TMCWPTI #1 - Game Thread

The Mafia Choose Weird Places to Invade - #1

The IRONTown Baths was quite a popular attraction for families and the rest of the inhabitants of the town to relax in the pool or to get some exercise in. Right now, however, it was fairly quiet. The pool had some die-hard swimmers and stubborn children left in, but there were plenty of staff around too.

That was the time Godfather Tony chose to invade. Shortly after the first shots were fired, sirens went off, and shutters fell, cutting off the pool from the outside world.

Now, the innocent people of IRONTown had to find out who the mafia were, and make sure they didn't live to invade somewhere else slightly strange......

STILL ALIVE: (Italics - Confirmed)

Kaziocore

CanucksDynasty

Preston

Tactical Evil Dan

DROWNED IN THE POOL:

Nerau, Whistle-Blowing Lifeguard (One-Use Roleblocker), killed Night One.

Kasabian, Mafia Goon, lynched Day Two.

Chaoshawk, Pool Cleaner (One-Use Vigilante), Killed Night Two.

Electric Mango, Insomniac, lynched Day Three.

KevinH, Friendly Neighbour, killed Night Three.

AKCPLUTO, One-Use Mafia Janitor, lynched Day Four.

ccabal86, Curious Child, killed Night Four.

This thread needs more Chaoshawk.

It does feel like it's been quiet today. I dont have time at the moment, but I'd be interested in a list of "who hasnt spoken since the new day started".

-Preston

I don't put too much fairth in the idea that just because they were seen as moving that they are mafia.

Nevertheless, I don't have a better idea other than "lynch the inactives first."

That -A- mafia would show up as moving when they do their nightkill makes sense. I do not necessarily believe ALL movement equals scum. EM could be telling the truth about his role.

The important part for me is that CD roleclaimed and pointed at EM and Kasabian. This forces us to either believe or not believe CD. If we had clear reason to NOT believe CD, we'd be lynching him up as scum - but what he has presented is plausible and merits testing, as it's the only new development. If Kasabian tests out to be scum, that will help prove CD's towniness and buy us breathing room. If not, then CD may end up going in the pool tomorrow.

Frankly, if Kasabian is lynched and found to be town... I think the town may be SOL; barring a night save we'd be down to lynch-or-lose, and we'd have no clear way to discern between CD or EM.

Well, let's see what happens when mole gets back...

VOTE COUNT

Kasabian (7): Electric Mango, Kaziocore, ccabal86, Preston, KevinH, CanucksDynasty, Tactical Evil Dan

Electric Mango (1): Kasabian

Not Voting (2): AKCPLUTO, Chaoshawk

With 10 Alive, 6 is needed to lynch.

Yes, I do get busy every now and then, but I will try and keep up with the vote counts. As for prods, please be reminded of Rule 10.

After a short but very heated discussion involving someone claiming to be a security guard, two targets were quickly established - and one was dragged by the scruff of the neck to the side of the pool. Despite his protestations and struggling, it was Tactical Evil Dan and CanucksDynasty who did the dirty work, holding his head under the water until finally, the struggling stopped, and his body fell limp.

Kasabian, MAFIA GOON, has been lynched.

It is now NIGHT TWO. Night actions to me by Sunday!

The next day dawns. The mafia didn't try to hide their kill this time. As soon as all the IRONTown folk gathered around the pool, they noticed a body floating roughly near the middle of the pool. After gritting their teeth and swimming out to bring the body back to the side of the pool, they found the body to be that of the aging Pool Cleaner.

Chaoshawk, Pool Cleaner (One-Use Vigilante) has been killed.

It is now DAY THREE. Deadline for today is Monday 14th March.

Why would scum pick Chaoshawk, who was the towns most inactive townie? Is it a coincidence that he also happens to have a power role? It seems like the scum knows who has power roles and who doesn't. Also this was the 2nd townie who had one time use powers. I wonder if Mole gave out more power roles but with limited ability.

Like Kevin, I'm interested in hearing what CD has to say about last night.

I'm starting to think that every townie may have a small ability (one-time use) or that the 3rd person I found on security camera was mafia that fed me false info.

However, I still don't think EM is townie and more likely to be mafia. He tried to come up with a reason to explain his insomniac role. A role to balance my seemingly powerful Security Guard role. Well here's the kicker. I'm a ONE-TIME SECURITY GUARD. Just like Nerau (one-time roleblocker) and Chaoshawk (one-time vigilante). See the pattern here (ie. one-time). Therefore it doesn't make sense that there is an insomniac role.

Vote: Electric Mango

I'm still alive. I must be scum. (that's a joke)

First question: Why Chaoshawk?

