TMCWPTI #1 - Game Thread

CD, if they're both scum, why does it matter to you which one gets lynched first?

Granted, you could make an argument that if EM has scum powers it would stand to reason he'd point the finger at the other guy, but since we don't know either way it doesn't make a difference from the townie perspective -- right?

The order doesn't matter too much as long as they get lynched. I don't know which is just a goon and which has additional abilities (ie. Roleblocker).

@Kasabian - read all the posts. I'm the Security Guard. That's where I get my info from.

Im not talking about that,im talking about the argument you made about me not posting, you said and im quoting:

Well...I know Kasabian checked this thread but chose not to reply.

Most likely conversion with his mafia buddies to come up with a strategy.

That's why i said to you, and correct me if im wrong, that as far as i know about this game,is that the mafia only can talk during the night, so why did you said that i was talking and making an strategy "today" during the "day" with my buddies? See ,, you seem to be just throwing out accusations without even thinking it true.

@Kasabian - rule #3 says no talking outsude the game unless your role PM says so. So yeah, mafia can talk during the "day" if the role PMs says they can.

And you haven't said why you moved about during the night

Any thoughts on why Nerau was chosen to be killed?

He voted for Preston so maybe Preston wanted to nip the suspicion in the bud.

Or maybe the scum wanted it to look like Preston wanted to nip the suspicion in the bud.

I don't quite follow the logic that movement is equated to mafia. Maybe it's any action such as a doc protecting or a cop investigating. I don't know anything to the contrary so the EM/Kasabian theory is as good as any but I don't think we should put so much certainty on it.

There can only be so many pro-town power roles in the game. Nerau, myself, and the 3rd person I saw on the cameras (who shall remain nameless).

I saw both EM and Kasabian move during the night. EM gave his insomniac excuse while Kasabian provided none.

I had no idea that one could move during the night, LOL...

Hopefully the mafia doesn't have a spray-can power to neutralize CD's cameras, hehe.

Hmm...I'm leaning towards suspecting EM at this point, boys...keep debating, OK?

VOTE COUNT

Electric Mango (2): CanucksDynasty, Kasabian

Kasabian (1): Electric Mango

Not Voting (7): ccabal86, Kaziocore, Preston, AKCPLUTO, KevinH, Chaoshawk, Tactical Evil Dan

With 10 Alive, 6 is needed to lynch.

Edited by molestargazer

I don't think those that CD saw moving actually chose to "move."

We weren't given rooms or a map or anything like that.

I think it's an interesting twist on investigations to discover if someone has a night action but not their alignment. Good one, mole!

"Follow the cop" has become "follow the security guard." At this point, I'm trusting CD.

Does anybody doubt my towniness? I'll see what I can do to prove myself.

For what it's worth, not lynching was the best course of action!

@Kasabian - rule #3 says no talking outsude the game unless your role PM says so. So yeah, mafia can talk during the "day" if the role PMs says they can.

Well I think he's dodging your question by focusing on other less important matters.

Anyway I think EM's "role" is a bit strange. It's too random for that kind of role to appear

in a swimming pool theme game.

I suggest that we first lynch Kasabian. If CD is still alive (hoping a doc exists in this game)

he can check for further movements.

Vote: Kasabian

If Kasabian is lynched and shown to be mafia, I suspect ccabal86 to be the other scum member.

Kas's first random vote could be a distancing vote on ccabal86.

I still believe that we should have lynched on day 1. Regardless of what we did on day 1, CD would

have know the movements of the people. The difference is that we have one more suspect than if

we have lynched on day 1.

Maybe the mafia have planned to no lynch on day 1 (obviously with one of them appearing to oppose the

no lynch) knowing that KevinH will start this.

These are my thoughts.

Anyway I think EM's "role" is a bit strange. It's too random for that kind of role to appear

in a swimming pool theme game.

Well aside from EM's unbelievable role, he's sudden change of strategy on day 1

makes EM all the more suspicious.

@Kazio - my role description does not state I am unblockable. It would be too powerful if it was.

OK...how about this then.

I'm the Security Guard.

I used the security cameras last night.

I saw movement of 3 people (none of which was Nerau) last night.

I know that one of the people is townie.

The game is only 11 people.

It's most likely that we have 3 mafia.

And we most likely only have 3 pro-town power roles and 5 vanilla townies.

Unless this game has more pro-town powers roles...then 2 of the 3 people I saw last night must be mafia.

