The Mafia Choose Weird Places to Invade - #1

The IRONTown Baths was quite a popular attraction for families and the rest of the inhabitants of the town to relax in the pool or to get some exercise in. Right now, however, it was fairly quiet. The pool had some die-hard swimmers and stubborn children left in, but there were plenty of staff around too.

That was the time Godfather Tony chose to invade. Shortly after the first shots were fired, sirens went off, and shutters fell, cutting off the pool from the outside world.

Now, the innocent people of IRONTown had to find out who the mafia were, and make sure they didn't live to invade somewhere else slightly strange......

STILL ALIVE: (Italics - Confirmed)

Kaziocore

CanucksDynasty

Preston

Tactical Evil Dan

DROWNED IN THE POOL:

Nerau, Whistle-Blowing Lifeguard (One-Use Roleblocker), killed Night One.

Kasabian, Mafia Goon, lynched Day Two.

Chaoshawk, Pool Cleaner (One-Use Vigilante), Killed Night Two.

Electric Mango, Insomniac, lynched Day Three.

KevinH, Friendly Neighbour, killed Night Three.

AKCPLUTO, One-Use Mafia Janitor, lynched Day Four.

ccabal86, Curious Child, killed Night Four.

Well...I'm convinced your townie.

So that leaves...

Possible mafia combos

AKCPLUTO - TED

AKCPLUTO - Preston

AKCPLUTO - ccabal86

TED - ccabal86

ccabal86 - Preston

I'm alive!

Do you believe me that I'm townie?

I sent friendly neighbor greetings to Preston the night I died the first time, which he confirmed even after I was night-killed. So he gets a few townie-points for that.

Not that I believe this, but just for consideration ... maybe there's an evil role where a scum could revive a townie.

You are a Remorseful Henchman. During the game, you may revive a townie that you killed, but just for the remainder of that day.

I'm still not sure why I was chosen to be night-killed. My role wasn't a threat to the scum. Maybe they wanted seeds of doubt on everyone playing; a confirmed townie increases the scum probability on the remaining players.

Yepp, it looks like Kazio is townie, (unless he's a remoreseful henchman, which I doubt)

Ok, I think the remaining mafia are TED and AKC. However, I suggest we vote AKC first, just to be sure.

Ouch - you're right in that we can't ignore this as a potential mafia role, especially since we (apparently?) didn't see scum movement on night 1 unless it was ccabal (unlikely); an ability like that would need to be kept in reserve to fake-prove towniness in exactly this scenario.

On the other hand, we have yet to see a town doctor type - this could be it.

I was similarly confused by their targeting you - if they were going after useful town roles yours was pretty low on the list. I could see them not targetting CD on the assumption that a doc might be protecting him... but if they assumed THAT, why didnt they target one of the remaining unidentified townies in hopes of getting the doc?

More questions than answers it seems; I'll think on this and respond in greater depth later tonight. Hope to see more peoples' thoughts when I return, as well.

Man...this game has some wacky roles for sure.

I shudder to think of a remorseful henchmen in play.

I think you were killed to cast suspicion on Kaziocore (cuz you voted for him).

I was probably not a target since I could be considered scum since I led the lynch mob on EM.

@KevinH - so who do you suspect?

Ah, so...Kaziocore revived Kevin? Thank you for proving me wrong.

I accuse TED then due to questionable argumentation; unvote Kaziocore & vote: TED.

I don't know my killer.

Just based on play, I think Preston is townie.

Vote: No-Lynch

I always vote that way when I come into a game.

So should I be voting for you then?

I don't know my killer.

Just based on play, I think Preston is townie.

Vote: No-Lynch

I always vote that way when I come into a game.

It's really unfortunate that you don't know who killed you, that could've secured us a win if you did.

Also, props for the no-lynch, I got a good laugh out of that.

Ah, so...Kaziocore revived Kevin? Thank you for proving me wrong.

So now you've gone from mostly not-there to, with all due respect, just annoying.

