The Dead Zone Mafia, Mafia Wins

The guests sit down to dinner. They had each won an essay writing contest sponsored by Horror writer Stephen King. They had to explain which character from the television show The Dead Zone was there favorite and why. There had been tens of thousands of entries and only one entry was picked for each character.

Here you are now one of the chosen few, sitting down to dinner with Stephen King himself at the welcoming party he is throwing at his Maine estate for the winners before the start of the grand prize, a Dead Zone themed weekend that will be attended by the actors who played your favorite characters.

Dinner is over and you all go off to bed, after all tomorrow is going to be a big day. There was a major storm during the night and you hardly slept at all between the thunder and anticipation. You head on down to the dining room for breakfast.

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good night’s sleep. I regret to inform you that the bridge is out; it seems it was swept away in
the storm. Sadly this means that the cast will not be able to get here. The lights suddenly go out and there is a loud roar of thunder and a bolt of lightning illuminates the room. The lights quickly come back on but you decide it’s better to be safe and hand out flashlights to all the guests only something is wrong. As you give the last of the guests a flashlight you realize there isn’t one left for you. “This is strange, there were only supposed to be the x of you and I had enough flashlights for myself and each of you. It appears someone has crashed the party.” Before Mr. King can elaborate the lights go out again, only this time they stay out for several minutes. When the lights come back on you see Mr. King covered in blood, dead from multiple stab wounds. There is a note written in almost illegible writing.

“Welcome to The Dead Zone. By now you have probably begun to notice that things are not quite right. No matter for worry, I simply drugged last night’s meal. I’m sorry I had to kill Mr. King but he said I was not important enough for the contest, so nobody wrote letters for me. It’s time to play a little game, were going to see just how well you know your favorite characters. You have to figure out who I am before I kill all of you. The lights are set to go out again in 1 hours’ time, at which point I will kill again. We will keep playing this little game until you are all dead, good luck.”

Panic starts to spread until Reverend Purdy stands up and calls for calm. Wait Reverend Purdy, but he’s a fictional character. He seems to be making sense so you decide to go with it. The group all agrees with his plan, you will work together to find the killer before time runs out. People start making wild accusations about each other before Greg Stillson calls for quite; at this point fictional characters are the least of your concern. He suggests that we vote on whom to kill, surprisingly Johnny agrees with him.

I used my vigilante kill on Alternate_Tree.

Why Alternate_Tree?

Kaziocore , Imran Ehsan, Iron Helix, Lyner, Alternate_Tree, iSocialism, and Chaplain of Death all voted for me but I never got the 8th vote.

Therefore either the scum were inactive or included among those who voted for me.

I gave the benefit of the doubt to Kaziocore, Iron Helix, and iSocialism because of their role claims.

Therefore the odds were pretty good that there were scum among Imran Ehsan, Lyner, Alternate_Tree, and Chaplain of Death. Of those, Alternate_Tree was the least active so I chose him for my vigilante kill.

So, if you're telling the truth. we got two people killed the first night with no involvement from you, and then the second night two people killed with the involvement of you. So, someone didn't kill the second night that had killed the first night.

## lynch KevinH

I am Bruce, I already used up my watch ability, yesterday I used my track ability and followed Chaplain of Death who visited Electric Mango, I also used my protect ability last night on iSocialism (possibly a waste)

Just to be clear you tracked Chaplain of Death and protected iSocialism on Night 2?

Yes so I will be too tired to do anything tonight.

So CoD is not the SK at least.  Would he be Johnny Smith by any chance?  What did he find out about EM?

So you killed a town player and there were only 2 kills at night.  You chose to demonstrate your ability on AT, a town player who was voting for you, rather than Zacch or Shadow. If you were a scum player (you are), that sounds like a standard move to me.

iSocialism was protected by James Dahl, so he could have been the target of a failed scum kill.

Also of interest, did iSocialism jail anyone?  Jailing includes a role-block so that might have stopped a scum kill.

I do feel like there would be a vigilante role in the game, and right now someone could come forward, and with the way the past few days have gone. that would be the end of KevinH. Yet no one have came forward. It's only been one RL day, but I think everyone has checked in.