Nerau was a pro-town role-blocker.

One of the person who moved last night is confirmed to be not mafia (maybe 3rd party but I doubt it).

I know who that person is but won't reveal it until later.

I'm the Secruity Guard...another pro-town power role.

So that's 3 pro-town power roles.

Kasabian and EM moved last night.

Due to my analysis above...they must be mafia.

In other news...Preston was also checking the thread earlier but chose not to comment.

I have indeed been following this without comment until now - the more to give you or others the rope to hang yourselves with. I am... intrigued, at how quickly CD's roleclaim has become accepted by everyone. It could be real. It could also be a perfect scum defense - protecting one scum while placing suspicion elsewhere. I know I voted for EM yesterday, but somehow this just feels too convenient.

In particular I would like CD to explain the bolded parts of his statement:

I'm the Security Guard.

I used the security cameras last night.

I saw movement of 3 people (none of which was Nerau) last night.

I know that one of the people is townie.

The game is only 11 people.

It's most likely that we have 3 mafia.

And we most likely only have 3 pro-town power roles and 5 vanilla townies.

Particularly in light of your later statements:

I only see the movement of people. I do not know their alignment. I'm assuming that the 3rd person (maybe a doc) did something to let me know he was a townie. If he chose someone else to protect, I would have been clueless to his alignment. And it was fortunate that Nerau (the other pro-town power role) was nightkilled since it allowed me to deduce that you and Kasabian are mafia. So you see...a lot of things had to go right to get the info.

I can only see movements...not alignments.

The way things had unfolded allowed me to deduce that you and Kasa are mafia.

End of story.

What, exactly, DID you see to 'confirm' the third was a townie. If all you got was a separate night PM action saying "Hey, I'm a townie"... It could be the "friendly neighbor" type, but that's a bit of a stretch to assume they just LUCKILY targetted you on the same night you were using the cameras - or indeed that they would use their ability on the first night like that, especially if it's one-shot and they would have no idea whom they were confirming themselves to. It could also be a mafia ability to false-claim innocence once, though I find that less likely as well; again, early use of such an ability.

I am also interested in your math. You are claiming a role. Nerau concretely HAD a role. You are claiming one other townie used a role to contact you. I agree that we likely have 3 mafia to deal with, and you have identified 3 townie roles. If there are other town roles beyond the three you specify, how much would that affect your theory?

Addendum:

1) Didnt mean to double-quote CD's post. Bleh, that just looks sloppy. One time I wish I could edit.

2) I could believe a doctor protected you. As an experienced player who was active on the first day, you are a viable target for them. I could believe that they would also use it on the first night since doctor normally has unlimited uses. What I have trouble believing is that you would be informed of the NAME of who protected you, such that you could know to disregard their movement.

3) I have some difficulty believing the insomniac roleclaim... but at the same time, that could be a neutral/negative town role. I wonder how many of those Mole scattered around. The claim is clearly in response to CD's claim. Possibilities:

i) CD's claim is true, EM's claim is also true (insomniac)

ii) CD's claim is true, EM's claim is false based on CD's claim to provide an alibi.

iii) CD's claim is false, EM's claim is true (very unlikely, as it would mean CD guessed a town role... unless something in mafia roles predicted it)

iiii) CD's claim is false, EM's claim is false based on CD's claim to provide an alibi.

If we assume CD's claim is true, then EM is either scum or has a negative pro-power role.

- If we lynch EM and he is telling the truth about towniness and role, we will have lost a negative role - but THEN CD could claim "oops, he really was telling the truth, I'm still telling the truth, let's get kasabian next to prove me right!"

- If we lynch EM and he is scum, that would seem to solidify CD's role - but it doesnt preclude a scum sacrifice to keep one of their own safe till presumably the end of the game. However it would shift the numbers more in our favor for the time being.

If CD is lying, here's how I see it playing out:

Lynch 2: -1 town (if EM tells the truth): 6 town, 3 scum

Night 2: -1 town (assuming no miraculous saves by a doctor, since our roleblocker is gone): 5 town, 3 scum

Lynch 3: -1 town (If kasa is ALSO town...): 4 town, 3 scum

Night 3: -1 town (3 town, 3 scum)

Lynch 4: -1 scum (3 town, 2 scum) - At this point we would KNOW CD was lying if kasa was also town.

Night 4: -1 town (2 town, 2 scum)

Lynch 5: Do or die time.

It feels like that would be a major scum victory.

