[KH-16] C9++ Mafia -- Town Wins

Featured Replies

I had a very busy end of week and weekend. Apologies. Thank you Kevin for Pinging me this morning, I had kind of forgotten about this game tbh.

I do find it odd that one stretch of inactivity puts me to L-2 and a long history of inactivity is ignored with Rafay because, as always, he shows up to say the usual nonsense when a wagon gains any momentum on him. We all know that it won't last, he'll get himself off the chopping block by posting and then disappear again, same as every game.

I'm still under the impression that Kevin got rid of two VT and a SK before the game started. That there can only be one VT or the possibility of there only be one. Am I reading this wrong?

Does getting rid of two just mean that if 3 more people joined. Two of them would have been VTs.

Each town aligned role had a % chance out of 100 to be generated. My assumption would be that Kevin didn't generate 2 extra roles, and removed the SK from any of the results. I could be wrong though.

In any case, there is still a possibility of more VTs than that. Each town role had a 50% chance to be VT.

I hope you'll have more time now :). I agree with you about Rafay and my fingers are itching to vote him - it would be fun and didactic, but at the same time, if he's town and there are 3 scums it would put us in LYLO.

The fact we have other lurkers / inactives just makes it harder. People like Kazio, who hasn't posted anything that would push us further, like Lyner who voted lurkers...and disappeared himself, and then there's You (I hope you'll get more active).

The only people I feel so far are caring for town are Robert and SBG.

I'm little concerned about TW's vote and his explanation...which could be a mafia explaining on how he planned to bait town to hammer down a vote (it reminds me a time when I've been explaining why Rhizo was nightkilled in first HP game). Still, he could just as well got carried away (like town did on D1 of the last HP game...last 3 guys on NL wagon were all town) so that's not the best criteria to judge.

Finster seems to be just pushing inactives (which is easy to do for bot scum and town), though he didn't gave any bad vibes yet. And the rest haven't participated enough to get a feeling out of them.

My vote on Rafay (and the reason I haven't yet removed it) was essentially for this reason:

a long history of inactivity is ignored with Rafay because, as always, he shows up to say the usual nonsense when a wagon gains any momentum on him. We all know that it won't last, he'll get himself off the chopping block by posting and then disappear again, same as every game.

I admit that I didn't pay close enough attention to what Rafay's vote count was at when I voted and I'm relieved that it wasn't hammered early so that we can continue discussion, but that doesn't change the fact that I believed him to be suspicious and worthy of my vote. He had two posts up until that point that both said "no u" in response to Finster's original vote and nothing else. He didn't even bother to challenge the other three votes against him at the time (Kazio, ABT, Lyner) of which two of the three were cast for essentially the same reason that mine was (ABT, Lyner).

UNVOTE

Thanks for coming back CoD.  We can all relate to RL.

I'm ready to revote for Rafay for the reasons stated by both CoD and TW, plus my own personal experience from him last game that still stings.   But more for the reasons TW and CoD state.  Rafay has this habit of doing exactly what they say he does every single game he's in.

I'll finalize my vote closer to deadline, unless his wagon takes off again.  I'm on it, just not "officially."  It will either be a vote for Rafay or a NL vote.

unvote

was a random lulz vote on Kazio. No reason that it should still stand.

Vote Rafay

I feel we should either lynch someone who will only be detrimental later, or no lynch. I'd rather not go into day 2 with 0 information though.

Well, he has returned.

UNVOTE

even though I feel I'm in the minority,

VOTE NO LYNCH

@TW, gut and yes you putting at L-1 so quickly. Again it's a day 1 scum list. I wouldn't be surprised if I was on somebody's scum list also.

Unvote

RL can do that, CoD, but I hope to see more from you.

Again, lynching Rafay doesn't seem like the best option we hold at this moment. He rapidly had a wagon build. I understand the feelings towards his playstyle but is an easy lynch for scum the best way to address it?

Our options are very limited as it is day 1. People who want a day 1 Lynch there best opportunity is with rafay. I'm not a fan of his play style but I don't feel it's deserving of a day 1 Lynch. I think our best move is still in no Lynch.

Our best move may be NL, however, I feel his play style should be shown to be unacceptable.

I'm normally opposed to a NL, but I think Rafay has shown that he can be active and participate this game. Therefore I can not vote for him on the basis of inactive/lurker. I would rather see someone else be lynched instead of him. If that means a NL vote to save him, I wouldn't be opposed to a NL

Rafay has shown game in and game out that he will have a spurt of activity when his heads on the chopping block. Scum usually make the case that "this time will be different and he'll be active" because they know he won't and they know he will be a detriment to the town the longer the game progresses. For that reason FoS SBG and iSoc.

I understand the logic that because his wagon built quick, but notice that his wagon built quick, only up to L-2 not L-1 (he was at 4 I believe, it takes 6.) and as soon as that was the case people bailed off the wagon (scummy looking move, if they were hiding on a wagon they don't actually want to have go through). I say we get the most information out of this if we lynch him because it gives us a read on the people who voted for him and then bailed out, as where everyone lands in the end.

The reason I unvoted is I did not want to see the day end so quickly. It worked, as it got you back into an active status, and we have people participating.

I agree with you that iSoc and SBG have some suspicion defending Rafay. Not sure I wanna FOS them yet.

I hate how Rafay plays. I really wanna see that style shunned. Punished. Unencouraged.

Therefore:

@Lyner: Since you haven't posted since 12/2 when you voted for Kaziocore, do you have any thoughts worth sharing on things that have happened since then? You are now tied with Kazio for the fewest posts (4) and are doing pretty much exactly what you voted for him for doing.