So, again, if KevinH is telling the truth that means that someone who killed the first night did not kill the second night. With a knife killed each night so far, it seems like the SK has not been blocked. If kevinH is the vigilante who was blocked this night that wasn't blocked the first night.

Is anyone else seeing what I'm seeing and is able to expand on this.

I never targeted Electric Mango.....

I am John Smith, psychic who can touch someone to reveal their last action.

Night 1 I targeted Kaziocore and saw him watching iSoc, Night 2 I targeted Iron Helix and recieved nothing.

Therefore.....

FOS Iron Helix, and, James Dahl.

Well John smith was the main character, so if you're lying someone will come out and confront you. However, I would believe you more then them.

I can't answer for James Dahl.  We'll need him to confirm that he saw you visit EM.  I'm not sure what else could explain that except a role manipulator.  I believe you that you're Johnny Smith.

If James Dahl isn't Bruce, then

1. Bruce was omitted from the game (unlikely) or someone else is Bruce and hasn't come forward in 2 days

2. James Dahl's correct explanation of events from night 1 need to be explained

Right now, the Sk targeted EM the first night, and Kaz the second night. Kaz was targeted more likely because of his role, which mean they prefer Kaz over Dahl.

Is there any possibility that the SK already know who the scum are?

Are you asking if the SK would ignore Dahl if they knew he was scum?  I've never seen a game where SK knew who was scum from the beginning of the game, so I'd imagine the SK would have to determine that on his own.  If the SK thought Dahl was scum, I don't know what he would have based that off of.  All indications pointed to him being town.

Sorry, more of two different points. I was wondering why the SK targeted Kaz over Dahl. Also if there was a chance that they would know who the scum(s) were/was.

I figured he wouldn't it would be more about luck then anything else. It was more of a side thought. I think Dahl is the person who he claims to be.

I think there's a Redirector role in play here (probably scum) and moved the target from me to EM. That is the most plausible explanation I can come up with at any rate.

I'm not entirely convinced Kevin is a bad guy, but we'll need to do something today in order to stand a chance of winning this.

There are roles that counter the SK,,psychiatrists that cure the SK. Vigilante on top of that seems like an overkill for the SK. and there are enough PRs to counter the mafia scum (everyone seems to have some kind of power or other).

Add to that the absence of any kill from the scum if KevinH is really a Vig. I dont buy they managed to kill on N1 when kevinH didnt kill and got blocked/ target saved on N2 when kevinH used his kill ability. Too many things that dont add up and we have to actually stretch to fit a Vig = kevinH scenario in this.

Solution is clear cut. I hope this goes through today.

##lynch Kevinh

I don't understand why, why? why? I can't figure out what scum would have to gain from doing that switch or why they would even do it.

Oh wait I think I figured out a better way to explain it.

Someone didn't trust CoD and redirected his night action to see if that person would be killed.

If they were killed then they would know or have a good idea they were scum.

That night ability exists?

I support the lynch on Kevinh but will not vote him yet because I wanna see if we can discuss something else before going to the night.

There only being 2 kills each night certainly doesn't not help Kevinh's claim.

Killgor and Alternate_Tree were killed in a similar fashion with a gun before they could react.

Much like how the SK kills each of his victims in a similar way.

I'm pretty sure given that, kevinh is scum.

I can't explain why there was a switch, but if it's a town person doing the switch, they haven't come forward to help explain the situation, lending me to believe it was probably a scum move.  CoD is pretty much proven town right now.  The other thing we learned is that since CoD visited EM at night (thinking he visited me), his results for me were actually EM's results.  Meaning EM was the person who had no "last night action" (presumably meaning none for the whole game).  That clears EM of being the SK (or a mafia person with a night action that has been used).  I'm a bit disappointed that the Walt Bannerman role hasn't claimed yet.  My assumption is that he wouldn't have anything useful to contribute at this point in time and prefers to remain anonymous.

##Lynch: Iron Helix

It's time to pick up that glove and take the gladiator 1x1 challenge.

