To be clear... Trump cannot order Governors to release restrictions on their states. He can on the other hand, remove Federal guidelines, and refuse to support further Federal Covid-19 aid to the states.

 

If Obama had said something about him having "total authority" over any state... I would have lost my mind. We are a Republic, and a State Governor has an extreme level of power on what happens within their borders. Even a city Mayor has more power within their city limits. Our dear President is egging Democrats, and the media, on into a fight that doesn't mean much at all... and they're falling for it.

Please don't "think" I am biased. There is absolutely no reason to have any doubt about it. I have never made it a secret.

 

You don't see what is happening... do you? Whatever position Trump takes, the Democrats will get in a huff and forcefully go against him. So, if Trump says he has the authority to order them to pull down their restrictions, the only way to make it look like they are not doing as he commands is to pull the restrictions down before he commands them to be taken down. Make it look like they are doing it on their own. If they don't pull down the restrictions, and reopen the country very soon, well they won't be getting any sleep.

Sad to say, my country is not prepared for this. Our 1 month lockdown was extended. We started at Enhanced Community Quarantine or ECQ. After two weeks it was changed to Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine. The scheduled 1 month was extended due to the increase of Covid19 cases everyday. Surviving a two weeks lockdown is already hell to about 50% of the people here. Most people here work on a daily basis. And now they can't work. They don't have savings.  The national government announced a financial aid with a budget of 200 Billion Pesos but until now the said money that was already released is still out of the peoples hand. People are suffering from hunger. I just hear that there will be a total lockdown after the extension. Police and armies are being deployed. If the lockdown continues, there will be a war to survival. I am just hoping that it will never happen.

This is very sad. The reports I have say you have a total of 5,453 cases of Covid with 349 deaths. You guys lock your country down for that? This all reeks of complete overreaction. I hope the best for you. Please stay safe.

Even Republican governers are stating it is their actions on invoking restrictions and their word on rescinding them. Heck some states are even banding together to streamline and allign their states actions so there is no bidding war about who does what first/last. And while the various federal departments are doing excellent work under difficult circumstances, it is once again Trump and his merry band of barely competent advisors/ministers that come out swinging one strange action after another. The latest I heard was the Treasury being forced to print Trump's name on the $$ checks being seind out as stimulus, in te memo section thou cause he actually has no power to sign them personally.

It's something that needs to be thought about long and hard. The economic costs will manifest themselves in human lives, and it may easily outweigh the deaths caused directly by COVID-19.

Look, I'm all on board for hating on China. They silenced whistleblowers, lied about their numbers, bought the WHO, export faulty medical supplies for exorbitant prices, and have turned a blind eye to the huge risk (as demonstrated by the SARS epidemic) posed by the sale of wild animals, because they just have to have fucking bats and pengalins on their dinner plate/apothecary. With all best intentions, our dear President and his team rolled out a 3 phase program to reopen the USA today. All I see is a 3 phase program that lays out in detail all the ways for Democrats to keep us closed indefinitely. My prediction... very large protests.

At the moment nz has more recovered cases then active(nz counts probable cases in the active numbers) it's like hell we are proving this lock down is worth it as we have seen in the last week less cases then the week before. It just annoys me that the opposition party are going about saying after supporting the lockdown that everything is great and we shouldn't stay on lockdown we should be like australia. Yes things could of been lock down faster in nz but tbh i will take 11 deaths for 1400 cases then over the rest of the world

Their economy is tanking because of greatly diminished international commerce.

 

If this happened 50 years ago, it would be a 3rd page, one paragraph, news piece, briefly informing people of a spike in flu cases.

 

But, because it is happening now, in the information age, and we have a massive population of lying leftist socialists that will stop at nothing to attain total global government control over the people, all they have to do is create a scoreboard and say it's 1918 all over again... and fear drives everyone to cower in their homes. It's not 1918 all over again, and you're not gonna die if you go outside.

 

The government cannot pay everyone to do nothing. There is no money for it, and if they press to continue printing worthless paper to do it, then the cost of everything will skyrocket. The new normal will be mass poverty. People are not going to sit in their homes, that they cannot continue paying for, and watch everything they worked all their lives for... just dissolve.

 

We are currently making more money, doing nothing, than we were before... because of taxpayer money. Am I the only one who can see how horribly wrong this is? This is totally unsustainable. But the ends justify the means to the anti-capitalists.