Second question: What did CanucksDynasty see?

1. Probably cuz Chaoshawk did not post at all during D2. Which is different since he usually makes a few posts. A change in his playstyle may have prompted mafia to kill him.

2. Nothing as I said my previous post that I am a ONE-TIME SECURITY GUARD.

So please vote EM as his insomniac role has less merit against my role.

The mafia didn't try to hide their kill this time.

Is this line significant? Mole could be just adding flavor, or it could imply mafia used an ability last night in some form. If so, EM's excuse for activity is even more tenuous.

CD - Kasabian's scum has made me believe your claim. Your role being one-shot as you just said is unfortunate, but you gave us solid info on a mafia that was not otherwise standing out.

Frankly I'd thought I would get targetted last night - I've been something of a rabble rouser. That we've lost two power roles in such rapid succession suggests mafia has some kind of day role cop - or they're getting VERY lucky.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but at this point we're at 6 townies/2 mafia? If we mis-lynch today we'll be down to 5/2, and then night will bring us to 4/2. We've got a little breathing room, but we need to be careful with it.

I will respond at greater length later; my getting access this time of day is somewhat of a fluke (and when I can it's usually to read instead of to write).

-Preston

@Preston - I think it is just flavouring when the MOD said that mafia didn't try to hide their kill. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Alive (8 players)

CanucksDynasty

Electric Mango

Preston

KevinH

ccabal86

AKCPLUTO

Kaziocore

Tactical Evil Dan

Dead (3 players)[/b

]Nerau (one time roleblocker) = townie

Chaoshawk (one time vigilante) = townie

Kasabian = mafia goon

I would assume that we have 6 townies and 2 mafia left.

And yes...we do have a bit of breathing room.

Let's make the most of it.

Also...EM was online on this thread when I posted that I was a one-time security guard.

Flavour text is just that, for flavour only.

No hints are (or will ever be) in the flavour text.

I would see nothing wrong with a game where there is no vanilla townie. Each player with a weak role would have a little bit of extra interest in the game.

My day off is next Monday and I will probably not post at all.

It's Monday and I'm posting!

I think CanucksDynasty was smart. He made himself a target by claiming to be the guard but didn't mention that his power was gone.

Unfortunately, the scum didn't follow the plan.

I am not convinced about the evidence against EM. I need a better theory, though.

On the contrary...I think they may have tried to roleblock me.

Hence the reason why I gave up the tidbit of being able to be role-blocked and chose to omit to being only a one-time.

Also...I don't think that that I would have received info that I was roleblocked since I had no actions to take anymore.

Forgot to say that with all the one-time pro-town power role...mafia should definitely have a roleblocker.

And I think that person is EM.

It is alarming that the scum seem to keep finding and hitting power roles on our side, mostly before they have a chance to take effect (CD being the one exception thus far). Maybe it's because we have several one-timers, but it still looks really bad.

Regardless, my gut is telling me that EM is not scum. If the scum have role-blockers, why would they play them on the first night when they don't know who needs to be blocked?

Hm, this is quite troubling, even IF we may have several smaller 1-shot roles. It's almost like the mafia knows who to target.

Anyway, CD's claim has been tested and worked out so far. An insomniac role isn't very likely in light of CD's 1-shot ability.

Your reasoning is absurd.

IF mafia knew which townies had which roles...they would have just night-killed the most dangerous ones to them. The fact that they don't know who does what means that on N1...they are trying to roleblock anyone and hope to succeed.

Switch it around and say why would the townies use their one-time ability without knowing who was mafia. What's the point when the town would just lynch mafia.

Enough people voted no-lynch the first day that the scum got a freebie. The reading I have done about this game, and watching all of you talk about it at length, suggests to me that a cop (or in your case a security guard) is a common pro-town role.

This would, in my way of thinking, make a blind block dangerous to the scum as it would risk needless exposure in the earliest stage of the game.

Just my 2 cents.

By the way, could you clarify the meaning of "FoS"?

FoS = Finger of Suspicion.

A cop role is different from my role (read EM previous posts).

Point is...mafia may have presumed there was a cop. There is no way they would have known my security guard role that observed movements. Therefore, it would make sense for a mafia roleblocker to use his ability every chance he gets. Fortunately I caught them moving about.

And EM claimed insomniac role does not make sense given that my role is a one-time use only.

EM IS MAFIA.

FoS = Finger of Suspicion.

Oh.

Well, that's nothing new.

I see your logic. I suppose it's just my contrary nature having its way with me.

I am wondering if we should make anything out of CD's persistent accusations against EM.

But then, I am finding his arguments to be most compelling.

Therefore, I wish to point my finger of suspicion at EM.