Here's what's been claimed:

  • iSocialism - Sheriff Anna Turner – Jailor (night 1 jailed Iron Helix)
  • first Electric Mango - Reverend Eugene ‘Gene’ Purdy: – Reverend – Town (miller)(killed night 1 by serial killer))
  • Killgor - Dr. Janet Gibson – Doctor – Town (night 1 protected iSocialism, killed night 1)
  • James Dahl (Ogaden) - Bruce - Watcher - (night 1 saw Kaziocore and Killgor at iSocialism's room)(night 2 tracked Chaplain of Death to Electric Mango, protected iSocialism)
  • Kaziocore - Dana Bright, Reporter - Watcher - (night 1 saw Ogaden and Killgor at iSocialism's room)(killed night 2 by serial killer)
  • KevinH - Christopher Way - Vigilante (night 1 did nothing)(night 2 killed Alternate_Tree)
  • Iron Helix (night 1 was jailed)
  • Alternate_Tree - Rebecca Caldwell – child psychiatrist – Town (night 2 killed by KevinH)
  • Chaplain of Death - John Smith, psychic who can touch someone to reveal their last action (night 1 saw Kaziocore watching iSocialism)(night 2 saw nothing from Iron Helix)

I like Iron Helix's knowledge of the show but he's totally wrong about me (and knows it).

Here's what I see:

  • He hasn't claimed his own role.
  • He's waiting to see what everyone else claims first.
  • He's probably a godfather or something since he really wants the Walt Bannerman character to claim.
  • He suggests there's Redirector role but then "can't explain it."

One possible sequence of events:

  • Iron Helix is a part of the mafia but didn't deliver the kill on either night.
  • On night 1, he was jailed by iSocialism but it didn't matter because one of his scum buddies killed Killgor.
  • He confirmed iSocialism as the jailor but that was easy because he was jailed, no need to be townie for that.
  • On night 2 one of his scum buddies either targeted Alternate_Tree at the same time as me or targeted somebody who had been some sort of protection (like being jailed).

I could hammer vote you right now, and of course am all too happy to do it.  I'm just keeping the floor open for discussion since there's still 4 or 5 RL days left until night.  I don't know if I voted for you right now if our time would be cut short.  If people want to get this over with, I can oblige.

Here's what I see:

  • He hasn't claimed his own role.
  • He's waiting to see what everyone else claims first.
  • He's probably a godfather or something since he really wants the Walt Bannerman character to claim.
  • He suggests there's Redirector role but then "can't explain it."

1. I'm not going to claim my role unless I have a good reason to.  Scum can kill me if they're so curious.

2. I'm not waiting to see what others claim.  I've predicted a lot of the role names based on posts.

3. I want the Walt Bannerman role to claim for a few reasons.  First was that he could potentially reveal alignments or support suspected ones.  Second was it confirms another town player.  Thirdly it prevents a possible wasted jailing/investigation on a role that is guaranteed town (assuming only 1 person claims).  Fourth, this role claim is at a premium, meaning a desperate scum is likely to try for a 50/50 shot of being believed if he tries to claim it.  For town to try to play that game in later days is more risky because there's far less margin of error to work with.

4. I wasn't the one who claimed night events.  I'm not even sure how that implicates me to begin with.  I'm operating on the assumption that both Dahl and CoD are town based on night claims, roles, and posts.  The redirector hypothesis seems to explain it a lot better than Dahl (Bruce) being scum.  The thing I can't exactly explain is the choice of targets.  A thought of mine would be that since it made CoD point a FoS at Dahl and myself, then maybe something like that was the goal.  Other than that, since I have no knowledge of what machinations scum are thinking of, I can only guess.

  • One possible sequence of events:

    • Iron Helix is a part of the mafia but didn't deliver the kill on either night.
    • On night 1, he was jailed by iSocialism but it didn't matter because one of his scum buddies killed Killgor.

    • On night 2 one of his scum buddies either targeted Alternate_Tree at the same time as me or targeted somebody who had been some sort of protection (like being jailed).

For the other players, they can't know I'm not mafia simply based on iSoc jailing me.  From what I can tell, that's the only point you have.