At any rate, I feel like we're now in a no-win position. If I vote for you and you're scum, then it'll be said that I cast a "classic" distancing vote, and I'll be the next one lynched for it. We're not in a position where one more round of friendly fire will cost us the game.

I say "classic" with quotes because that's kind of like calling rock-rock-rock in a 3-round game of RPS "classic" -- when you've only got so many moves to make everything becomes "classic." Anyway.

If I vote for you and you're a one of us -- which I now doubt more strongly, given Kaziocore's timely demonstration of his role and your current behavior -- then that's the game.

Since I can't see a a clear way out of this morass, I'm going to go with my gut here and:

Vote: AKCPLUTO

VOTE COUNT

AKCPLUTO (2): CanucksDynasty, Tactical Evil Dan

Kaziocore (1): AKCPLUTO

Not Voting (4): Kaziocore, Preston, ccabal86, KevinH

With 7 Alive, 4 is needed to lynch.

Edited by molestargazer

I'm still a little unnerved by that Remorseful Henchman role KevinH mentioned. I looked for it on mafiascum.net and couldnt find it; can you link me to where it is described?

I have updated the roles list from my previous post to include all claimed roles now

Name - Role - When/Why Claimed:

ccabal86 - Curious Child - Claimed on Day 3 to try and finish EM

Kaziocore - First-aid lifeguard - Claimed on Day 4, revived KevinH

CanucksDynasty - One-Shot Security Guard - Claimed on Day 2 to start EM/Kasabian lynch effort

Preston - Unspecified Negative Town Role (Details withheld to prevent mafia exploitation) - Claimed on Day 3 during EM discussion to declare negative roles exist

AKCPLUTO - "Plain Jane" - Claimed on Day 4 in response to roleclaim request

Tactical Evil Dan - "Plain Jane" - Claimed on Day 3 during EM discussion when asked if any vanilla townies exist to confirm/deny idea of game where everyone has a role

Past Roles for comparison:

Nerau - Whistle-Blowing Lifeguard (One-Use Roleblocker), killed Night One.

Kasabian -Mafia Goon, lynched Day Two.

Chaoshawk - Pool Cleaner (One-Use Vigilante), Killed Night Two.

Electric Mango - Insomniac, lynched Day Three.

KevinH - Friendly Neighbor, Killed Night Three

... in the process of updating this list I realized something important; we do not know the details of ccabal's updated role - which mole was very careful to not say if it was town/scum.

@ccabal, we need you to re-role claim based on whatever update mole made to your role.

Other thoughts at present

* Of those still alive, two must be scum.

* We have two claiming vanilla townie. Unless the remaining scum (or really just AKCPLUTO) are REALLY stupid, I sortof doubt they would BOTH claim it - doing so pins them together too much.

* If only one 'vanilla townie' is scum, then the last scum is someone else we are currently assuming is trusted - which will force us to re-examine EVERYTHING again.

With that said, I still feel fairly good about lynching AKCPLUTO. Barring other discussion or suspicions, I'll vote once ccabal has done his re-role claim.

-Preston

Well now it's 2 votes again for AKCPLUTO.

If ACK is not immediately lynched...it means ccabal86 and Preston cannot be both mafia. And Kaziocore and Preston cannot be both mafia.

IF ACK is lynched...then well played mafia.

The change is that my role was modified to fit the description in the role PM, and so the paraphrasing I've given still stands. I'm still suspicios that it may be a false role.

Anyway, I suggest we get AKC out of the way, then (hopefully) evaluate the results, for that last lynch...

Bleh, the nervousness when we're down to lynch or lose!

Frankly, when I saw the line in ccabal's post that said "Anyway, I suggest we get AKC out of the way, then (hopefully) evaluate the results, for that last lynch..." I balked a little. I am not 100% on ccabal, and to see him advocating AKCPLUTO gave me pause and forced me to start looking at everyone again; if ccabal is scum, then I do not believe he would advocate AKCPLUTO now unless AKCPLUTO is actually town (despite his suspicous behavior).

My analysis at this point is spinning around in circles. The only one I largely trust is town at this point is CD - everyone else I can see some sort of scenario for them to be scum, but there's no means to PROVE any of them.

My biggest concern at this point are the following possible mafia combos where AKCPLUTO is actually townie and his lynch is our loss:

ccabal86 - TED

ccabal86 - Kaziocore

Kaziocore - TED

I can't tell if Kaziocore's reviving KevinH is a point for or against him, after KevinH dropped that remorseful henchman reference - it DOES fit a little too nicely into an established definition. I still want to see where KevinH read about that - in particular to see if that same location has a town-equivalent version that revives someone ONLY for a day. The mafiascum.net site has a "Reviver" town role, but that is listed as permanent and only being used after someone dies; not quite the same thing.

If we assume Kaziocore is town (seriously hope so for our sanity!), that leaves the ccabal-TED combination to contend with.

ccabal: confirmed to be moving night 1. If mafia has ANY active ability that was used then, this is the only candidate. The "random investigator" ability seems a bit off to me - and I'd consider it VERY poor luck to have no results after 4 nights. And mole pointedly did not confirm town/scum role.

TED: First to claim vanilla townie in this odd game. Superfluous Kasabian vote and final EM vote.

The combination is VIABLE, yes. The question is if it's more viable than AKCPLUTO plus one of them (excepting ccabal).

At this point I've spent way too long rereading this thread, so I'm going to ask some questions and stop for the night.

@KevinH - can I get a link to wherever you got the remorseful henchmen reference from, and do you know of a townie equivalent role with the same limitations?

@CD (and/or others) - can I get your thoughts on ccabal-TED as a scum combination? If we can knock that one out, then we should be safe to lynch AKCPLUTO.

-Preston

Unvote.

I just made it up. Sounds pretty good though, doesn't it?

Given the number of other roles, it seems unusual to me that there would be two players without roles. I don't believe that either one is "Plain Jane."

As a scum, it's easiest to claim that you don't have a role so you don't end up conflicting with somebody's real role.

On the other hand, if a player has an awesome townie role, there is incentive to deny it so that the scum won't night-kill you.

Unvote.

Holy Double Post, Batman!

I believe Kaziocore is townie. I have learned that we can't always be 100% certain about some things that seem quite obvious (like claiming to be able to revive a dead townie and then doing it).

We could always lynch me, since I'm going to die anyway.

Vote: KevinH

That is essentially a no-lynch scenario.

Kevin can vote for himself? LOL.

For some reason, I can't help but look suspicious due to my lack of experience and competence. Hence why it's interesting to see how everyone is coming at me.

I just made it up. Sounds pretty good though, doesn't it?

Arrrgh, you had me going nuts with that one - given that your "friendly neighbor" is taken almost directly from elsewhere, if "remorseful henchman" existed elsewhere I could have seen THAT being used as-is as well.

Well, that makes me feel a LOT better about Kaziocore - I'm going to guess he's the town's equivalent of a doc this time around.

My gut feeling is to vote for Tactical Evil Dan because he was the first to claim "Plain Jane."

Hm. Between TED and AKCPLUTO, you believe TED is the more suspicious? Aside from being the first to claim vanilla townie, what else makes you think it's him?

Also, I'll repeat my request for peoples' thoughts on the ccabal-TED scum scenario.

-Preston

Preston, I think you're sometimes giving this game a bit too much thought :P After all, You can never be 100% certain in mafia, there is always a chance you are being decieved.

In this game we've seen some very unusual and unconventional roles, that could be totally the invention of mole alone. With roles such as "Curious child", "Insomniac" and "Friendly neighbor", a "Remorseful henchman" role is totally plausible. Of course it's entirely possible that some of these are false (like I believe mine to be), but the bottom line is: anything is possible.

In this case I suppose it's best to go with the most "likely" scenario: believe that CD is townie and that a Kazio really is what he claims he is.

@Preston - the chance of cc and TED being mafia is about the same as AKC and TED being mafia. I've outlined the possible mafia combos left (in previous post) with Kazio and me as townies. Honestly think cc is townie cuz of him roleclaiming. That move would have been dangerous cuz I didn't confirm he was player X and we could have easily lynched him.