I dont know how to play it out if CD is telling the truth - Id LIKE to believe 2 quick scum lynches, but again that just seems way too convenient.

Oh, and @ KevinH: I find it ironic that the one we otherwise wanted to lynch, EM, is now a suspect. If we'd voted him yesterday, that would have made things a lot different today - and possibly better. So while whether or not no-lynch is a good policy is up for grabs, it looks like we had our sights on someone of interest yesterday.

-Preston

Bleh, one more reply (keep thinking of things after I hit 'post'... the no edit rule gets more and more annoying)

We could vote for Kasabian. EM has roleclaimed a plausible (if difficult to believe) alibi. Kasabian hasnt. CD is claiming those two are scum. If we lynch EM first and he's telling the truth about being insomniac, then we have little choice but to lynch kasabian since CD will claim "hey I didnt know" as I mentioned above. If we vote Kasabian first (who has no such built-in excuse for CD if he's town), then we can immediately identify CD after a false lynch.

Okay, really done now.

-Preston

@Preston -

1. I had no reason to come out and paint a target on my back.

2. I roleclaimed in order to put forth the information I received before I get killed. If I die...then the info would have died with me.

3. No one has counter claimed.

4. Paraphrasing and using synonyms so I don't get modkilled. "You see EM, Kasa, and player X moved last night. I am now cognizant that Player X is not mafia."

So you see...because of that info...I can reasonably assume that Player X is townie.

5. If there was more pro-town power roles than 3...don't you think that would unbalance the game???

What makes more sense? 11 players = 3 mafia, 3 pro-roles, 5 vanillas or 11 players = 3 mafia, 4 pro-roles, 4 vanillas?

Preston - you're really trying hard to paint me in a bad light. Why? Are you trying to protect your scum buddies? If you really doubt my claim...then vote for me. I am not afraid to be lynched as it will confirm to the rest of the town that what I had said is true. And for those that would have voted for me...most likely the 3rd mafia would have voted for me.

Your move.

1 - Can't edit so that if you slip up you can't change it.

2 - I don't know if it is a Player X is a doctor or not. What I do know is it was conveyed to me that Player X is not mafia. If Player X chose someone else...then all I would have known was that he moved.

3 - it's option 2. EM's alibi sole purpose is to make it harder for the town? I don't buy it...not even for a second.

Player X can vouch for me since I believe it is part of his role description that I would be informed.

However, I don't want that to happen as it will most likely out our last pro-town power role.

@Preston - here's another thing since you think I am lying.

Out of all of the players...I would have been extremely lucky to have chosen that I saw EM moving about who just so happens to be a wondering insomniac that has no special purpose other than to confuse someone watching them. What are the odds? And I chose Kasabian as well who hasn't said a lick about moving during the night. I guess I must have really gotten lucky in picking these 2 townies.

/sarcasm.

@ Preston - your lynch scenario is off if I was mafia.

Hypothetically if EM and Kasa were townies...

D2 - lynch EM = townie death = 6 townies, 3 mafia left.

N2 - nightkill townie (assuming no saves) = 5 townies, 3 mafia left.

D3 - lynch Kasa = townie death = 4 townies, 3 mafia

N3 - nightkill towie (assuming no saves) = 3 townies, 3 mafia.

At this point it is game over since the number of townies = number of mafia.

While it may seem convenient to you the fact is...

1. No one has counter claimed my role.

2. I have someone (Player X) that can back up my statement.

Also your D1 vote on EM can be seen as a distancing vote.

FoS: Preston

On D1 - mostly everyone wanted to follow the cop. We have no cop. Just me the Security Guard. You guys wanted info...I gave it.

I would prefer to lynch EM since it seems that some people have given a reason to keep him around.

Which makes me suspect that he has an additional power (ie. roleblocker?).

If Kasabian is lynched and shown to be mafia, I suspect ccabal86 to be the other scum member.

Kas's first random vote could be a distancing vote on ccabal86.

Woah wait what? Apart from the possible distancing vote, what makes me so suspicious that I have to by lynched right after Kasabian, even though our other "prime" target is EM?

Just reading up on everything, I'll have more to post on my day off tomorrow.

I'll be sure to read it with great interest.

mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Roles has many examples of very weak roles. I would see nothing wrong with a game where there is no vanilla townie. Each player with a weak role would have a little bit of extra interest in the game.

My day off is next Monday and I will probably not post at all. EM, have a great day off!
