Pokemon Go

Anyone in IRON been playing this? If you wondering what this is, Pokemon Go is a new augmented reality game that utilizes your phone's camera and GPS location. Its a free game that runs on Apple and Andriod phones. You walk around outside and Pokemon will randomly appear on your phone screen, you then throw a pokeball to catch them. There are some team like features where your team color can control real world locations. Anyone on your team can go to that place to train or hold some type of an event. Other team colors can attempt to steal that location from your team if no one is there to protect it. The game definitely encourages exercise and exploration.

Some of my friends and co workers have been playing and its downright hilarious watching them walk around. I was at a party a couple days ago and 2 of my friends insisted they had to go on a walk to look for Pokemon. Then yesterday I was hanging out with a friend and he just had to walk around a nearby park to see what he could find. He got incredibly excited when he saw a battle going on in the area (other people playing the game) but he wasn't a high enough level to join in.

I've heard stories ranging from funny to absolute stupidity. One of my coworkers told me one of his friends almost got hit by a car trying to catch a pokemon. Another one of my coworkers was walking around a bunch of heavy machinery being operated trying to chase a pokemon. Also, the same guy I mentioned earlier about walking around the park, he was out driving and decided to catch a pokemon while waiting at a red light. Thankfully none of these people were injured but I can relate to how addicting this game is.

I have a Windows phone so I unfortunately haven't been able to play, although given the game's immense popularity I would imagine a version will be ported over in the relatively near future.

If you do plan on trying it out, just remember it has bugs and it does drain battery life quicker than most games/apps.

What level are you guys? How are your Pokedexes looking?

Doing OK. Been really busy trying to get a house on the market (should be up on the market now), so my only available time to actually play is while driving. I've also been letting my kids play on my phone while driving them around to practice, etc.

I've made it about halfway through level 8, and my thing says I've seen 27, caught 25.

uhh, no, I'm nowhere near either coast of the US (pretty much in the middle). I have it up, but pretty well ignore it if I've got traffic near me. If I'm all alone on the road, two lanes either direction, no upcoming curves, yeah, I'll try to catch something.

I would have loved to see the look on his face. lol

Yeah, that would have been great to see that drivers face when he first realized who/what he hit.

I've been wondering how long its going to be until someone ends up dead because of this game. Whether someone falls off a cliff or gets run over by a car.

It never ceases to amaze me how humanity allows addiction/obsessive behavior to overcome logic and reasoning. There is nothing wrong with playing games, but you gotta use some common sense about it

Those people whould have probably died from other things regarding their phones, whether Pokemon Go was released or not, i.e. texting or calling or whatever they do on their phones. Natural selection if you will

Level 25

Team Valor

Caught 104/ Seen 107

Highest pokemon is Exeggutor @1647

Don't waste Stardust at the early levels, because as you level up, you'll find something better than what you already powered up.

Level 25 already? Damn.

Valor

Actually instinct is. You're a fool if you don't raise your pokemon right. How many pokemon have I evolved? 0. How strong will any pokemon I evolve be? OVER 9,000!!

Actually I'm a stardust whore, but that's besides the point.

Where I work, we are having an event to welcome the community in, and already have almost 500 people signed up. The town I live in has bought in BIG.

When I was a kid, I would hide a flashlight in my room and play Pokémon on Gameboy until 3 AM. Mom always wondered why I was so tired lol.
So here's a question, what was your starting 6 if you played on Gameboy as a kid?

Blastoise, Pidgeot, Arcanine, Onyx, Gengar, Scyther if I remember right, this was the setup I used throughout most of the game. I did nearly capture all of the pokemon both times but these 6 were most used. Typhlosion, Meganium, Feraligatr, Oynyx, Skarmory, Gengar - if you used the duplicate glitch to get all 3 starters. :)
