Reason: Flip-flopping and blatant inconsistency (per Kevin's quote of why vote to lynch someone you consider a townie)

"I don't want you to think I was really after your head, besides the fact that I disagreed with your strategy allbeit wrongly."

And this doesn't sit right with me... hmm...

VOTE COUNT
sojourner (4): Kaziocore, Electric Mango, Falzis, Calderone
KevinH (2): Sir Jesus, sojourner
No Lynch (1): KevinH

Not Voting (6): Aquinas, Narsis, junkahoolik, Theophilos, Nerau, Martino

With 13 alive, 7 is needed to lynch.

I make no comment regarding the quality of the posts (a "hmmm" counts the same as EM's multi-paragraph summary).

However, in the end-game I would rather be playing with more active players than less.

bit if the majority of those active players posts only contain hmm.... or something similar then it's useless. i'd rather have the quality over quantity.

What's the point of this might I ask? Is it to say who's scummier or not based on post count?

And this doesn't sit right with me... hmm...

I really wouldn't mind dropping this Falzis and I don't mean to dwell but i'm hoping to clear my name in your eyes.
I figured that there won't be many scum tells this early in the game because it is still to easy for everyone to just claim townie.

Thus, I wanted to eliminate KevinH on the basis that he wouldn't use his lynch vote appropriately. I meant to explain a few times that I wasn't doing it because of a scum tell and I didn't really want to eliminate KevinH because I thought he was to likely town. However, I thought because he wouldn't lynch he'd be a poor canidate to keep with me as townie later. However, this was a misunderstanding on my behalf. I didn't switch positions I just misunderstood and immediately corrected myself.

"I don't want you to think I was really after your head, besides the fact that I disagreed with your strategy allbeit wrongly."

I hope this doesn't sit uneasy with you. I understood his strategy wrong and was a little trigger happy. I chose to vote for him because I thought his strategy would hinder my chances of lynching scum. Whereupon I learned the correct version of his strategy I took back my vote because it was wrong. I simply corrected a mistake. I haven't flip flopped my opinions or convictions.

I, obviously :P, disagree. I've always been a fan of 'speak up when you really have something to add, be quiet if you don't'. Spam does not help the town. In fact, spam hinders the town as the content posts can get buried by spam. I also find the spam annoying when I reread a topic, as it makes me dig through a whole lot of useless posts. I, therefore, believe that the content to noise ratio, possibly in combination with the post count, is a much better indicator of who is trying to help the town and who is not. In the end, I would like to play with those who help me win this game, not those who are the most active.

Although I wouldn't take the content to noise ratio of D1 too much into account. We need something to get the game started and I can understand that spam may be used for that.

Fair explanation Aquinas. Yep you misunderstood KevinH. Moving on...

There's still a lot of uncommitted people (those not voting yet)... I wonder what's going on through their minds...

Sort of. It's a good scum strategy to lay low and avoid controversy. It's also a bit of a prod to get some players a bit more active.

I will agree with Martino that his posts had alot of content and it's not fair to compare it to all the spam.

On the other hand, I'd rather see spam than nothing (especially if it's entertaining spam -- poetry gets bonus points).

I want to weigh in on a couple things.

1st, I don't find Aquinas any more scummier for his change of votes on KevinH. I followed his logic and nothing pinged my scumdar. If anything he helped the town by putting pressure on someone. That's a good way to squeeze out some information that otherwise may have remained hidden.

2nd, don't think KevinH is any more or less scummy because he wants a Day 1 no lynch. I've played lots of games with KevinH and that's how he does it every time.

3rd, I agree to a certain point that more active people tend to get pro-town points from me over the "lurkers". Granted it's never always one way or another but I have always felt that information is the towns best weapon and those willing to weigh in and make their opinions knows help the town. I have always felt that the scum would want to blend in as much as possible. One way to do that is not let anything slip or give any information that might help the town win.

I don't like spam either but I find it helpful even if people post just a little bit. It can be anything on their mind at all. It doesn't even have to be anything new. Anything to let your opinions knows can help, like agreeing w/ someone or not.

However, there are experienced players out there who say the opposite. Some say that those with power roles (doc, cop, mafia, sk, etc) do more posting than others. They claim that the increased responsibiltiy is what drives them back to the thread more than those with just vanilla roles.

Something to think about anyway.

1. I have good feelings about Aquinas too, he certainly seems to be thinking rationally and said he would change his vote if it was proved that it was ill-placed.

2. I agree that KevinH always follows this strategy, but I do not think it should let him off the hook. By following his strategy he witholds information from the town, while we are anlayzing vote patterns and other simple things that help give the lynchings direction. In my eyes, since KevinH always follows this strategy he will always be hurting the town.

My perogative in this game is to have the town win the game, and choosing a lynch candidate is the only power I have as a townie. There is nothing that says I have to lynch the scummiest, I am going to vote to lynch to give the town the best chance of winning. Right now, I have no clue about who seems the scummiest, everybody seems to be acting rationally and townally. Therefore, I'm going to keep my vote on the weakest leak, KevinH. I've noticed in more than one past game that KevinH will vote if pressure is placed on him. Until he votes, or someone who seems scummy appears, I will keep my vote on him.

(Disclaimer: I <3 you KevinH, I used to believe in the no-lynch thing too.)