Rafay (5): Finster Baby, Kaziocore, Ali bin Turban, Lyner, The Warrior

That how it looked before I've came and noticed we're just one step from ending the day. So it was L-1.

Anyway, we know nothing yet and when faced with a random vote Rafay is the best target(being the most notorious player). If he turns out to be scum, that's really good. We'll have much easier time finding out remaining bad guys. However what I'm afraid of is a following scenario:

 - Rafay turns out to be town (and noone's to be blamed).

 - On D2 one of the scum RCs as a cop (due to multiple roles possible, we won't be able to verify him) claiming he's found a scum. We lynch supposed scum and he turns out to be town...Game over (assuming there are 3 scums, which we should do for our own safety).

I'd be worried even more with so much pushing toward Rafay lynch and other factors (like that unnecessary CoD's mistake)...but it's actually understandable. I want to lynch him myself.

So what to do? I believe for now our safest option is to play waiting game and choose NL. Since there are 10 players we can do it once without loosing a misslynch chance.

- If there's a cop we'll give him one more night for investigation and will enter D2 with the same amount of misslynches we're having right now.

- If there's no cop then we'll lose one guy...but still we'll enter D2 with the same amount of misslynches we're having right now + we'll have more time to discuss before game ends.

On D2 we'll be forced to lynch and if nothing changes Rafay will be the most optimal choice. Right now however:

vote No lynch

There is not a reasonable way to determine how many scum there is, unless we all want to RC, (Witch would take away from the game). A No lynch is more better regardless if there is 2 or 3 scum.

Now I'm not defending Rafay by any means, but the lynch is based on passed games. While I'm not a fan of his playstyle, is it really worth putting us at a disadvantage by lynching if he dose show up town. Cause the votes are based on past games and play styles Vs. what is going on in this game. The votes in no way people truly from what I've read, believe he is scum, just of this we don't like him for what he dose in games. Mafia already has a high win %, I don't see how lynching Rafay now on day 1 truly benefits us unless we get extremely lucky and he dose flip town, and the basic odds of guessing randomly isn't great.

Ali dose have a point though. If Rafay is lynched, turns up town, the players involved in the lynch get off scott free. As the lynch is based on his playstyle and not this game. This is a smaller game with no much room for error. This isn't a large game where we could make a comeback from a bad lynch that provides us next to nothing for info. So its a matter of do I have confidence in the town being able to lynch Rafay and we still end up winning, and on this site, No, I don't hold confidence that we be able to overcome the odds. Not without some major help from a cop, (Witch if ali scenario plays out , it would screw us).

So, in short, if people want to continue and lynch Rafay, they are most likely putting town at a disadvantage. Where we will be in do or die mode tomorrow if there is 3 scum.(There is a term for a day like that but don't remember what its called).

Later today I should be making a post with all my notes on every player up to this point. Just in Case purposes.

Rafay has shown game in and game out that he will have a spurt of activity when his heads on the chopping block. Scum usually make the case that "this time will be different and he'll be active" because they know he won't and they know he will be a detriment to the town the longer the game progresses. I say we get the most information out of this if we lynch him because it gives us a read on the people who voted for him and then bailed out, as where everyone lands in the end.

Scum could also realize Rafay is an easy lynch if he is town and try to restart a wagon on him. And as AbT quoted before me, he was at L-1. Rather fast if you ask me.

As I've stated, I dont see much we can gain from a lynch on anyone. No one has stood out as a worthwhile lynch in my personal opinion so

You make a compelling argument here especially considering that we get a no-lynch without losing a miss-lynch. I will unvote for the time being but Rafay shouldn't get a free pass. We still want you to contribute!

Unvote.

I'd still like to hear more from Lyner. Do you still find Kazio suspicious?

Given that you are right about the benefits of no lynching in this situation (and the fact that we'd be LYLO tomorrow if we mislynch) I suppose I must relent. Yes the lynch would have been based on past games but we keep saying we are going to punish his play, and then we don't, and then the Mod's let him play the next game despite the fact that he contributes nothing. Same story, game in and game out.

Unvote

(side note I found where I was mistaken about him being L-1. I looked at the vote counts and I missed TW's vote right before people started unvoting, so he was L-1. My bad.)

Vote No lynch

Even though I would agree with Robert that lynching someone just for the sake of his play style, regardless of how terrible it is, won't help town much in scum hunting,

I'm not a fan of no lynching or leaving my vote unused so I'd still vote whomever I think is the most scummy right now.

But if we end with a no lynch, at least we'd have some information because of our discussion.

---

Off the top of my head right now, I have a gut feeling that CoD is town.

Also Robert for having a different opinion than everyone instead of sheeping

---

Honestly I want D1 to end right now. I hate D1 the most.

Sorry for the inactivities, busy RL days and it's day one so I'm not investing much attention until we receives some info tomorrow.

So in the end we end up with killing Rafay vs No Lynch, not surprising :P

Rafay is a safe choice for day 1 lynch since he claimed VT, a.k.a. minimal risk to town. So go ahead if you want to vote him.

I personally feel that Rafay is town again this time though. As AbT have stated we got a free no lynch with this setup (since there is no SK) so I'd prefer no lynch today.

Vote: No Lynch

As long as he didn't repeat his past behaviour of disappearing until the last minute I'm not complaining.

If anything I think it'd be better if everyone took sides clearly before the day ends, instead of wasting their votes, e.g:
