I'm not a big destination vacation guy. I'd rather spend a week writing, working on the house, or learning to program something. That said, I am a big fan of conferences. Whether they be writing cons, dance seminars, or martial arts intensives, I'd rather spend a week learning something and meeting people than visiting some foreign country where I know no one. WorldCon, Lindyfest, and the Aikido Summer Clinic up in Oklahoma City were some of the best times I've ever had. Didn't see a single landmark at any of them, but met some of the coolest (and weirdest) people in my lifetime.

Of the four, I picked Swiss Alps because it'd have the best views and require the most from me. I also recommend Big Bend or Big Bend Ranch State Park for anyone who really wants to get away. You can literally fire a gun (albeit illegally) and not have another soul hear it. Not that I know anyone who has done such a thing. ;)

disney land bitch

If I wanted to be gouged for everything I buy, I'd play World of Warcraft.

Hiking in the Alps, its what our family always has done.

pffft Paris, been there once, it was raining the entire time.

while snoozing on the beach sounds the best out of all 4, 2 issues: to hot and salt water :(

lol amusement parcs

I don't hike, quit doing that after I left the Infantry.

I have already been to Germany, not going on another 8 hour flight....ever.

Too hot to lay around on a beach.

Even when I had kids at home, neither of them was interested in Dinsey World or Land and I'm not either.

Sorry, still none of the above.

Did you just put Paris in Germany? :o

didn't knew WWIII started, guess they for once ignored Belgium o/

Germany owns the EU. Didn't you follow the Greek crisis?

No, didn't mean to put Paris in Germany. Just not interested in another 8 hour flight. I am 6' 3" and all the seats on planes are made for some one 3' 2" so if it's a flight that is over 6 hours, I'm probably not going.

aaah that way, fair enough. and I know your pain >_>

Then you would hate the Singapore ---> LA flight I just suffered through. 19 hours of flying time with a 2 hour lay over in Tokyo, followed by a 3 hour drive to my final destination. Needless to say I'm not exactly thrilled by the idea of my return trip in December.
