[TW-01] Cybernations Mafia - Town Win!

http://www.conradaskland.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/cybernations.png

Cybernations Mafia

Only the following roles may exist in this game:

Vanilla Townie, Bodyguard, Commuter, Sane Cop, Role Cop, Vanilla Cop, Flavor Cop, Doctor, Friendly Neighbor, Follower, Gunsmith, Innocent Child, Jack of All Trades, Jailkeeper, Mafia Goon, Mafia Encryptor, Mafia Godfather, Mafia Ninja, Mafia Strongman, Mafia Traitor, Mason, Miller, Motion Detector, Neapolitan, Neighbor, Neighborizer, Nurse, Roleblocker, Rolestopper, Serial Killer, Tracker, Universal Backup, Vigilante, Voyeur, Watcher

The following modifiers may also exist in this game:

Ascetic, Backup (with or without primary role present), Bulletproof, Enabler (with or without primary role present), Even/Odd Night, Macho, Neighbor, Non-Consecutive Night, Weak, X-Shot

Assigned character names are various alliances from Cybernations. Ignore all current Cybernations foreign relations. The current treaty web has no bearing on the assigned characters. Alliances were randomly assigned as "good" or "bad" roles so one's personal opinion of an alliance will not necessarily translate to this game.

Sample Role PM said:

You are Valhalla, a Vanilla Townie. Your power is in your vote. You win when the Town controls the game.

  • The game thread is closed during the Night. The Mafia may speak to each other at Night.

  • After the Night, the game goes to Day.
  • All dead players (lynched or killed) can no longer participate in the game.

This is again the guy who didn't suspect me, but suddenly did when his push for Lyner or his push for Avatar didn't work, suddenly he jumps on me when his back is against the wall. The evidence of me coming up Vanilla had already came out before he even voted Avatar

Yeah, I said I was just voting Avater in the meantime and would probably change it. I was giving you a chance to respond. I didn't really push for Avater you're bending the truth a bit here.

And yeah, of course my opinions changed after the Vanilla hit and all the talk and suspicion that ensued. You moved way up on a lot of people's list, not just mine.

He has called Lyner for nothing to report being day 4....yet he has not reported anything. Seemingly trying to force Lyner to expose his role when at this point if someone had something to report that would help, they likely would have. Why he believe Lyner should report any findings he has even though they aren't of any help is stupid, especially if he still has some roles left and aren't 1-2 shots like some have had.

Even if he didn't have much to report, it could help confirm he is town at least which would be nice. And if he still doesn't have any useful info his investigation role must suck. And of course I wouldn't be bothering him about it if he didn't say "I got nothing, sort of" on day 2. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this kind of interesting/suspicious.

A Backup is a vanilla townie until the role that they are backing up dies.

Well, that's interesting. Not quite as sure about Rhizo now.. and with no other decent theories, looks like town has to take another shot in the dark. Which means town is almost certainly screwed. yay.

Unvote

Vote Canik

But still is just grasping at straws. Don't you find it strange that suddenly when his fate is almost sealed he has a revelation for us? Most probably he's just looking for a way to survive and has found out there's "Backup" modifier possible in this game, so why not to use it as an argument to save his skin? He had a plenty of time to be sincere. He chose not and now it's a bit to late.

Almost sounds like his scum friends gave him this information from the mafia talk

Anyway I think Imran got killed because scum suspected he's some sort of cop, since he has been adamant on killing Rhizo since day 2 (difficult not to miss some posts, please correct me on this one). The lynch of King Hitler on night 2 also indicated that scums're searching for cop.

If we agree on this line of thoughts then Imran was right on Rhizo being scum, and scums thought about "getting rid of Imran before he can spill more informations today". Apparently he's not a cop.

To correct you a little. Imran wasn't adamant about killing me on D2. He actually for the most part of the whole D2 was Shah/Canik, and right near the end of the day voted me for pretty vague reason(my posts, didn't actually point any out). D3 came, he went back to Canik. It wasn't until Madarijn said he got a vanilla result on me that he changed his vote from Canik to me, while still believing Canik is likely as well.

There is no evidence! just a whole bunch of "failed" lynched attempts. This vague voting with a shotgun approach is a better go after then inactive or not posting.

KevinH - just wants to go after inactives.

Canik - was so eager to accuse lyner, but was voting for rhiz until now.

Mandi - is staying rhizo is definitely scum, but has being moving his vote around.

Please provide all the evidence against me, and let see what you got. I know the best one so for to get people lynched is, not talking. Apparently the "town" has a hunger for inactive.

