Philosophy is my single biggest passion in life... Of anything you've said, that one really irks me....
I could debate you under the water about religion in general. If you ever want a private debate about philosophy, I'm always game.

 

@Robert, don't worry, Fox Fire really doesn't know. He/She is just talking out the side of their neck -- an easy thing for most folks to do when they have no basis for their argument.

Listen, IDGAF what religion anyone is. I'm a Taoist. I find all Abrahamic religion to be disturbing in their historical texts. That doesn't mean I find the followers of these religions to be disturbing. My family is Christian. I make a valid attempt to understand all ideals and beliefs. Everything from most adored, to the most hated, like IS or Nazism. I have a respect for people in general and I reject the idea that anyone anywhere at any time is completely good, or completely evil.
The vast majority of muslims I've met or spoken to denounce groups like Islamic State and radical war mongering beliefs. And when I do run into those few who want to rant about how their religion will take over the world, I'll definitely call them out on it. Same way I'll call out any stupid argument, like the one you're making now.

 

 
Wait a minute... at what point did I say that Christianity or any other religion for that nature will take over the world? All I said was that I would prefer to worship Christianity as opposed to Islam, and you chimed in thinking I was making generalizations demonizing Islam as a whole. YOU were the one making generalizations saying that Christianity and Judaism are bloody and ridiculous. Not once did I make a statement like that.

But you've truly gone out of your way to demonize Islam and defend Christianity. Both religions are bullshit to me, but the reason I'm defending Islam right now, is because I'm sick of people demonizing a billion and a half people and then turning around to glorify their own, identical religious ideals. I bet you don't even know that Asia has 3x amount of Muslims the middle east has. You really think that 1.6 billion people are all inherently evil?
If so, what makes your religion so much better? Don't even say the lack of killing, because that's not even remotely close to being a fact.
 

 

 

As have others "gone out of their way" to convey their honest views about the religion. Fox Fire, I don't know about you, but I live in a country that expresses free speech. This would include me talking about some religions, my view on them and how it has been connected to the mass killings of modern times. You kept bringing up the Old Testament (B.C.), and I, We are talking about today.  It is no different from you demonizing Christianity and Judaism.

 

Sorry, but this is not time to insult my intelligence on understanding where Muslims geographically migrate. They are in every part of the world including Asia, in case you did not know. Why do you think the Uighurs in China continue to have problems with Beijing? Do you want to blame China for its stance and policies against the Uighur people [because they are Muslim]? This 1.6 Billion figure you keep coughing up, but you can't explain why in just about every area of the world, people of all creeds and colors have some type of issue with Muslims.  It's not my rules, it's society. All you are doing is ranting about why society treats these people like this. I don't have an answer, but I know what I do and do not like, and I am not fond of people like yourself who have a problem that I have a problem of a certain religion.

 

Again, you place words in my mouth saying that I believe Christianity is better. Find a post that says that [you can't]. But I can find many posts of you ridiculing other religions that are not your own. If anything, I would call you evil.

It's hard to find an appropriate analogous situation to that of global Islamic terrorism from which to draw data, but I ended up deciding to use "The Troubles" on the basis that it was a long-term conflict conducted primarily by non-military forces (various paramilitary groups and smaller cells conducted attacks, bombings, shootings, etc.) with ethnic and religious components over a fairly wide region (mostly Northern Ireland, but also Ireland, the remainder of the UK, and continental Europe).

During the 30 years of The Troubles, 3500 people were killed, amounting to ~120 people per year.  In the middle of The Troubles, Northern Ireland had a population of 1.5 million (1981 census).
Today, there are 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide, and so if they were to be conducting killings at the rate the people of Northern Ireland were doing during The Troubles, Islamic terrorism would have to be killing ~125,000 people per year.  Yet, since 2009, all global terrorism has resulted in 12000-18000 deaths per year (U.S. State Dept.).

Therefore, if one insists on considering all Muslims to be terrorists, they ought to simultaneously acknowledge that the mostly Catholic and Anglican populations who lived in N. Ireland from 1968-1998 have 6-10x the amount of blood on their hands.

I'm afraid people are getting numb to this. This is an outrage, and it has to end. It's getting to where everyone just expects it to happen and shrugs it off as "well it was only 12"... "at least no one lost their head"... "it was them, and not us".
 
Muslims are migrating. More into Europe than anywhere else, and they intend to take over. My position became clear on 9/11 when I saw my city of Las Vegas in a single day... vacated. Empty. As in ghost town. The largest tourist city in the world changed over night.

If IRON doesn't like me they have not let me know it yet. I myself would get bored if everyone agreed with me all the time. I don't think I would be happy if I had to live every day without a Shah, Rhizo, ccabal, Fox Fire, Samus ect. ect. ect... the diversity makes life so much more interesting. But that's just me I could be wrong...
