are placed together on the list (the one in the first post) is low, so potentially (potentially for us, they obviously know if there's anyone safe) every scum is endangered. Also someone with weak modifier will let us detect scum with 100% probability (if he visits one).

I'm not claiming it's the best move we can make (I'm inexperienced) and if there are better propositions I'm all ears...but we need to do something and do it as team and not chaotically.

We'll also need 2 to check on everyone, as how will you know 1 speaks the truth? He/she could be a scum as well (and they know who town is), so they can easily make some claims...

There's no tactic (that I know of) to do something like this. You just have to analyse posts, get a discussion going, accuse people, see how they react and use the intel you get in the night (if any). :P

Agreed. That looks like a plan, but if you follow through, it has too many holes. In the end, it'll be kind of a massive role-claim with scum having a heads up.

You guys are still holding my last game against me...because I outfoxed you all..lol. No I am not scum..in fact I have hardly ever been scum. Most of the games I played in has been as an innocent townie and you can go back and check that I never vote no lynch. Its boring and stoopid. We need to get lynching fast so we have bandwagons to analyze in later days. No lynching strategy is over reliant on the cop with all other townies sitting around sucking their thumb and hope that someone finds something useful at night. I like a more pro-active approach. Where is the Mango when you need him. He would have backed me up.

You're getting it, even if you don't know it yet :P. If this move wont archive anything else it'll still be enough because there will be more talk about who did what, scums will lie or keep silent (which is suspicious too)...and when they lie there's a chance they make mistake.

Also if we do it in orderly fashion, scums will not have as much freedom to lie as they'd have otherwise (constraining them in their lies is another step to force them to make mistake).

Can't they role claim no matter what we do? They can do it anyway and always risk that someone will challenge their statement.

I'm actually proposing something EM has proposed in other game:P

The little I've played, I've never been a fan of a no lynch on day 1.

We need to start weeding through. Look and see who potential scum are. We also need to try and avoid the massive role claim on Day 2. That's what killed us townies off in the Force Awakens game.

I'm still a noob tho. Only played a couple of games, so the strategizing isn't my strong point yet.

I see what you're saying Ali, and it's not entirely a bad idea. That said, no lynch on day 1? Not a fan.