My best candidate so far is Canik

VOTE Canik

The flip flopping of the vote just to follow the motion. his voting pattern doesn't follow up with who he keeps calling suspicious. In actuality, it follows more a get a lynch going strategy.

iSoc there are more suspicions about you than just inactivity. When you show around you're making meaningless moves, voting on some random people (like on D3 with two wagons 5-strong each you've voted on Imran out of blue). I can't remember now, but I'll check when I'm back from work, your indication that KH may be a cop (whether KH made it obvious or not).

Rhizo is still the most suspicious and his claims just fuel those suspicions. While I'd like to take a look at iSoc, I still want to lynch Rhizo first.

Roq is suspicious too - again coming out of blue and bandwagonning in (though Rhizo does not seem suspicious to him)...but still he can't be in one team with iSoc (so only one of them can be a scum).

Canik why are you voting on yourself?

I'm not going to let D3 voting happen again. I don't want day to end to early, but I want Rhizo to stay comfortable in lynch zone:

unvote

vote Rhizoctonia

Yeah, it's pretty obvious we have to lynch Rhizo today, why didn't he make the Backup claim yesterday when he was about to be lynched as well? He probably just found out about this or got the information from one of his scum buddies only now. Which makes me think an experienced player might be scum as well.

My Mafia list at this moment:

Rhizo

Rafay (previous games I played, he never wanted to go after inactives. But he has been doing this actively this game. So pretty sure he's scum this game)

iSoc OR Roq

2 more

-

Ali has to be town, although I've never played with him before, so he could be playing us all. :P

Lyner (he was about to get lynched on D2, but maybe the scum had a back-up plan to get some extra votes on Kazio if I didn't do the deciding vote. But that would be risky, so actually I'm leaning more towards a townie here)

Canik why are you voting on yourself?

Frustration both in this game and IRL. The back-up role showing up as vanilla does make it a bit more likely Rhizo is town, so it was just one more thing going wrong and I assumed the worst. (Plus I'm a little interested if I can vote for myself)

I still think Rhizo is an acceptable choice though. Either him or iSoc would be fine by me.

What can we learn from this?

My theory:

- Rhizo is scum :P (3 confirmed and 1 probable townie in Ali on his wagon, which would clear Canik in my eyes)

- It's so weird that Finster, Yehom and Rafay now all want to lynch Rhizo and yesterday they don't as they would rather lynch an inactive than a possible scum...

- My guess is at least 2 of those on the lynch wagon of d3mon are scum... Roq was also on Kazio's lynch wagon (but so was KevinH :P). So Roq is probably 1 (which would clear iSoc in some way, although he has really done shit to help the town)

- Robert and Avater haven't been doing anything. 1 of them is probably scum (or none or both as there's really not much/nothing to go on for them...)

- There are probably some scum on the current lynch wagon from Rhizo already (they either gave up on him or we've been wrong all along :P But if he wasn't scum I would've expected some more trying to push for other people (like Roq did for some part trying to build a wagon on my vote), so I'm pretty convinced)

- My other 2 scum would be Lyner (he's constantly saying something along the lines of "yeah <name> was probably right and COD and me were just 2 townies fighting", although the lynch wagon on him is a bit weird. But they could've had 1 scum waiting to vote Kazio to be sure or just thrusted me to have the hammer vote. If he's scum iSoc and FB are town. Which leaves Rafay and Yehom (both on d3mon and now both on Rhizo's wagon). Basicly both of them can be scum, only one or none (depends who/if from Robert and Avater are scum). They can really be both scum as they both haven't helped much on the scum hunt (same can be said of course from the other 2)... My guess would be Rafay is the most probable scum as he's been pushy to lynch inactives, which he hasn't been in other games.

So that leaves Avater, Robert and Yehom with 1 scum spot open.

That's my theory based on my gut and some little things that I noticed, but yeah we should learn a lot with the Rhizo lynch (which we should've really had yesterday...) and who knows maybe I'm completely wrong and Ali for example has me completely fooled. Lyner would be a good next lynch if Rhizo happens to be town, as we would learn a lot about Canik, Finster and iSoc.

Now I want to hear others!! as we're not going to win the way we're playing now... Next night probably some more actives will be killed and the town has basicly lost then, because the rest is doing shit.

Please remember this post if I happen to die tomorrow!

iSoc there are more suspicions about you than just inactivity. When you show around you're making meaningless moves, voting on some random people (like on D3 with two wagons 5-strong each you've voted on Imran out of blue). First one of the wagons was a town player, the second was on a player that we still don't know. My vote at the time was a unknown player. It was base on his tactic of discrediting everyone and pushing hard for lynches. Wasn't out of the blue as you may like to think of it.

The second one, I'm going to let you rephrase it. Because, in my book, calling someone a cop is not a scummy move. As I remember other people were already hinting at it, and he already made a statement along the lines. If I was scum, I wouldn't shout out a town role before it was know to everyone else. I would wait for the night and tell my buds. I also wouldn't shout it out if I was town either.  You may want to look back, or this one, and start finding other post by me to find things you want to turn into skewed reasoning. Because the one you got right now ain't enough.  This isn't a call out, I mean no hostilities, but I wouldn't even support someone, who was accusing you of this.

Honestly, I messed up by going with inactive lynching so I thought it'd be safer to go with Mandarijn's choice rather than lynch a vanilla in Rhizo. I'm town as can be. iSocialism also voted for Imran who ended up being town and was killed by scum.

- My other 2 scum would be Lyner (he's constantly saying something along the lines of "yeah <name> was probably right and COD and me were just 2 townies fighting", although the lynch wagon on him is a bit weird. Since you're a verified townie I'll do my best to cast away those suspicion

"he's constantly saying something along the lines o yeah <name> was probably right and COD and me were just 2 townies fighting"

Citations, please?

I only said this once, and it was today after Imran was revealed as town, as I was quoting from him, and it was for the purpose of reinforcing that Imran might have been correct that Rhizo is scum, as he was correct about me and CoD.

Another reason for my not-scumminess is that I have been antagonizing Canik-FB-CoD since day two. If I was a scum, I'd be wiser than accusing three people at the same time without proper support from my "scum friends" so early(there are 19 people here) in the game, while I could just sit around and watch Imran kill Canik/Rhizo. There are too many inactives in this game that it'll be too easy to blend in :P

Since you're so enthusiastic about day 2, let's check it out:

If I was scum

I have been antagonizing Canik-FB-CoD since day two. I'd be wiser than accusing three people at the same time without proper support from my "scum friends" so early(there are 19 people here) in the game, while I could just sit around and watch Imran kill Canik/Rhizo. There are too many inactives in this game that it'll be too easy to blend in :P

The key point here is that if I was scum, I'd just stay pushing on Canik instead of calling for more attention from the others. Your point about my lynch wagon is correct if I was scum, but what if I wasn't scum? Here you go:

If I was town

Which would benefit more for scums, killing a Lyner, or a d3mon? (assuming both are towns), please forget your knowledge since the end of day two for this example.

Benefits for killing a Lyner:

- The scums who are on the Lyner wagon will be suspected

- Certainly not a cop, as my "soft claim" indicates

- If Canik/FB/CoD were townies, they will be suspected by town thus scum'd prefer this

Benefits for killing a d3mon:

- Less suspicions on the wagon since killing an inactive is "legitimate town move" confirmed by both towns(KevinH and Mand)

- Possible cop

- If Canik/FB/CoD were townies, it'd be better to leave Lyner alives to let them fight against each other

Please contribute to the list if you have some insights :P

From those points, I think it is safe to conclude that whether I'm scum or town, lynching d3mon is far more preferrable for scums (well of course a kill is still better than a no lynch for scums too)

Addendum: A paragraph got copy pasted and I forgot to delete it, please don't mind the first one as the second one explains it more clearly :P

Lyner would be a good next lynch if Rhizo happens to be town, as we would learn a lot about Canik, Finster and iSoc.

You mean if Rhizo is scum right? Because up until now Lyner has been pretty defensive of Rhizo. Makes me think if Rhizo is scum, Lyner/iSoc are scum partners trying to back him up.

@ Lyner & iSoc.. it may be true some of the things you two have done, a scum probably wouldn't have.. but I'm pretty sure that's an common argument that scum will use to cover any mistakes. Might even intentionally do things scum shouldn't do. So doesn't prove much one way or another.

Canik (3): Rhizoctonia, Canik, iSocialism

Cool you can vote for yourself. This will come in handy in future games when I feel like voting but not sure who to vote for. :)

I don't want to throw baseless accusation, that's why I've said "I can't remember now but I'll check it". I've checked it now and there's nothing that would mark you as a scum in that particular case of KH's presumed cop role.

Anyway your (and our by extension) problem is that you don't care about the town. You've just taken the spot and are sliding through the game, which is very lazy and destructive for the town (in one word "scummy"). I'd really like to lynch you just for that.

That being said I've feeling you're just a town that don't care. It's just a feeling and it's based on this: http://ironcentral.org/community/topic/56759-tw-01-cybernations-mafia-day-4/page-18?do=findComment&comment=852586 Specifically that second last sentence.

Now to Mandarjin post - great to see those bandwagon pictures putted together. My thoughts are as follow:

Rhizo - It's no contest for me. His actions are scummier with every passing day. I'd be extremely surprised should he turn out town.

Canik - Still don't know, but if Rhizo turns out scum, Canik will be likely to be a town.

iSoc - I've feeling he's town, but honestly speaking he's been useless for the town. Also if Roq is a scum then iSoc can't be.

AbT - If I were a scum and Rhizo were a scum I wouldn't push for lynching him. If I were a scum and Rhizo was town I'd not push so hard and put myself in the spotlight (I wouldn't really give a f... who get's lynched: d3mon or Rhizo). If that's not enough for you, then if Rhizo turns out to be a scum then I think it'll be enough proof I'm a town.

Avater - Might be a scum based on his actions on D2. He was much better target to go for instead of Kazio or d3mon on previous days.

Finster - He just agrees for the entire game with this or that guy to have an excuse for jumping on the wagon. But maybe that's how he plays.

KevinH - meh

Lyner - shady person :P, but I think he's townie due to D2 voting. It looked like scums didn't want to hammer the vote due to being in comfortable position with 2 townies being accused (this changed on D3 as we've seen).

Mandarjin - nothing to add :P

Rafay - always scummy, useless for the town. I can't really grasp why he's allowed to live past D1 :P. I'll probably jump on a bandwagon if he's voted.

Robert - you can just guess who he is, though we've already used up our wild guess chances.

Roq - Scum in my book after D3. He had a chance to change game on D3 but didn't took the effort to even consider it. Confirmed scum after his last post, where he explains that he'll go after Mandarjins choice for iSoc because it's safer than lynching Rhizo (which ironically is contrary to what Mandarjin's said in his last post). Safer for whom? Not for town, I dare to say. Lynching him will somewhat prove iSoc innocence.

Yehom - Made some very weird arguments on why he think lynching d3mon is better than lynching Rhizo. Hasn't been much of use to the town.

My course of action would be to:

- Lynch Rhizo today.

- Lynch Roq tomorrow.

- In the meantime press Finster, Rafay and Yehom to the wall. Press them hard even forcing them to role claim. They can all be cops or doctors for all I care. Did they save anyone so far? Have they used their knowledge for the benefit of the town? NOPE.

It's D4 so if they've not told us or did anything useful why expect them to do it on N4/N5 (if we live that long)? We're in a critical moment where a misstep will result in a lost game. That means we are in dire need to confirm townies and hiding roles at any price does not help.

We need to get as much data as possible about those 3. They've been no help to the town and I want to squeeze all the information from them we can get, so that we can safely lynch them when we catch them on lying, or confirm as town and move onto the yellow guys.

I was referring to why I went with Mandarijn's original choice, not  referring to his last post.  Since Rhizo is getting lynched either way, I don't see a need to change my vote.

I would say some of the people on the previous inactive bandwagons were scum and used their night kills on active scum hunters.

If I'm going to keep getting accused of being scum,  then I'm going to role claim. I'm a doctor. I misused my night action the last time, which I alluded to when I saw Imran was town and got killed off. If I get lynched, you'll see that. I might get killed tonight too.

In the end, I'm sorry, I've just been a shitty player and have had difficulty getting acclimated here.

I see it now here: http://ironcentral.org/community/topic/56759-tw-01-cybernations-mafia-day-4/page-32?do=findComment&comment=856015 . It's not confirmation but it's quite strong. It's not very likely that you've set it up for your possible defense beforehand. We'll see if there's anyone to counter your claim. Also please let us know who were your targets on N1, N2, N3?

And don't be sorry. It's just a game and it's the one that requires some level of aggression (hostile assumptions, accusations, etc.) but it would be silly to carry any bad feelings outside of it :).

N1: Imran, N2 and N3: Canik. In retrospect, I would have just gone with Imran every night.

Yeah, I just meant since I haven't been much of a help to my faction that I was sorry for maybe enabling the scum to win.

Aw, thanks Roq. <3

I could tell you believed me more than most, and figured it was because you know me fairly well and know my posting style. Which is why I wasn't too suspicious of you (despite the mislynches), because if you were scum I think you'd have attacked my weaknesses instead of being understanding of them.

Now with your role-claim, I am pretty darn confident you are in fact town.

And don't feel too bad about any mistakes you might've made. Mafia is tough. This is my 7th or so game and I don't think I've won one yet. xD
